Kyle Campbell exterior solutions

Kyle is a joke. I am a self employed carpenter and he reached out to me trying to knock a roof out over the weekend because which I didn't understand why he can't find any help. Or course it wasn't done and he doesn't show up until noon time and doesn't pay anybody. I have been owed $300 and have been getting a run around his quality or work is beyond ridiculous. Used no foam closures on corrugated metal roofing even for the ridge caps which you have to. Also the ridge only grabbed the panels on the gables by roughly a half inch on each side. He also knew the flashing was short and would leak and after mentioning issues with him his response is he won't be here to worry about it, that he will be out on the ocean fishing for a living

Do NOT hire this man.

We hired Kyle to build a deck in July 2019. At first he was very responsive and helpful. Our start date was pushed back a few times as he said he was wrapping up other projects, but we weren't in a hurry and the permitting process took longer than expected on our end, so we were fine with it.

The first day he showed up to work he basically dropped off a day laborer to dig holes and disappeared for the rest of the day. They ran into some issues with parts of an old pool that hadn't been fully removed while they were digging, so work was pushed back again. From that point on, Kyle would disappear for weeks at a time, then would finally show up after multiple texts, only to put in an hour or two of "work", and then vanish again. Constantly gave us the runaround. Lied on at least two occasions saying materials, which he had supposedly purchased with our deposit, were out for delivery, only for them never to show up. After the fact, when I asked him to confirm which shade of decking he had ordered, he admitted that he had never ordered it. Then he hit us up for more money based on the extra labor that went into digging holes for the sono tubes, which I told him I was not comfortable paying until the job was done, as his responsiveness and trustworthiness were already shot.

We went all fall with his trash and equipment all over our yard, and a half finished "frame" for a deck, during which time he showed up maybe once and texted periodically with the sob story of the week to explain away why he wasn't doing the work he was hired, and paid a deposit, to do. Through it all we were patient, probably more patient than we should have been.

The last communication we had was on Christmas Eve, when he texted to see if we were home, saying he was going to drop off supplies. We did not respond (it was Christmas Eve!). He dropped off 3 random pieces of lumber while we were away, leaving them lying across the ground in the mud, and took some of his tools that I had stored in our shed for him after he left them out in the elements for several months. We haven't heard from him since.

Desperate to move on and clean up our yard so it was a safe place for our kids to play, we sucked it up and hired a new contractor to finish the deck in March 2020. Immediately he pointed out that the work Kyle had done was not only shoddy (not properly attached to the house, etc), but his measurements didn't match the specs on our building permit. He was off by 2ft in one spot! Despite having to remove the mess that Kyle left and start from scratch, the new contractor was able to complete in 5 days what Kyle couldn't do in 9 months.

We thought we were giving someone a shot to help build his business when we hired Kyle. Don't make the same mistake we did.

Horrible experience!!! Rude, dishonest, poor workmanship,destroyed property along the way. Had to hire another contractor to repair and finish the bathroom renovation and other repairs incurred at my own cost. He was harassing about money texting me day and night desperate for payment for horrific work. Had to contact the local police in that he was threatening to come to the house and tear the vanity , tiles etc . out if payment wasn't made. He was consistently inappropriate in communicating his problems about starving kids, angry wife and disgruntled employees(even sent me snap shots of texts from his laborers threatening him for payment). He was paid and has left me with a mess. I recently read another bad review about a bathroom renovation and he responded by stating is company is for exterior construction. Yet another lie ,he was hired be me to renovate a bathroom and fixed a small piece of exterior siding. He took on the job without hesitation or reservation. He was completely disrespectful to me on several occasions, yelling over the phone and at one point called me sweetheart(not in a good way). Kyle by the way, you must have had the wool pulled over your eyes during the work you did on my bathroom or you have a visual impairment. GOD SPEED!

Very unprofessional and disrespectful. He remodeled my bathroom and did a horrible job. I will say, his worker who put the tile in did a great job. Everything else was completely awful. Kyle never showed up when he said he would, leaving his workers waiting outside my house for him for hours. He put my toilet in crooked which caused a leak. He installed my shower doors (that my mother paid a lot of money for) upside down and backwards, and when confronted about this, he got very angry stating he did it correct. He damaged a lot of my property with the mistakes he made. The vanity installed crooked and scratched, toilet paper holder installed crooked, the trim was cut to fit the vanity and left there, no baseboards behind the toilet, scratches left on my ceilings, shelves bent, etc. Kyle was given 3 chances to go in and fix his work. He kept saying “I’ll be done tomorrow” to only find something else broken or installed improperly. When we said we were not going to pay him the rest of what he wanted, for ruining my bathroom, he harassed us, threatened to come to my house and rip up all of the tile, got aggressive, begged for the money and was just outright rude. At one point he was SCREAMING at my mother over the phone. The entire time we stayed respectful and calm. We gave him $8,100 in total for someone else to come in and tell us what an awful job he did and now we are going to have to re-do the entire thing. Do NOT hire this man. My mother wrote a truthful review as well and he decided to text me and said “don’t ruin my reputation” with the middle finger emoji stating “I’ll see you around”. Yet another threat. In another review, he stated he only does exterior work but jumped right on doing my bathroom remodel. Maybe he should change professions. Completely unprofessional. I hope someone else doesn’t have to go through what we went through.

Actually, you deserve negative stars. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!. This IS the homeowner that you misrepresented yourself AND your skills to from the beginning. My current contractor was simply stating in his review, what he had to deal with in cleaning up after you. I think you are a roofer from Wilton that wants to be a sider and tried learning on my job. Only problem is your work ethic is so bad- saying you are going to show up and never coming, coming stoned, smoking and throwing your cigarette butts all over and leaving them there, complaining about your wife giving you a hard time- SO unprofessional. I gave you a third of the contract price up front weeks before the job was to be started, trusting your integrity and skill that you represented to me in numerous phone calls since i was in Florida. I thought i was securing your services. Come to find you spent only half of that money on supplies and just paid yourself up front the other half. So, when you asked for the second third i just paid for the rest of the supplies from applicator sales in Portland myself. You never devoted one day start to finish over the course of a month to my job, always blaming the weather and other workers. You showed up more than once at dusk and even in the rain to wrap the house with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth. I had to send you home. Yes, my son mainly(and i) stripped the cottage ourselves in 2 days for you to start as per the contact and by the time i told you to come get your things or they were going on the curb a month later the siding was on maybe 5% and even a novice could see multiple mistakes. Thank God, in retrospect ,you were so retarded so no more supplies were wasted when i cut you loose. Always trying to create more work for yourself, covering bad wood with aluminum. The list goes on and on. Worst experience with a contractor EVER. obviously you write some of your own few reviews. I was too busy with my son's medical issues that cropped up right at that time so i haven't thought to write a review. I did have the police come out to file a report and they said the only recourse is small claims court but it is obvious you have nothing to go after and probably never will with your work ethic and skills. Don't pretend to be a sider if you are a roofer just because Maine doesn't better regulate contractors. i will let the better business know also my experience so hopefully your name will make it onto some list and others won't be fooled. Your work did not prove to be a"solurion"to me. All my neighbors and locals and professionals driving by were aware of the situation and my difficulties with you from the absolute start. The problem is once i gave a big chunk of money to you i didn't want to admit i got fooled and ripped off. There was nothing wrong with any of my windows, or for that matter my door that you made me change. You just didn't have the skills to solve the problem. You spent 2 days on that window that i paid you extra for, stupid me. Thank God again after more time and expense i found an excellent local company to clean up your mess but i lost a lot.

I found Kyle to be a very capable and knowledgeable carpenter....he was also very professional, respectful and listened to what I wanted done.
