Jason took my call and answered all of the questions that I had regarding gravel for a driveway extension I’m doing that a lot of the quarries and haulers just couldn’t or wouldn’t answer for me. He was transparent, knowledgeable, and straight to the point. I really appreciate the time he took to do this. He reiterated that 21A is NOT the same thing as crusher run even though a lot of places will market it as such, advised to lay #3 as a base below the 21A, and emphasized the importance of vibratory rolling when laying down the gravel. I walked away from that conversation with more insight and more confidence in tackling my project. I’ll definitely be reaching out if I ever have any larger project needs. Just from that one conversation, I know the competence level that he has and am confident that he would not only do a good job, but do it right.

Awesome. I had my yard ripped out and replaced by these guys when the mass production builder left me with nothing but rocks and construction debris for dead and dying sod to grow upon. Fabulous job by J&K. Completely cleared out, machine raked of rocks (and hauled away) and debris, good new topsoil spread out and topped off with hydroseed. After having our pool installed we had an issue with the grading resulting in dirt overtaking the retaining wall. They came in, adjusted the swale, put down hydroseed and within 3 weeks we had fully covered grass with zero drainage issues. They did such an amazing job with communication and work, I'd highly recommend using them for any work, especially after a major project.

J&K graded an area of my yard that had been scrub and trees for a very long time so you can imagine the difficulty. Two trips, one to pull stumps and coarse grade and the second to fine grade and seed. The job was done beautifully and everyone was nice and polite, communicated with plenty of notice, came when they said, repaired damage due to heavy eqpt on my existing lawn, all of which I appreciated. I’d call them any time for heavy landscaping jobs.

I would strongly recommend J&k Ground Maintenance. I just built a new home and it required a lot of prep, and quite honestly just a lot of work before any seeding could take place. They did an exceptional job preparing the ground and within a week and a half I had grass coming up. They were responsive, accommodating, professional for a responsible price. I plan to use their services moving forward!

Needed to replace culvert and cover with asphalt. First - Jason came on-stie to look at the job. He explained the work needed and the process. J&K does not do asphalt but did arrange to have asphalt laid. Was extremely nice to deal only with Jason and not have to worry about finding someone to do the asphalt work separately. All included in one quote. Second â Received quote for the work promptly. Third â J&K Installed the culvert and new asphalt, completed in a reasonable time. Weather delays. Fourth â Found out there was a second problem which caused the old culvert to fail. Needed the drainage ditch cleaned out because over the years it had filled in with dirt. The water was not running as it should. Jason investigated what it would take to correct the issue and made a recommendation. Give us a quote for the work and start immediately. We are VERY satisfied with all the work they have done. Special note -J&K work crew cleaned up after themselves each day. One more thing I need to say about this job site. Exceedingly difficult because of the drainage issue, but Jason and his team stayed the course, took their time and the water is running off. Their work is very professional. Looks WONDERFULL. Would highly recommend J&K Ground Maintenance.

I couldn't be more pleased with the experience I had with J&K Grounds Maintenance - they have solved a problem for me that has been plaguing my property since I moved in three years ago. Namely, the access road to my home was poorly designed and would wash away with every rainstorm. Within a week a contacting Jason, I moved from a quote to job completion! We had a great experience with J&K. Our gravel driveway was a series of potholes and lakes when it rained. As a result of the excellent work J&K performed on my gravel driveway last year, I reached out to them again to convert two large areas of rock-laden ground into extensions of my front lawns. They took their time to extract hundreds of small rocks, then carefully laid topsoil and put down a mix of non-erosion grass seed. They also recommended overlaying hay netting over some of the areas where I know water runs when it rains. Good idea. I expect the end product to look great. If there is an issue, I am confident Jason will come back to address.

I’ve waited six months to write this because I truly do not like writing negative reviews. However, I couldn’t let this go unacknowledged anymore. J&K put down fertilizer and seed in 11/2023. Before we could sweep away the residual fertilizer from our walkway and driveway, it rained, and little did we know that the fertilizer would cause rust stains all over. My husband called J&K and we were told, “it’ll come off eventually.” It’s now been six months and we have exhausted options to remove it. We’ve spent so much money on products and wasted so much time scrubbing the walkway to our house and it has made little to no difference. We even hired another landscaping company to come help and that didn’t work either. Luckily the driveway is dark so that isn’t visible (thank God because we recently moved in and the previous owners redid the driveway). We now have a painter coming to assess it and see what products we can use to cover it up; our last option short of leaving it be or replacing the walkway (both $$$$). I wish I could give a better review because the lawn services were fine; but they could have done was clean up after themselves or at the VERY LEAST simply tell us to clean up before it rained— all could have been avoided.

When I was first contacted by J&K Grounds and Maint. about my project to expand my driveway, I had never heard of them. The first thing I did was to check their web page. I was impressed by the quality of equipment they used. Being in the construction industry, I know a little something about equipmet. They used catepillar equipment, which is top quality. They could have bought cheaper equipment, but didn't. Some of the other contractors I checked didn't even have web pages. This was a factor in my decision.

When speaking with Jason, he was very professional and courteous to talk to. I knew how I wanted my driveway to be expanded and what materials I wanted used ahead of time. Before telling Jason this I asked him how he planned on doing the work. His plan was actually better than what I was planning. This was great.

I contracted Jason's company to do the work. His estimate was on the high side. It wasn't the highest, but second highest of about 7 contractors. He agreed to come by to look at the property and do the work at certain times. The important thing to remember here is that he came when he said he was going to come and he was on time! He was very good about communicating his intensions with me and kept me updated on his timeline. I hate when people say they are going to come and don't show up. Jason's crew did the work in a timely manor and addressed all the concerns I had fully. I believe his company stands by their work. I don't believe however, I he will need to come back to do any remediations. It's been over a month since the work was performed and I'm still happy with the work. I will be contacting Jason for future work.

Jason, Bryce and team did fantastic work! Had several issues to address on my property. They provided a proper and final grade, backfilled my driveway, power-raked to fix lots of ruts, hydroseeded and introduced solutions to fix years of erosion.

Great business! From start to finish working with J&K Grounds Maintenance was a great experience. We started working with J&K in spring 2023, I called for an estimate on seeding our lawn and Jason came out the next day. He took his time explaining what our very neglected yard (visualize dirt, weeds & moss) needed in preparation for fall seeding. During the summer at each treatment Jason showed up on the day and time scheduled, even giving a courteous reminder the day before. Our seeding was scheduled months in advance and the day before I received a text asking if tomorrow was still good for us and letting me know his arrival time.
When they were finished Jason had seeded more area than he quoted because he still had seed left!! He didn’t have to do that but he did. We were blown away by the extra area he seeded.
Within the first week we had grass sprouting and two weeks later our yard looks gorgeous! Jason came by today to check on the lawn, he said he will be back in the spring to take care of any thin spots that may occur. Jason also patiently answered all my questions letting me know what we need to do to care for our newly planted lawn.

My yard had developed some ugly bare patches that I just couldn’t seem to get fixed no matter what I did. I also had a lot roots from our tree emerging from the soil. Jason and J&K team came out and assessed the problem and proposed adding topsoil and hydroseeding the entire lawn. They were incredibly efficient getting the job done laying down a really thick mix of topsoil and fertilizer before spraying the hydroseed. I was shocked at how fast the grass came up. I had a number of folks in the neighborhood remark about it too. Jason continued to follow up with me in the months following the treatment to make sure it was going well and advise me on taking care of any areas that had any issues. I would recommend J&K to anyone who asked and plan to continue using them for future projects.

I am very satisfied with Jason and J&K's work on my almost unusable driveway. J&K has done maintenance work on out HOA’s gravel roads for the past two years and has done a great job for us. Jason and his team fixed our drainage issues, regraded and recrowned our gravel roads. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable and knows how to get the best results while staying within budget. Looking forward to using J&K again.

If I could rate less than one star I would do so. Jason said all the right things when selling us “custom” landscape care and promising customer satisfaction. After doing our job he stopped responding; he and his team ignored repeated inquiries on maintenance programs he promised were available etc; he promised additional steps never completed including leveling certain aspects of our yard for a smooth ride with our mower. All of the grass he laid failed miserably in the coming months and we had to shovel out funds again to redo grass work he promised could not and would not fail in Virginia soil. Run.

J&K has performed gravel road maintenance for our community for the past two years. The work included grading some of the roads to improve drainage and the application of gravel. The owner and workers are knowledgeable, professional and work with us to accomplish this work within our budget. They’ve got all of the equipment necessary to do the job correctly and efficiently. We’re happy with the result and plan to use them again in the future.

Jason was terrific, knowledgeable and professional, from our first meeting through project completion. J&K regarded our 3/4 mile long gravel road in a day, which included cleaning out the drainage ditches and distributing new gravel. Jason was very responsive, he came out same day to do a walk-through and initial price estimate. His price range and the amount of stone was within my back of the napkin estimate. I had an 800' long private drive that needed to have 4" of gravel put down, to be re-graded, and a crown to drain water off. The driveway was in disrepair when I bought the property. Jason had my driveway looking and feeling brand new in a day. I recommend his services, he also does maintenance, something I will be availing myself of!

I waited nearly a full year to review so I could give a complete and honest review. We have a small private road shared by 10 houses. We needed our road repaired and drainage corrected and it hadn’t been done in decades (other than adding gravel). Jason came out and met with us to go over what needed to be done, what our priorities were, and what kind of budget we had. He explained all of the required work and even broke down what would be a priority and what would be ok to wait on. He gave use multiple quotes within days to give us different options on what would work for us. His crew was out as scheduled and were all extremely polite and were beyond amazing and patient when speaking with the homeowners when they stopped with questions/concerns. They completely redid our road ahead of schedule which included regrading, cutting ditches, installing/replacing culverts, putting down gravel, and seeding. They cleaned up any mess they made, even where they staged their equipment. Jason followed up with us a few days later and went through the whole community with me to make sure everything was good. We had some punch list items (to be expected) and they promptly fixed everything. We had a HUGE rainstorm the following week which washed out most of the seed they had put down and again, they promptly returned to reseed. He has come through multiple times just to check in and make sure everything is holding up fine (which it’s all been perfect!). We ultimately decided to move forward with their maintenance plan and plowing service. They plowed this week and did a wonderful job making sure that the entrance to everyone’s driveway wasn’t blocked from the snow pushed on the road. They plowed edge to edge of the road so we still had the width of the road we needed.
This company cares and takes their time to ensure their customers are happy and taken care of. After dealing with multiple contractors in the area to service our community I am beyond thankful for them! They are fair, professional, competent, and responsive. I HIGHLY recommend!!

We used Jason and his team about a year ago to fix our 0.5-mile gravel driveway and install a new culvert. The culvert work was good and has stood the test of time. However, the other problems with the driveway -- regrading and ditching -- were initially fixed but immediately reverted to the same problem after only one or two rainstorms. Jason came back to fix some of the areas without an additional charge for labor (only materials) which we appreciated and made sense to us, but unfortunately the same thing happened again -- the problem areas came immediately back after a single rainstorm. At that point, Jason was willing to come back to fix them but said he would charge us again for labor on the same area, which seemed unfair to us given that the problem was never fixed to begin with. Overall, I got to know Jason a bit and like him as a person and would have liked to continue working with him but ultimately didn't trust the services he was providing. Our driveway is relatively hilly with turns, so I wouldn't recommend Jason and his team for this kind of gravel driveway. But it seems like he does good work for more straightforward ditching and grading based on other reviews here.

We have lived in our house for 15 years and I have been looking for someone to fix our gravel driveway and drainage for almost as long. We found J & K Grounds Maintenance through Home Advisor and after looking at their website and reading reviews we contacted them. We have to say that this is by far the best experience we have had with a contractor in a very long time; from the initial meeting to the finished product.
Our driveway was widened and graded with new gravel. We needed a new, much wider culvert and it was done precisely as we discussed. These guys weren’t in a hurry and paid attention to every detail of the driveway. A few nice, dry days went by and then one night it rained extremely heavily and our garage flooded. We contacted J & K to ask if they could help and they came out early the next morning to take a look; a couple days later we had a drainage system installed on both sides of the driveway.
Since then, the remnants of Ida came through, with very heavy rainfall. The new drainage system worked perfectly, no water in garage and no water pooling in driveway!

Our long driveway was in serious disrepair. Jason and his company did an amazing job in restoring it. He was extremely responsive and showed up on time. The price was great for the quality of work done.

Professional service and on time. Explained everything from start to finish. Jason and his team did and excellent job. Needed my front yard redone and they came out and completed the job In a few hours.

Jason and his crew did a great job on our driveway and parking area. They even came back after it rained to touch up the entire job. His attention to quality is why I’d hire him again. UPDATE - I had J&K come back this spring and had them do all 4 of their yard treatment plans which included fertilizers, lime application, soil analysis, weed treatment, and bug treatment. My yard is green as can be and is a like walking on a carpet. We have no weeds and am very pleased with everything they have done to make our half acre yard incredible. If you need a new lawn, don't wait and call J&K. If your yard needs some work with making it great again, call J&K for their treatment plans.
Jason and his team were great. I had two areas in my yard that needed help. The front yard was put in by the builder and was horrible. The front yard died and mostly weeds. The back yard was sod around a pool area that was completely bad and was dead as well. I called Jason and he came to my house shortly after speaking with him. He gave suggestions on what he could do to fix the yard. He was able to do the job a week later and did awesome. He was able to remove all the sod and power rake the front removing all the dead grass. Jason hydro seeded the front and back along with grading the low spots that needed it. Again, Jason and his team did a great job and very pleased. If you need yard help, call Jason. He is honest and hardworking and will make your yard great again.

Jason came to our rescue after we had used every major lawn company and ended up with dirt and a few weeds. Jason not only understands maintenance but is masterful at recovery. His equipment, tools and materials are first rate and his experience in applying advanced techniques is what made the difference for us. We know that real change takes time and we expect it will take a while to reclaim our golf course quality lawn, but Jason is almost there with just a few months effort
