Know Your Home Inspections, a family owned and operated business (not some giant organization with inspectors of varying experience where it is a crapshoot as to whether you get a newbie or a grizzled old timer) should be your first choice in home inspection services for anyone home buying in Western, CT.
Booking was fast and easy, and upon meeting Rich on site, I was immediately put at ease with his affable personality, obvious experience and professionalism, and willingness to explain (and reexplain if I needed) in easy and understandable terms every/anything related to the house. It was an absolute blessing to work with someone so easy to communicate with.
Rich walked us through every element of the house he inspected and seemed to truly enjoy when I had questions... he genuinely wants to share his knowledge and have the customer(s) learn from his decades of experience.
The report he provided came within 24hrs of the inspection (holy cow!!) and was a beefy manifesto of 115 pages that detailed every element of the house with clear descriptions, pictures, and diagrams. Also included were loads of useful supplemental materials concerning all aspects of home ownership and maintenance that, as a first time home buyer with zero experience with home ownership, I have found invaluable.

Rich is the most thorough home inspector out there. He goes over things with you in person while conducting the inspection and provides an extremely detailed home inspection report within 24 hours. I have used him in the past and continue to use him when ever a home inspection is needed.

Would just like to share what a wonderful experience we had using Rich and Kathy from Know Your Home Inspections! Everything was seamless from start to finish. We hired Rich from Know your Home for inspections twice in a 10 day period. After being referred by our realtor Liz Finnegan (love her!) and reading his reviews we decided to go with him. Rich was amazing to work with, super personable, thorough, and having had a construction business prior made him very knowledgeable and able to give rough estimates of our ideas and address concerns as they were found. Unfortunately, after a lot of issues on the first deal we had to pull the plug. 10 days later after another accepted offer, we hired Rich again, just as thorough as the first and was sure to explain each and every thing found. I cannot say enough about the job Rich did inspecting the home we plan to purchase. Over the course of the last 30 years I have owned 5 homes and I have made offers on 3 others which needed to be inspected. Each time the inspection was professional but most were superficial at best. Rich spent hours at this location, and provided an extraordinarily detailed report which was invaluable during the negotiations. The money we spent was worth every penny.

This is the second time I had requested Rich for our home inspection.The quality service I received the first time is still the same. He was there early, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He walked us through everything and told us as he went what needed to be done and what everything was for. He was very thorough and even checked the temperatures we were getting for water and the heat. I would request his services again in the future.
