I don’t appreciate them saying they aren’t solicitors when they are. We have a sign out and the younger girl pointed out the sign to the older lady and the older lady stated “we aren’t soliciting, religion, or politics” apparently they didn’t realize they were being recorded. If you see a sign don’t knock or ring the bell. So now because of that, when we do need repairs we won’t use this company. Which sucks because you guys have good reviews but I have a baby and just got in from a cross country flight early this morning and they woke us up. Respect people’s signs and homes

Skyler was professional, knowledgeable, and patient. I'm a very inquisitive person, and oftentimes sales reps become annoyed. So, for him to show that level of professionalism deserves a 5-star rating and review from me. Thank you, Skyler!

Skylar came to my door with a couple of coworkers today asking if I needed any work done on the exterior of the house. The only thing I was interested in getting done was new railings on my porch, which they apparently aren't qualified to do.

The employees are financially incentivized to ask for a 5 star review, and he was nice, so I gave him one. Did not get any work done so I can't speak to their quality. The only thing I know now about this company is they're one of many contractors who artificially inflate their average review score with this tactic.

Homefix's door to door lead canvaser Kirklin C. was very pleasant and knowledgeable on their products, which may not be tremendously complicated but, there are details to consider. I spoke with him outside our single story brick front Ranch style house, and I do think I had any question he was unprepared to answer. We needed gutters "restored" in the front of the house, so this is simply one of those homeowner things that needed TO BE done. -- If I am able to add Before and After pictures here at a later date, I certainly will.

Update:
Since my boyfriend and I are still being hounded to change our review, I will give an update as per the request of Homefix.

After the shotty work was completed, we got call after call of rudeness and threats from Homefix to collect payment on their completed job. We told them that we were not signing off on anything until they fixed all the mistakes done to our property. They kept offering us a $200 gift card to make up for it and when we said "no" they just claimed management would call us back with an acceptable offer for reimbursement. Which of course never came. This back and forth happened for a month or so. Unfortunately, those fixes took so long to get completed that there was about $350 worth of water damage done to our brand new wooden gate. But we had to get our other contracting company that installed our fence to come give an estimate to repair and replace the damaged wood before Homefix would acknowledge the damage was caused by the poorly placed downspouts. This was of course only one of the many problems we had from their work. We eventually agreed to sign off on the job after receiving a $2k reimbursement just to be rid of them.
Now we get calls monthly offering us deals for other home repair projects. We laugh out loud and let them know we never want them to set foot on our property ever again.

I am a person that always gives 5 star ratings even if I have a bad experience. Because I believe leaving bad reviews doesn't really help the situation. However, this is an attempt to help save other people from getting scammed by this company. If I could give a negative rating score, I would.

STAY AWAY FROM HOME FIX! SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE.

P.S. Thank you Home Fix for your constant bombardment and reminding me that I also need to report you to the BBB.

Original Post:
Just wanted to give a warning to all my Hampton Roads neighbors. There is a company called Home fix that "specializes" in gutters, windows, doors, and roofs. The sales people sell you the respectful, professional, dependable customer service and reputation of their company. They tell you the multiple steps they have in place to make sure communication lines are open and you get what you need out of working with them.

None of that actually exists.

We purchased gutters. Then we took the day off, to make sure we were here for any assistance they might need. They showed up 6 hrs past the 6 hr window with the wrong color gutters. So had to arrange another visit.

Attempt number two, started with them breaking my front doorknob, claiming it was "like that." A sexist crew that wouldn't talk to me or answer any of my questions or concerns. They made me feel like I was trespassing in my own yard every time
I approached to try again. Yet as soon as my boyfriend walked up, they struck up a conversation with him. We had downspouts put in ridiculous areas that are going to surely damage our brand new fence and circuit boxes. The entire time I was trying to at least talk to the sales woman who guaranteed she would over communicate with me and was ignored almost the entire time.they put gutters OVER existing cords and decorative pillars and lights. As well as dangerous equipment they left in our yard for or 7 year old to find.

When we finally spoke to an install manager and they claim that every point that the sales woman
sold us on was an out right lie. The phone calls prior to that we were supposed to verify we were on the same page, the walk through before and after the install for the same reason, the promptness of their work crews, the hooking up to the equipment we already purchased to repurpose the water, and the verification of no hazards being left over for kids or animals.

EVERY POINT THAT WE ACTUALLY PURCHASED WAS A LIE. We were going to do our gutters ourselves and already purchased a decent amount of materials to do so. The only reason we agreed to this purchase were these points providing "peace of mind."

Whatever you do, DO NOT hire Home Fix. You are getting screwed

1 year ago Christine McGill approached us as we were leaving BJ's and we purchased a much needed front door and outer door. She sold us and now we are happy to have warmth in the winter months and the prevention of escaping air in the hot months.

We had a fantastic experience with Homefix Custom Remodeling (Norfolk) for our window installation. Marissa did an excellent job introducing the company to us and offering a competitive price. Steve efficiently took all the precise measurements for our new windows. Finally, Andrew and his crew did a superb job with the installation. They worked quickly and provided outstanding customer service. Overall, I highly recommend them and will definitely use their services for future home projects.

Called this company and want to set up an appointment for a quote. They required all the owners of the house to meet them at appointment time. If not, they won’t come out at all. So Weird!!! So unfriendly for both working families. We will move on to find another company.

Things I really liked: They do their own training and don't use subcontractors. The crew they sent out to do the work, worked! They were usually here between 7:30 or 8 in the morning and stayed until 5 in the evening. It took 3 days.
Things I didn't like: They inflat their prices tremendously! We have a small to average size home. The price started out at over 36,000 and ended up at just over 21,000. They didn't do any trim, which stills shocks friends and family. I've been told that trim and siding should always be done together. Also, the dumpster that was brought out tore up our yard, and that company didn't bother with repairing it at all! Lastly, we have unattached removable cement steps in back of our home. They workers said they couldn't move them, so we have no siding behind them. The workers put so.e makeshift trim around it!? We'll see if that gets fixed along with a torn screen. I will post later if the company really cares and comes through for us.

UPDATE: Well, we found a couple of other things wrong that we've been trying to get fixed for well over 2 months. They will not even try to remove our removable steps to continue the siding. (There was our old siding behind our steps, and they removed it.) They said we would have to hire someone to do that. I'm sorry, that should have been told to us from the start! The salesman took pictures of our entire home after a 3 hour presentation and said that Homefix could complete the job. There were no exceptions. They did replace the screen. Then we bought flowers in May and planted them only to realize we could no longer use our spigot because Homefix partially covered it up with the siding! We can't screw a hose in, and when we turn on the water, which we have to carry in buckets to each plant, it goes up under the siding and sprays outward into the yard. (See pictures) We also found rotten wood. So, how do we trust that they didn't put more siding over rotten wood? I am sick of companies like Homefix promising to complete a job they were paid to do and just ignoring and not caring about the customer. I sent them another message telling them that if I didn't hear from them, I would be filing a complaint with the BBB. Never heard back. But they will be hearing from the BBB. Don't use them. They cover up mistakes!

Another update: We got our facet fixed with help from a plumber we hired, even though it was their mistake! No one ever called back about the unfinished siding and rotten wood that they tried to cover up. Of course, they will put their phone number down and ask for you to call them so they can HELP you. Don't believe it! But they will call you and try to get you to hire them to do more work. If you try and tell them they never finished the first job, they just hang up on you! Take a good look at my pictures of the rotten wood. That's the way they left it! What a big mistake we made using Homefix. Never again!

Wesley did a great job explaining the company and what I could gain from their expertise. Unfortunately we were just not in the market for home repair at the moment. However had we been, he would have had a sale and scheduled an inspection of our problems immediately.

Service questions

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
