Their work is shoddy. They lie to your face, then get mad when you call them out on their sub-standard work. I told Jason (the owner) that the decking material and railing for our deck were wrong. I asked why, in the 3 weeks it sat in my front yard, no one bothered to check to see if it was correct. His answer stunned me. "Why didn't YOU double-check?" ...um, because I hired you so I wouldn't have to do it.
Their framers are garbage. My deck has more waves than a beach. They won't fix it. When the insurance adjuster came out to inspect the finished work, J-Tech submitted a bill for a completed job, according to the adjuster. The job wasn't even half completed. He was not happy.
Now, this is just my opinion, I am not a lawyer or insurance professional, but that sounds a lot like attempted insurance fraud. Again, just my opinion.
It would be difficult to over state how much I hope you find someone else for your construction project.

Your owner made it VERY clear that it will not be fixed by J-tech. He claims there is no way to fix the waves in the deck. I requested he show me 5 other decks you have done that have the same issue. He refused to even answer me. My lawn was trashed, and I was told you won't fix it because it was "not in the contract." I pointed out that neither was fixing the drywall that was busted up, but they fixed that. He got angry and didn't explain the difference between the two. Although I'm sure I know the reason. $.
When your people put in the new windows and doors, they didn't insulate a single one! They did come out and fix that. However, a few months later, I couldn't figure out why it was impossible to warm the house up during the coldest week of the year. I went downstairs to see if there was an issue with my furnace. As I got to the bottom of the stairs, I noticed there was a 1" gap underneath the patio door!
There is plenty more if you would like me to continue. If you are going to fix it or reimburse me for the cost of laying new sod after you tore it up, give me a call. I'm sure Jason knows who I am.
Again, to everyone considering J-Tech for anything, save yourself the headaches and frustration, and look elsewhere.
*edit*
So, I went downstairs today and noticed there is STILL a gap under the door, and there is ice build-up on the inside bottom of the door. This time is not nearly as bad as it was before. But when im spending $90,000, i should be able to expect a little higher level of professionalism and quality in their work.
These clowns have had 2 chances to get it right. Let's see if they are going to fix it this time. I will edit again once I hear their response. But if past experience is any indication, they will come up with some excuse about why it's not their responsibility. Please, for your own sanity, hire someone else. Someone who is going to be honest and stand behind their work.
