They put our family at risk — and refused to take responsibility.

We purchased a 2018 Nissan Titan XD from H & K Chevrolet of Archbold in December 2024. The very first time we drove the truck after delivery, the check engine light came on with a P0300 code. Over the following months, the issue persisted despite visits to multiple certified Nissan dealerships and trusted mechanics, diagnostic testing, and costly repairs. Eventually, we were told the truck needed a full engine replacement—after it left us stranded on the side of the road with our three small children.

A certified Nissan dealership later pulled the national service history and discovered the engine codes had been cleared prior to our purchase. H & K Chevrolet never fixed the issue—they simply did a basic oil change and sold us a failing vehicle, hoping we wouldn’t notice.

When we pushed for help—clearly aware that they had sold us a vehicle with a known issue—their sales representative informed us that the General Manager, Logan DeTray, was willing to offer $500 toward diagnostics related to the check engine light. That amount barely covered a fraction of what we had already paid out of pocket and did nothing to resolve the underlying problem. Despite repeated assurances that they would “make it right,” they failed to do so.

To date, we’ve spent over $10,000 trying to make this right. Logan, the General Manager, refuses to speak with us directly. Additionally, we discovered a nearly identical complaint filed with the BBB in June 2024, and there are multiple public reviews on Facebook, Google, and CARFAX (dated November 2022, April 2023, and March 2024) describing the same check engine light problems and unresolved mechanical issues. This demonstrates a pattern of negligence or possible misrepresentation, not a one-time mistake.

We’ve filed a formal complaint with the Ohio Attorney General, but the damage has already been done—financially, emotionally, and to our trust.

Think twice before buying here. Ask for a full inspection report (which we did and they danced around), and don’t be fooled by a quick sale or polished promises. They knew. They sold it anyway. And they walked away.

I'm not big on writing reviews, but I believe in giving credit where it is due whenever possible. H and K auto has exceptional committed employes, from first contact to closing Chris was absolutely fantastic to deal with. Chris was very polite and friendly and was able to respond fast and efficiently to any questions I had and helped guide me through the buying process for my interstate purchase since I'm from Pennsylvania. Im a 30 year old mechanic who looks young for my age, and I'm normally not impressed with service experience from car dealers as they normally think I'm a child with no money or try to take advantage of this young looking kid who doesn't know anything with crazy mark up prices. I was treated with curtsy and respect throughout the whole process and that alone makes this dealership a cut above the rest. They have there own service garage and pre maintenance all there pre owned vehicles before sale so it's ready to roll off the lot, and looking through there lot selection I was blown away at the condition of all the pre-owned vehicles there, they don't have a single lemon in the whole lot. The asking price on there pre-owned selection is incredible, a lot are priced below booking value for quick turnaround on inventory so if your interested in anything on there site get ahold of them or it'll sell fast cuz you don't see reasonable pricing on quality vehicles anywhere anymore. I looked for this exact car for over 2 months straight and everyone I found was marked at least 2k over market or had crazy miles and this one was actually marked 1500 under booking with only 100k miles. All in all it's a absolutely gorgeous car in perfect condition with full Carfax report and 3 months serious xm trial upon purchase. Paperwork took all but 15 minutes, fastest buying process I've ever been through. It was a 14 hour round trip to pickup the car and I'd do it again in a heartbeat to find quality service and vehicles at this level. I can't recommend them enough, if your in the market for a new pre owned vehicle, even if your from a different state, H and K auto will make it worth the trip from anywhere.

I almost never leave 5 stars however they were great. Happy with the used truck I purchased and very happy with service department. They have earned my business. I have a vehicle purchased from another dealer that's been having electrical issues and the service department has taken care of it in a timely matter. Thank you for your honesty and hope you continue to hold this same level of interigty that have displayed to this point. As long as you do I will continue to purchase from you.

BEWARE of the “salespeople” at H&K. I bought a car less than a year ago from them used. Within the last year I have replaced the Brakes, tires, alternator and battery. “Family Auto” is what they say they’re but abusive and untrustworthy people is what they are. Turns out the Transmission was on its last leg and they decided to tell me everything was good on the Dodge I bought. Do yourself a favor and buy from people that aren’t looking to rip you off and leave your family stranded without a car.

UPDATE:
I like how you say that you did everything you could before I bought it and specifically told me that we try to inspect everything before selling it. That says all kinds of things about your staff how I was lied to about any possible defects. It had high mileage but if it is taken care of a car can last a long time. Just say you sold me a Lemon and sucks about my “luck” Womp Womp you don’t care about customers at all unless they buy new. If there was an issue you should have brought it up to me prior to just selling it to me and getting away with robbery.

Was in the market for a used Ford Escape Hybrid and spotted one at H&K. Among the other dealerships across Ohio and Kentucky with similarly-priced Escape Hybrids, Justin on the sales team at H&K made all the difference. He was super responsive and had the car parked right out front when I made the three-hour drive to pick it up. All told, it took less than 90 minutes to test drive, get the paperwork done, and get out the door.

I originally gave a 5 star review and still agree that Chris gave 5 star service and the process was easy for an out of state buyer. I am adjusting my review because of the vehicle. When the vehicle was delivered a little over 3 weeks ago it had a strong musty smell. After a strong rain storm my first week of having the truck I came out and found 1/4 inch of standing water in the front passenger floor. Truck was in the shop for 4 days replacing the sunroom drain tube. I get it back and the next rain storm the passenger floor is again wet (not standing water wet, but damp). Truck is now back in the shop trying to figure out what else could be causing a leak. I understand this is a used vehicle that I bought as-is, but it's been really frustrating spending that much money (and continuing to spend money for a mechanic) on a truck that has serious problems. I wish I never purchased this truck!

I bought a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation and couldn't be happier. Justin was the salesman that sold me the truck. I live about 3.5 hours away and Justin answered all my questions about the truck and sent extra pics that I requested. He was not a pushy salesman at all and made the process very easy. He set us all up with financing before we got to the dealership and were in and out in about an hour. Jacob was the finance guy that helped us out also. He helped us get a great rate for the truck and was a pleasure to work with. If you live far away from this dealership it is worth the drive to buy a vehicle from them.

This a small family owned dealer and you really feel that genuine non-corporate engagement here. Don’t let the small town sway you away. Inventory is all available online and integrated into most of the large third-party vehicle search sites. From the sales staff to finalizing financing, we felt comfortable and cared about during our vehicle purchase process. Pricing was completely fair, below market average, and hassle free. Nothing was pushed on us and communication was open and honest. H&K is a 45 minute drive from us and I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with them again, despite the distance. They will be my first call in the future.

Chris was amazing ! I have been looking for a newer SUV for a while . I was currently driving a 2016 on XL and wanted something newer . Everywhere I looked was either priced really high or high miles … I found this 2022 Yukon on cargurus and it was exactly what I wanted ! Truthfully the last 2 suvs I owned I wanted a white one and settled for black or gray , but not this time ! As soon as I saw it I sent them a message I believe it was a Sunday night … Monday Chris emailed me , by Tuesday I was sold he was AMAZING . Valued my trade in, answered all my questions , sent everything to my banker on Wednesday, Thursday I went to my bank and signed there and got my check and Friday I made the 6 hour round trip to pick up this beauty ! These guys are amazing ! Not pushy , super friendly honestly they were the best car dealership I have ever dealt with . And Archbold Ohio is the cutest small town I have ever seen !

Not a great experience. Bought a newer used truck. It had a dent in the front bumper that I missed, but I think they should have disclosed it. They offered me an estimate of $1300 to fix in response. Car was on empty when I test drove, they said they would fill up as part of purchase and when I got in to drive home saw they only filled half a tank. They also waited until after purchase was complete to tell me there was only one key fob. Three weeks later the truck needed another $1000 repair.

I was having my car serviced and was curious as to how much a new Equinox was costing. I was put on to Justin. He was very helpful letting me know what was available and the pricing. The price was much less than I expected to trade in my 10 year old Equinox. I was ready to trade on the spot but felt that my wife should have a say with the deal. I went home to discuss it. In the next few days, we had a new car. Justin was easy to talk to and even had the chance to visit about he and his family. I have been dealing with this dealership many years. This is not the first time that I have purchased cars from them.

I live in Zanesville, 3 hours away & had been looking for a SUV, without luck for about 3 weeks. I couldn’t find a car that I was in love with until I saw a Yukon on CarGurus that looked too good to be true. Like others I had looked at it was a distance from me & I am a nurse & have been working overtime the last few weeks, so I couldn’t take a full day to go look at a car. I got in contact with Chris who was amazing from the beginning. The whole process was simple & he took the time to explain everything thoroughly. I found an amazing SUV, with all the bells & whistles I wanted, & bought it without looking at it or driving it prior. I gave all my trust to Chris & was not disappointed, as soon as I sat in it I was in love. Chris even had it delivered to my house so I didn’t have to go get it, & had it delivered on a weekend so I could return my rental car since I was paying out of pocket for it. My wife and I recently made the hour drive from Auburn, IN for a 2019 Ram that my wife had seen online. We arrived just as the dealership was opening and we're greeted by Justin. He gladly showed us a few trucks and grabbed some keys for a few test drives. We settled on the original truck we stopped to see. It was the one!! Very easy deal and financing followed. As we went over the final details the guys in the shop washed the truck and even filled the tank full from just over quarter tank. From arrival to drive away was only 2 1/2hr. I recently bought a 2020 F-150 from H&K. Logan and Jacob did a great job. They listened to my concerns/points and addressed them. Very efficient experience - in and out in under 2 hours. Staff was very friendly and the dealership was clean. Vehicle was up front and ready when I arrived and they were prepared for my visit.

Great dealership great people. I’m from California and they made it easy to make a deal over the phone and sign paperwork. They were patient with me and all I had to do was set up shipping. Only downside is not meeting them face to face.

Blendan made my 4hr drive well worth it. The whole staff was friendly, professional, and valued my time, and pockets. They answered all questions, saved me money in the process and the car pictures were spot on from the site. It's been 2 months and everything is perfect. I had a great experience purchasing a used car from Justin and Jake. I had previously driven 10+ used cars at different places and I would always show up and something would be wrong that was never disclosed. I drove 90 mins and Justin disclosed everything about the car before I had left. I was able to make an informed decision and glad I made the drive. If you are looking for honesty when buying a car this is the place to go.

I had no problem with them. They were pleasant and saved me $160. That's how much better their price was on a part I needed.

Definitely would not recommend the service department they were supposed to take my appointment down but they never wrote it down then also overcharged on oil change and charge for individual tire rotation and fluids when I believe that was a standard Chevrolet dealerships complimentary services but apparently not and that simple oil change tire rotation and fluids cost $98 one on average usually only cost me $60 to $65

My wife and I arrived at the Archbold, Ohio dealership on the afternoon of January 18, 2023 to test drive the 2011 Ford Explorer… and it was pretty much clean inside and out. During test drive, we noticed that windshield had two small chips, windshield wiper switch wasn’t working properly, a clunking noise coming from suspension area, and check engine light was on. During the test drive we pulled into the parking lot of Sauders Village to inspect engine… at which I conveyed my concern with the engine timing chain and the expense and possibility of having to replace it. So, upon return to dealership… their mechanic discovered the front struts needed replaced. Then during our conversation with the service manager… he assured my wife and I that they would take care of all of the issues discovered during the test drive… but might take a few days to get parts. On Jan. 27, 2023 my wife and I returned to the Archbold, Ohio dealership for our second test drive… and everything seemed to be fixed… the service manager indicated that the spark plugs were replaced, which should take care of the check engine light issue… but both the service manager and office manager Jacob informed me that if the engine light comes back on to give them a call. On Jan. 31, 2023 I dropped off Explorer at A Plus Auto in Fostoria, Ohio to check over for me and determine the reason for the check engine light on again… and per Adam, our personal mechanic, the main issue with engine was the P0420 code indicating a problem with catalytic converter. On Feb. 01, 2023 I texted Chris, the salesman at dealership… and informed him about the problem, and he informed me he’d get with service manager and would get back with me. Later that same day… they agreed to make the repairs at no cost to me, which would require the replacement of the catalytic converter. On Feb. 07 2023 my wife and I arrived at the Archbold, Ohio dealership and dropped off the Explorer at 9:00 AM… but due to the distance from our home to dealership, we decided to just wait around area until repairs were completed. At or around 2:30 PM, repairs were completed at no cost to us. Overall, the salesman, service manager, office manager and all staff were extremely honest, professional, courteous, and were great to work with during this process… and I would highly recommend to my friends and family. Thanks for making our used vehicle purchase a pleasant experience.

It is really sad that these people are keeping my $500 deposit to hold a vehicle that I informed the salesman the purchase was contingent on my returning a vehicle to another dealership. The other dealership had me swap another of their vehicles instead of a refund. Now Christy is keeping my $500 deposit! When I let him know the situation, I told him that I would try to talk to the other dealership he said okay let him know, but he put the vehicle back online that same day and it sold the next day. They were out nothing but a couple of days. I could understand if we never had a whole conversation concerning my only being able to purchase their vehicle if I received a refund on the returned vehicle, but we did and he fully understood that. How can he sell the vehicle he claimed I had to get, but sold it and is still keeping my money. I will be reporting them to the Attorney General's Office. Yes, they seem nice, but clearly you can't trust anyone. I feel completely ripped off, but there is no way that I'm letting them get away with this.

Front office was nice and competent, but wouldn't trust the service department which is ultimately more important. Bought a used Sierra - within two weeks brakes needed replaced. Checked the monitor when test driving and they showed 100%, appears they reset the monitor which is misleading and dishonest. Disappointed; overall it seemed like a decent place upfront.

Salesman, finance and the lady that picked me up from the airport all went above and beyond. Awesome customer service and friendly staff. I will definitely fly from the west coast again to purchase another vehicle from these folks!!!

The salesman was nice and informative. office was kind of plain and definitely needed to hire a detailer for the vehicles. Aside from that it was alright and hubby left with a new truck and a great price.

My husband called to inquire about a new motor for our vehicle and was told "you couldn't afford it anyway" by one of their service technicians after they'd told us not to replace the bad timing belt until it breaks. The technician proceeded to tell us it would cost $20,000 to replace the motor, refused to provide their name and hung up on us.

In the past the technicians have been disrespectful and dismissing to us, and I absolutely refuse to give them business because it's obvious that we cannot trust them with our vehicle.

I'm new customer to this dealership and have went above and beyond on my expectations on how I was treated on not only buying a new vehicle from Christy but also there service department by far has being one of the best I have ever had dealings with. 5 star is the max but I would give these folks a 10 in a heart beat.

Purchased a Used Chevy Travers and had bring back three days later to have a headlight replaced, tire monitor sensor replaced and new windshield wipers. They say they do an inspection on the vehicles safety items...I am pretty sure these are all safety items. By the way. It is only a week later and now my other head light is out.

I was in from out of town for funeral arrangements and had car trouble. The funeral home director highly recommended Christy's and I went there at the end of a Friday afternoon. They took excellent care of me. Now I highly recommend myself!

I just recently bought a 2017 F150 limited from the Christy dealership and wanted to thank everyone for the great experience I had. I was able to work out a deal over the phone with my sales rep Jacob before driving 5 hours to their dealership....I had other trucks closer to look at and buy but Jacob worked hard to earn my business. When i arrived to get my vehicle I had the additional pleasure to work with Hunter and Logan as well who finished the deal and sent me on my way in my new / used truck. This all happened on a timely basis. Since i had driven a long way to work with the Christy dealership, Hunter kindly filled my gas tank up in my new truck before leaving the good old town of Archbold Ohio....Oh and check out the Doughbox a local bakery with great reviews.....per Mr. Hunter!

they were only supposed to flash a ecu, they messed with the door panels and ruined there clips, they stole a electric testing tool out of the car, and the car no longer was getting any power at all. Thank you for giving back a vehicle in worse condition than it was brought too you and stole a tool, on a simple ecu flash.

Would recommend highly were bought a used car from their salesman Troy. Very credible and friendly. Had a problem with the vehicle brought it in to service who also were very friendly they worked it our with me even though we bought it as is.

We worked online (We live a couple hours away in Michigan) with Travis Holland. While we didn't end up buying a vehicle from them, Travis could not have been better to work with. He
was quick to respond to any and all questions and I never felt any pressure from him at all.
