Great experience! We had a list of small repairs around the house and our technician Nate did a fantastic job of fixing everything in a timely manner - everything now looks and works great! Also Nate was very pleasant, polite, and competent. We will definitely use this company again!

I am happy with the work done by Iowa Home Consulting with getting shelves installed at my house. The installation was quick but took a bit longer than expected.
I am overall satisfied with the work.

My only suggestion will be about providing estimates, please explain why a certain task will cost a certain amount of dollars. Other businesses also provide an estimate but don’t explain why that amount was provided as an estimate.
As a customer, I don’t know where that cost estimate came from?

This group is the best contractor I have worked with anywhere. They are very efficient and make sure the job is done right the first time. Used them a couple times, one for redecking my deck, and most recently for replacing a window. They always honor their pricing and i highly recommend if you are looking for great work to be done and never worry about it later down the road. They never try to cheat you out of anything and if possible try to give advice for ways to not spend more than needed. Will definitely give them a ring again for the next project.

After struggling to get two contractors to send estimates, Iowa Home Consulting came in and within 36 hours we had a reasonable, detailed estimate. Zack was AMAZING! He and his crew did a fantastic job. Easy to communicate with, and Zack answered all questions and provided helpful input on the project (LVP throughout main level, all new trim and baseboards, and fireplace update to include removal of hearth and tile work). It looks so good! Highly recommend this company!

Julian and Daniel did a fantastic job staining our deck. They were punctual, courteous, and very professional. Unlike the handyman who painted the same deck last year, they completed the job on time and without stains in the surrounding walls. I would definitely recommend them for similar jobs.

Matthew listed everything I needed completed. The carpet was removed and hauled away. The appliances were also removed and hauled away. The walls were primed and painted. New LVP flooring was installed. A new kitchen sink, faucet, and garbage disposal were installed. A new bathroom light was installed. This was all completed within 2 weeks. They stayed within budget. We were very pleased.

Very timely for arrival and did a great job, even coming back with new caulk a week later when the original didn't quite match.

IHC painted my house and another house I own. Their employees obviously take pride in their work. They maintained a clean job site throughout the project, scraping both houses, priming, and finish painting. Excellent work on both houses, we couldn't be happier with the final result. They also built new steps on the other house. We will will definitely use them on future projects.

It had a been amazing working with this crew. They have done about 5 general repairs for me and I am always impressed by the result! It can be so difficult finding the right person to do repairs but you can never go wrong with this company.

They did a great job on our bathroom remodel! Matthew helped us choose materials and get the whole project set. Nate transformed our bathroom with his skills. This company is unique in that they are contractors who care—they don’t no show, they are on time, they explain the process, and they get the job done and follow through. The crew was all very friendly too.

Communication was a bit tricky at times and they had to reschedule a few times so that was a bit frustrating, but they were the only company (I contacted more than 4, I’d say) that even got back to me at all when I inquired about my exterior home repairs. Once on the job they were quick, professional, and did a great job. I don’t know the wait time for all project types, but my wait was a little over a year.

Exceptional service; co-ordinated well with us and accommodated suggestions; creatively addressed all challenges of the property layout and terrain. Project was completed in a timely manner with absolute professionalism. We used IHC services for deck and window repairs in the past and our experience then was the same as now.

Iowa Home Consulting provided a fair estimate for the work we wanted done. They did the work on time, did high quality work and charged the same amount as their estimate, despite fluctuations in supply prices.
We will have them back for more home repairs later this year!

It took a few months to get a quote and a few more before the contractor could come out to work on the project, but I'm very happy with the end result.

We appreciated the repairs in our basement shower. Dry well done and now it functions as it should. Plumbing needed to be replaced as well as concrete and tile. The repair work that needed drywall and paint was efficiently handled. It was in a tough spot that seemed impossible to fix, but Curt did a great job. At the same time there was a hole from roof leakage and he patched that as well. Thanks SO much!

The two guys who helped me move out were quick and efficient (and nice, too!). I ended up being overcharged due to a miscommunication and, after I reached out to the company about this, I got an immediate call to correct the payment issue. Excellent service, definitely recommend.

I had a very good experience with this company. They moved a couple treadmills for me. They were there on time, were very careful and pleasant to work with. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them.

Kurt did an excellent job removing popcorn texture from our kitchen ceiling. Then he painted the ceiling and installed new fixtures. He completed the job within a day so we had no interference with our daily routine.

Highly recommend not utilizing this company!!! I just purchased a home and IHC caused more damage to my siding, did not do all of the work, did a terrible job, and charged entirely too much. I found out the employee that was sent out had no idea what he was doing and was not trained to complete this job. DO NOT hIre this company!!!

I have used IHC for several years and have never been disappointed with their work. Very friendly people to work with and their pricing is very reasonable.

After the derecho I recieved several quotes to repair our deck and replace the entry door. Iowa Home Consulting was the most responsive and they did a good job of keeping in contact regarding delays as well as letting me know when the price of lumber had dropped a bit. When we were finally ready to get started unfortunately the person who was our primary contact became less available and then suddenly left the company. This all happened a couple weeks before our baby was due. I was really nervous because the damage needed to be repaired and I wasn't keen on having construction occurring while caring for a new baby. The owner of the company called me and came out and looked at the project. When I went into labor early I emailed him letting him know I would be unavailable and gave him alternative contact information. He had the entire project done before I was released from the hospital. After talking to my husband who was in and out I found out that he had done everything himself. I am so impressed with this company, not only because of the responsiveness and hard work of the owner, but also everything they do for animal shelters in the area. I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to others.

I had a need for ceiling repair in both halves of a duplex. The estimator only looked at one half (without telling me). The other tenant informed me that the estimator never looked at his damage. When I got an estimate in my email, I replied to ask if the estimate was for one or both sides. Now they are not answering my calls or emails.

I guess I'll go find someone else, but this has been a huge waste of my time, and my tenants have been waiting to get their spaces fixed up because of these guys.

UPDATE: After seeing this review, the owner called me the next day to set up a time to personally go assess the damage. If that goes well, I will edit this review.

FINAL UPDATE: The owner looked at the damage and we arranged a time for the work to get done. The work took a little longer than anticipated, and the end result isn't the best looking, but hey, at least it cost less than the estimate.

There was some confusion at first about scheduling that took a few phone calls to clear up, but once the team arrived they were fantastic—super friendly, thorough, and thoughtful. I couldn't believe how much progress they made each day and how well they cleaned up each evening. The finished job looks outstanding... we get tons of compliments!

Called to request a quote for a new deck build. Someone eventually contacted me through text and continued to communicate through text. A little unprofessional but I figured maybe he’s comfortable communicating this way. We setup a time for his estimator to come out and give me a quote on a new deck. The estimator never showed up for the appointment time. I tried contacting the individual who I had been communicating with and never got a response. It’s been over two weeks now and no response still. Very unprofessional or they just didn’t care for my business, either way I wouldn’t recommend this business to anyone.

Nick and Jacob replaced the bathroom tile and improved a hallway closet with shelves and a coat of new paint. Both men were polite, thoughtful, efficient, and excellent at their work.
I especially appreciated all the extra touches such as cleaning up at the end of the day so the bathroom remained useable. I was very pleased with the result and still enjoy looking at it and admiring the skill with which it was completed.

The phrase, over commit and under deliver would be a valid company slogan. Committed to a deck staining project August 2019. Simply put they never got around to me. Rescheduled me multiple times over the fall and never made time for me. Communication in a service job is a base expectation. So it was increasingly frustrating for me to constantly stir up the communication. I've spoken to and emailed Matt, Sean, and Ross. I've spoken to Matt probably 3x this summer to keep him updated with my current projects and to plan and schedule the deck staining accordingly. Now he pushes me off to Sean and I can't even get an email response. It seems this place operates with a very laissez faire attitude. So if you're someone who doesn't care about when the job gets done, as long as it gets done, so be it. If you're actually trying to plan things out and need things done at a certain time - look elsewhere. I feel stupid for wasting a year with these folks.

Provided quality work on my window replacement. The crew was very attentive to concerns and requests, which is very much appreciated!

We hired them to repair our deck, siding, and to paint the deck and walk. The crew were professional and wonderful to work with. We added to our original work estimate and they willingly obliged our requests. I can't say enough about how professional the entire crew was. The work was completed in a timely manner. We will hire them again. I highly recommend them.

We had a few jobs done by them. All were done in a timely manner and look great. When they repaired and stained our deck, the guys went under the deck to make sure no animals would be trapped by them closing in up! Will definitely be using them again for future projects. Love that they support animal shelters.

I have used Iowa Home Consulting for a wide variety of jobs, from cleaning my gutters, to placing down ceramic tile flooring, seeding my yard, fixing my storm door, hauling away debris, and installing light fixtures. They have also done a complete remodel of my mudroom.
I have never had a complaint with the quality of their work and they are fair with what they charge. I plan to continue using Iowa Home Consulting for all my home construction and handyman needs.

Excellent experience. We had our basement finished with Iowa Home Consulting. The entire process, all the way from initial estimate to final day, was very smooth. We had the interior of our attached 3-stall garage painted and the floor sealed, as well. The workers were exceptionally personable and worked very hard. They went far beyond expectations! The end product was great. We were very pleased.

Iowa Home Consulting was great! I highly recommend them. I just moved into a condo and needed several small jobs done - removing wallpaper and painting a wall, sealing a window, building a piece of furniture, etc. Every step of the way IHC made it easy to work with them...they provided an estimate, were able to do the work within the next few weeks and were extremely professional. Dan did an excellent job on all of the projects and left my house so clean that you would never have known that he had been there painting! Also, they added in hanging a blind for me at the last minute for no charge. I was also experiencing a power outage on the morning Dan came. He was able to work for the first 30-45 minutes with no power and helped me open my garage manually. That was really above and beyond service! The price I paid was exactly what I was quoted and they make it so easy to pay with many online options, including Apple Pay. Will definitely use them again in the future!

I've hired Iowa Home Consulting for so many projects that I've lost track. Drywall repair, painting, deck repair. I had a specific timeframe in mind for this particular project and they were able to work within that. I've always been happy with their work and their prices.

My family has used Iowa Home Consulting multiple times for things around our home. We had a sliding door installed on one occasion, a door threshold repaired and painted after a delivery company damaged things and most recently, our basement put back together after the heavy rains in Ankeny from July 2018. What to expect: A thorough estimate of what needs done, itemized out so it is easy to read. We learned that it can sometimes take a couple/few weeks to get on the books, but that it is worth the wait as the workmanship is excellent. Lastly, they stand by their work. There were some things in our basement finishing, that we weren't happy about. We expressed those concerns and within 2-3 days they came back and finished everything to the high level we have grown accustomed when using their services. Would definitely recommend them to anyone for just about anything!

These guys did a really nice job for me and really care about making sure you are taken care of. They helped me out a couple years back on a painting project and I recently hired them to do some more painting and remodeling work on my new home in Des Moines. Will definitely be calling again!
