We hired Hickory Construction first to build our deck. At the time we didn't have enough money to build a covered deck but Hickory Construction designed it with a covered deck in mind as we had asked. We asked if we could lay the deck boards ourselves to save a little on labor and them were ok with that. Several years after that we had them come back to complete the project and put a roof over the deck and screen it in. Ben talked over all the options with us and presented different choices for railing and siding and worked to make the new addition look like it was always part of the house. Ben called us to let us know when his crew was going to be available to work on our project. He also kept us up to date when one of his workers got sick and was not going to be available for a couple days. He had another worker finish up some work at another project and come over to fill in. He also called us to let us know when certain deliveries were going to be dropped off if his workers were not going to be on site when it comes. Ben stopped out almost every day when the work was in full swing to check on progress and make sure we were happy with how it was going. He also made sure the site was clean and that when the gutters were off, water was kept away from the foundation during storms.
Hickory Construction is good at what they do. Ben listens well and works hard to present a plan that matches the customers vision. If some ideas are more expensive he lets you know and offers other solutions if it didn't fit in the budget. Ben seemed to have a good working relationship with the other contractors he works with and his workers are pleasant and try to stay out of the way. We are very happy with our new deck and the project came in just a little under budget.
