Kona Ace Hdwe & Crafts

I went to Ace because I needed advice on a cleaning product and they did not disappoint! Penney was wonderful- she understood exactly what I needed, walked me over to the product, shared her experience with the product, and she was so friendly and helpful! And - the product she recommended is great!! I’ll be going to Ace all the time now! Mahalo!

Great store! Denny helped me get what i needed and actually helped fix the stuck faucet part I brought. I couldn’t be happier! Will definitely frequent this store for excellent customer service!

Such an amazing, cool hardware store! Let me give you some context….my grandfather owned an ace hardware store in California in the early 1900s (taken over by my dad and his brother)....so I have some early love and curiosity to experience every Ace we come upon. Not my normal go-to shopping but there is something about the smell….and absolutely EVERY ace is different. Some are hardcore hardware, some with housewares, some with limited holiday…but NOTHING like I experienced in Kona. Man!! It was exciting to see an Ace with a beautiful holiday inventory - the buyer for this store has good taste with holiday and offers unique items (not like Hobby Lobby or any of the yuck yuck goopy stores). My husband also liked the fishing offerings.
AND the service was amazing. So welcoming, so personable. I wished I could remember her name. We visited on Friday, October 11 - give that gal a raise!

So me and my wife moved here from Seattle about a year ago, and my wife like many loves doing crafts, from painting to sewing to drawing and coloring you name it she probably has stuff to do it.
Well she hasn’t been able to find any craft stores like we have back home untill today, we went to get a new deadbolt lock and half the store is a craft store.
She was so happy she almost started crying well this lady tells my wife she needs to leave her purse up at the fron its to big to have in the store, my wife opens her purse a$380 Lululemon purse so the lady can see she has nothing in it and the lady says no leave your bag and everything in it at the front or leave…
This lady was so very rude about it that I honestly couldn’t believe how unprofessional she was
So my wife shocked but still wanting to look around said fine I’ll put it in the car and just grab my wallet, this lady literally followed us all over the store as if we were going to seriously steal something
Finally my wife said okay let’s go I have had enough of this rude and very unprofessional place

We will never shop at this store ever

And it really sucks for them because my wife will spend a good 2 to 4 hundred every two weeks on craft shit…

Guess Amazon will continue to get our money and business

The staff was extremely, polite, professional and courteous. I'm blanking on the young lady's name from Ka'u, but I'll double back to the store to ask, so I can complete a survey Just for her.

Had a very pleasant visit to this Ace Store looking for plant fertilizer and supplies. Sam at checkout was super helpful and friendly. I plan to shop here more in the future.

Nice store with all the usual stuff. Came for super glue. Lots to pick from on Aisle 4! Happy staff.

5 stars for Denny who went above and beyond helping me today. He helped me find the hardware I needed to reattach my front license plate and even went out to my car and attached it while I waited in line to pay. I really appreciated it!!

It's a little more expensive, but if you need crafts/art supplies or the oddball screw, nut, or bolt... this is the place.

Great place. Has most of the primary things the big box stores have but in a much easier smaller place! They even carry Milwaukee Tools now.

Found exactly what I needed when other stores didn't have it. Staff was friendly and knew exactly what I needed.

Locally owned, two locations on Kona side. Always wonderful service, knowledgeable, and with products that I need and can depend on. Also carries art and craft supplies, plants, and various things I didn’t know I needed. One of my favorite stores.

Ace hardware makes sure you find exactly what you are looking for. Mayitbe paint, fishing, keys, garden, plumbing, camping or anything else for the home or yard. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Being an employee owned company everyone has an interest in making sure your shopping experience is as good as it gets. I highly recommend Ace Hardware.

This Ace was kind of disappointing. The hardware section was average, but prices were kinda jacked up. But the craft portion had a really small selection, and the prices were crazy, 8$ for a teeny tiny pack of plastic beads? Anyways, it's decent for hardware and tools, but the craft portion is lacking.

I always find the specific special things I need at Ace, from Grandma's Secret Spot Remover to Diatomaceous Earth. The management takes time to ask me if I have found everything I need and is super helpful, leading me in the right direction. Thank you, Ace!

I always come here for specialty items, such as hot temp glue for the oven gasket. They had the perfect glue for my project. I wanted high temp for the missing paint in the dryer. They didn't have the grossy white, but the satin white. It was almost right. The staff helped me through all my project requests. No problem here!

This is the perfect place to find the right screws and the size you need to get the done. So fast and easy to make it happen!

I go into ace hardware for mostly small items that they have and other stores don't. This time I needed two screws and cap nuts for a young child scooter. The total sale was 84 cents, but I had Ace employee gladly help me finding the screws and nuts that would do the trick. Now, we can have some child enjoy this little pink scooter. I love this store. You will, too!

I can find things here that I can't find elsewhere. They're short-staffed like everybody else, but they really try to be as helpful as possible as quickly as possible. My hat's off to them...and bachi to the idiot customer who demanded help "now" then proceeded to bash the cashier who was ringing up a sale and who handled the situation with grace and poise.

I went to locate a metric screw, but their selection of metric screws was very limited. I ended up going to HPM, who had a much more extensive selection of metrics, and I found the size that I needed. Due to COVID, Ace's hours have been reduced, and they close at 5 pm.
6/29/25: Ace has a sales circular at their front door with a 25% off coupon for a single item under $50 (or $12.50 off an item over $50), good thru 7/7/25.

My husband dropped his wallet at Ace Hardware #11742 today. I went to Ace to check. If by some luck they had found his wallet. Joe said he found it as he was driving the forklift. I was amazed. Everything was in his wallet. Tried to give Joe a reward. He refused. Just said to keep shopping at Ace.
Replacing all his cards and identification would of been a headache.
My husband and I appreciate Joe's honesty.
I told the manager Joe needs to be the employee of the month.
For us he will be the Best employee at Ace Hardware Kona.

Not to mention a CUTE Asian section. Also has these sweet plushies!!!!

Did a quick in, quick out. Friendly, helpful staff. Scaled down selection but you'd be surprised what they carry. Worth a trip.

I'm kinda straggly looking. I visited ace™ the other day to return something I accidently bought twice. Upon entry I was rushed up to by a worker who informed me they have a no backpack policy. Okay no problem I check my bag in at the coat check (laid it on the floor near the door) and started to look around ,as any kid does in a candy store, when I noticed the same worker assisting a nicely dresses man wearing a backpack. This was literally 60 seconds after I was promptly informed of their prejudice backpack policy which I assume reads: anyone under 40 with dirty hands and/or shirt should be harassed, monitored, and stripped of parcels capable of concealing merchandise (paid for or otherwise) and made aware that they are being singled out by means of not enforcing this "poor people only" policy. Failure to not enforce this policy on the poor distraught or rugged looking individuals will result in immediate termination of your employment at Ace™ and will be subject to a damaging lawsuit in which Ace™ team of attorneys will seek restitution in the amount no less than $50,000 and no more than $1 million for your cooperation in attacking the good rich people that shop at Ace hardware™ in Kona. I've spent +$500.00 at this store in the 10 times I've visited it, but now I will only go here if walmart, lowe's, home depot, target, longs, napa, autozone, O'Reilly's, sack and save, Dollar tree, Goodwill, thrift store, hobo on the street corner are currently out of stock in the item I'm looking for and time is of the essence. Thank you Ace hobby shop of Kona you really made my experience.
