Reposting in 2025 as it seems there are now 2 pages for Indy Roof.
It's taken me almost 2 years to write this review. I just haven't had the energy to say something until now but, I do believe it needs to be said. Working with Indy Roof was beyond traumatic during an already stressful time (i.e dealing with insurance) but I will say, it didn't start out that way...
Ben Haynes approached our house in April of 2021 following a pretty wild hail storm that required our home to be completely resided and in need of a new roof. I really liked Ben - he was responsive, punctual, communicative, professional, etc. Out of all of the companies I had reached out to, IRC seemed like the right choice. Before going with Indy Roof I made it clear that we wanted to upgrade siding from vinyl to Hardie Plank. Ben let me know that it wouldn't be a problem. I didn't do any additional research and went with my gut, as I felt like I could trust Ben. I was wrong. Without going into too much detail (for the sake of everyone's time), following handing over $27k to get the job started, and having the roof put on, it became very apparent that our siding job was given little thought...details were left out, communication became sparse, lots of excuses and our original quote from vinyl to Hardie nearly doubled and changed multiple times over the course of months. The reason being was that the job quote was drug out so long that the price of Hardie went up substantially. This was not on us. My husband and I quickly figured out that Ben bit off more than he could chew. We knew we could no longer trust Indy Roof to do the job and do it well. I began doing research on Hardie and read that if it's not hung correctly, it can crack and crumble, voiding the warranty. We had to break contract. It wasn't easy but we did. Despite presenting all of the facts (having email and text proof), Paul Sopke (Ben's manager) decided to disregard any wrongdoing and made little to no effort to make it right. It was the final straw that gave us relief that we were making the right choice.
Fast forward from that point (roughly April 2022) to September 2022, we hired a new company to reside our home. During their install of the Hardie siding, it was discovered that Indy Roof neglected to install the apron/L-flashing (the roof flashing where the roof meets the siding). This was not only a rookie level mistake on Indy Roof but insurance fraud as our insurance company paid out for the entire roof replacement. Indy Roof had to be called out several times to remedy the issue. Even after multiple trips, it was never installed correctly. For the sake of keeping on timeline with our current contractor, they decided to finish the install themselves, at no additional cost to us.
Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend Indy Roof to my worst enemy. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. Before anyone from Indy Roof replies to this review (and I do not have the opportunity for a rebuttal), my husband and I are absolutely customers (or victims, rather) of Indy Roof. If you have any questions or concerns for me, please feel free to look me up on social media (Facebook). I live on the north side of Indy and have a pretty unique name so I shouldn't be too difficult to find.
I have a wonderful company to recommend in lieu of Indy Roof, and would be more than happy to share that info privately.
Side note - if you want a little insight on the type of individual Aaron Christy (IRC owner) is, just google his name + Indianapolis, IN. There's a lovely news article, 5th item down. Fox59 & IndyStar covered the story. Mycase.in.gov will back up the charges.
