My family purchased an early 1890s Farmhouse in Shelton. It had been in various states of remodel when we took over ownership. As soon as we brought in Kaizen to take over the process of remodeling, Gabe worked to understand our vision of bringing the home up to date but maintaining the character of its original build. He made every effort to source material from the original time period and when he couldn’t, he chose materials that fit the esthetic. When the architect would come back with plans that didn’t feel right, he collaborated with me to make the changes happen that best fit the needs of our space. The entire process was clearly communicated and when a structural curve ball was thrown our way, Gabe was quick to give us a fairly priced solution and Gabe’s problem-solving allowed us to create a roof deck with an incredible view. By the end of our work together, Gabe felt like an old friend - we would have family and friends visit the site and Gabe was incredibly personal and respectful to all of us.

I look forward to building with him and his team in the future. I highly recommend Kaizen to anyone who is looking to build or remodel a house that you want to feel at home in.

Six years ago my husband, Scott and I approached Gabe with a homemade house model and subsequently a set of plans for our dream retirement home on Island Lake in Shelton. Our inspiration was an old fashioned craftsman bungalow. Gabe worked with us every step of the way to achieve this, even in spite of some very difficult engineering and large beams. It came together beautifully! Our greatest compliment is when neighbors comment from the lakeside, that our home looks like it has been here all along.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
