Honest Review for Howard Roofing:
I have never requested services from Howard Roofing—or any other contractor in their industry—yet they continue to bombard my email with unsolicited messages. They falsely claim that I submitted a request for roofing or home remodeling services, which is a complete fabrication. I have never asked for a new roof, remodeling, or any related service. I don’t need it, and I never initiated contact with them.
Their approach is deceptive, unethical, and spammy. It’s clear they are scraping contact information or using misleading tactics to solicit business, and that’s unacceptable. Companies like this erode trust in the industry.
Stop the lies. Stop the spam. Do better.
Shingles and roof matter/nails were all over my garden beds, breaking some producing vegetable & flowering plants off (damaging and stopping production for the year), and popped a blow up wading pool on my porch. I have continued to find nails and pieces of shingles months later. I felt unprepared and uninformed where I otherwise may have been able to prevent the damage myself with appropriate coverage and preparation.
Edit: I appreciate the professional responses from the owner and Brandon as well as the offer to replace the items damaged and to bring a large magnet to my property. While I do not need compensation for the plants (grown from seed myself; less monetary value and more sentimental) or the pool (I have already purchased the replacement at the end of season and it was not expensive), I truly heard Brandon during our conversation and continue to appreciate him. My ultimate hope here is that he heard me, too, and Howard can take my point of view as a customer with no previous experience, and my high communication needs, and provide more thorough details and expectations/prep suggestions to future customers. I do not write reviews to harm good people or good companies; as I said to Brandon, I leave super honest reviews for consumers like myself who read them carefully before making a decision on using a company. I have edited my review and changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
10/30/24 Update - Howard Roofing contacted me to go over my concerns with the new roof install. They showed real concern for my roof install & the concerns I had. They were professional, & treated me with a sincere goal of doing whatever it takes to make things right. I understand every job cannot be perfect 100% of the time. I own a business myself. It's what a company does when things do not go as planned that separates them from the rest. Howard Roofing took my concerns seriously. They immediately sent a crew over to inspect the roof & to make sure no nails were left on the ground. I walked around my house daily & have not found one nail. I worked closely with Jason from Howard Roofing. I cannot give Jason enough credit! Jason listened to all my concerns, & addressed every concern one by one. He spent an entire day today making things perfect. The drip edge was replaced to have less seams. The fascia was replaced to match the color of the drip edge. Jason did a phenomenal job! I am using Howard Roofing to replace all gutters, & downspouts. They went beyond my expectations to make sure I was happy with their work & all concerns were addressed. They deserve a 5 star rating!
10/23/24 - Original post. The absolute worst roofing company I have ever seen in 20 years owning a house. They made errors on the order and did not bring plywood. I was to have a section of wood replaced where an old dish salelite was. I found their error before they left and complained. The old guy they sent to my house argued with me from my roof over why I wanted the wood replaced. He said "There is nothing wrong with it". I told him it was ordered and paid for so I want it replaced. Instead of replacing the entire 8ft piece per the quote, they cut a 4ft section instead. The old guy continued to argue with me because he would have to re do the shingles they installed due to their error. The wood had holes in it from the dish satellite and had clear water damage. They were to replace any wood with water damage, however they had no wood delivered. I had to speak with multiple people to get the one piece of plywood delivered. The crew did not speak English and had to use their phone to translate. They were very sloppy, they left trash and debris all over my front and back yard. My neighbor had to complain to the crew to pick up their trash which had blown into the street and his yard. I complained to yet another person at Howard Roofing who did not care about the problems at my house and told me he had to go then hung up on me. The crew was leaving when I stopped them because they forgot to finish the roofing over the bay window. They had to dig out of their dumpster, pieces of metal flashing to finish the already horrible job. When my roof leaks from their repair attempt, they will be responsible. The old guy that argued with me over their screw up had the last name Howard. He stated he has been doing roofs for 30 years. This was not the owner but related to him. I was told the owner only reads emails. Just because you do something for 30 years does not mean it was done right. This was the most rude, argumentative person I have had to deal with from a roofing company and it was their error but he took his frustration out on me the customer. No where close to being professional. Next time when you screw up a job, don't argue with the home owner. Try owning your mistakes so you get better. The pictures of their horrible work are attached. Including the piece of wood with holes in it and water damage the old guy said had nothing wrong with it. 30 years and this guy cannot spot water damage. Maybe overseeing roof replacements is not the job you should be doing. Also, they left trash and nails all over my yard and my neighbors yard. They had to use my ladder to put on the roofing material over the bay window and to get tools they left on my shitty roof. The pictures are hard to see but there are hundreds of plastic pieces all over my yard and my neighbors yard. I strongly suggest using any company over Howard Roofing based on my experience today.
