I just got my roof replaced by Heartland last week. It only took a day and a half. They were fast, efficient, and very friendly. They also came back after the work was done to inspect everything again. My new roof looks amazing. I will 100% work with Heartland again.

I was debating on posting our experience as I know reviews can sometimes hurt or help a company. But if you are like us needing (or are considering) new windows and you are trying to do some research I hope this helps. Our experience was not as great as I had hoped. We signed the contract on May 31st 2024. I was promised it would be done by August 10th 2024. Our project majority was finished October 2024. And officially completed April of 2025..we had 9 windows installed, gutters and downspouts replaced and our exterior window and door trim done. Every window has damage on the inside or the outside from install. The exterior window trim they first removed and then informed us that because we aren't doing siding it is going to rot out our supports and we'll have to replace everything in a couple of years. The trim was also "too complicated" so they had to use a special team which left the wood exposed for weeks in Iowa summer weather with rain until they could come back. Which compared to what we had before it doesn't look as great and has spots that could use correction. Our gutters were done quickly and for the most part are okay. We had nails and glass pieces under every window. They did not apply spray foam on the interior and some spots and not enough on other windows around the edges so there was a draft until we fixed it. We also had rain water come through one of the windows so we will have to repair that. They also left trailers here for weeks on end taking up space in my driveway. I will say they had good customer service when our project kept getting messed up, and some things were out of their control like ordering the panes when they broke. They also installed a support beam and fixed our drywall when they broke it putting the window in. Heartland contracted out their window install for us with Panes Windows out of Des Moines. I hope that maybe ours was a rare case but it still doesn't feel great to save up money to pay for new windows on your family home to feel like the job wasn't done with the care and quality you were sold on and expected.

Justin, JC, and Nash just completed work at my home. They upgraded my ventilation and also fixed the leak on my roof. They did a great job on both projects. Justin came out right after I called about a possible leak and scheduled me in to get the repair done. I am so pleased with the wonderful service and I would highly recommend Heartland to anyone!

We had extensive damage to our home during a hailstorm. We needed a new roof, gutters, and full siding. The team at Heartland made it a very seamless process.
-Juan and his team were very efficient and tidy
-Michael, the site supervisor, had excellent communication
-Hailey, in the office, even weighed in on color choices when I was having trouble making up my mind

Since then, I have used heartland two separate times for windows.
-Tommy, the window installer, did a great job both times

After our hailstorm, an insurance adjustor came to see what damage I had. I was told there was minimal damage (less than my deductible). Dave came to give me a quote for what needed to be repaired and after being on the roof he said I had substantial damage. Dave had me call my insurance company to request a second adjustor. Dave sent pictures of the damage on my behalf so the insurance would approve the 2nd adjustor. Dave made arrangements to be here when that adjustor came. It was determined that my roof needed a full replacement, plus the gutter guards & turbines. Dave went above & beyond on my behalf. A date was set for the roofers to come & Matt worked with me to change the dates twice due to rain. Matt made sure I knew when the workers would be here. When the workers were finished they excellent job with clean up.Leo came to the door & told me the job was done. Leo offered to show me what was done& shook my hand when leaving! Very professional!! I have recommended Heartland to my neighbors & friends. Thank you!!

100% satisfied with my roofing project. I was informed of everything that came up. Information was clear and given with pictures. I was given options without any pressure to choose one option or another.

After a tornado damaged my mother home, we had many storm chasers tried to take advantage of the situation. We found Heartland and Kenny was assigned as our project manager.

To say he went above and beyond is an understatement, Kenny made multiple trips out to evaluate the roof and siding damage, talked with our insurance adjuster to help us make sense of the information provided and got the repairs done that were needed in a very timely manner.

The work performed was top notch and we have not had any issues or concerns and the work was performed a year ago.

Justin Chamberlain was awesome to work with. He was extremely helpful, had great communication, and was wonderful to work with.

Heartland was wonderful. Their workers were on the ball. They did what they needed to do. They even took off our dish that other people wouldn’t remove. Everything was done in a timely manner.

After hearing unusual noises upstairs, I discovered a raccoon had tried to reside in my attic by making a hole in the roof. I panicked. I immediately called Heartland Roofers.They said they would be here in 20 minutes. Three men arrived to patch the hole until I could make some decisions. They were able to install a completely new roof days later. The workers were courteous, efficient, and had the roof finished and cleaned up the yard and debris in a short time.You would never have known they were here that day. Thank you Mike.You did a terrific job and displayed great leadership. I am very pleased.

I recently had Heartland redo the roof on my house which included removing existing shingles, resheeting the entire roof, tearing down my brick chimney to the just below the roof line, and install some whirlybirds. Nash was GREAT to work with, he was showed up on time and was very knowledgeable. He explained the problem areas on my roof very well and clear where I could understand the issues and what he was recommending to remedy it.

The crew heartland subcontracted out to work on my roof were very efficient and did a good job cleaning up the roof debris afterwards. The only issue I had with the crew is that they had pulled my patio chairs into the yard for lunch and left there there sunk into the dirt and they didn’t close the gate to my yard when they left. Not big issues but definitely didn’t leave it how they found it.

The other issue I had was getting scheduled and receiving my final invoice. After talking with Nash during the inspection/takeoff, he said someone should be calling within the week to get a 40% down payment on the job and doing so will get me scheduled. After almost two weeks of waiting I reached back to Nash to see what was going on and he said he would get back to me. After a hour Nash called me back and said that someone should be calling soon. Eventually someone did call to schedule and take my down payment and said a crew would be out the next morning to preform the work. After the work was preformed, Nash said I should receive my final invoice for the remainder of my balance in a day or two. Again, 2 weeks went by and no word. Reached back out to Nash and he said he would do some digging into the matter. Heard back and was told it would be sent out shortly. I did finally receive my final invoice and got it settled.

My overall experience with Heartland was good with a few kinks along the way. The new roof they installed looks great and we haven’t had any issues since! I can’t praise Nash enough for professionalism even after a few upset phone calls for status updates. I would use Heartland again for other projects.

Awesome company- replaced our roof 4 years ago after a widespread storm! 10/10 but where the difference comes in is 4 years later. I called and asked for a quick favor with my gutters and Noah and Justin were dispatched there the next day- rare to have service that quick…. These guys went above and beyond, even asked for my hose to clean out the gutters while in process- that’s not their job. Ben our sales rep, Noah and Justin are the reason I’ll continue to use heartland for every project on my properties moving forward!

My siding turned out exactly how I wanted it! Chase, Tanner, and the crew were all awesome to work with. I will definitely be using Heartland for any of my future project.

Great communication answering questions before and after roof install. The crew was very organized; even with a more complicated roof they still managed to do everything in a day. They were also very considerate of our plants around the house, which was an added difficulty.

The process for getting my siding replaced was great. The crews were fast, and the site was clean when they left. Would recommend them for any exterior renovations.

They were fast and did a good job. There was one mistake i noticed about a year after but their warranty process was easy and Jason did a good job getting everything fixed up. He was also very understanding and easy to work with.

We received derecho damage to the roof and the siding. Heartland has been our contractor of choice in dealing with the damage. They have proven to be responsible, honoring the warranty provided to us. They have responded promptly to our warranty issues numerous times. We will continue to contract with them as needs appear. A shout out to Justin as he has worked directly with us and has tackled the issues unwaveringly.

When I reached out to Heartland for a bid, they sent out Todd Heithoff. He was knowledgable and polite. I went with the best option. I wanted James Hardie siding. I did not have any prior knowledge of this company but saw many positive reviews. Once the bid was approved, it took quite a while for the work to begin. The job was composed of removing a large deck, replacing it with a smaller one, removing several layers of siding, soffits, fascia, gutters, adding a roof vent, adding insulation and replacing an entry door with a larger one. At no point in the process did Heartland advise me that the work would be completed by an array of contractors. The first work completed was done by two men. Although Todd indicated they would bring my insulation up to a much higher R value, the individuals who did the work assured me that they did not install that much insulation. This was a very hot day. They advised that if they blew the insulation in on that day, without proper venting, my roof would be “cooked”. Todd made a few calls and then I was assured by him that no damage would occur and that these men did not know what they were talking about. The next arose when a subcontractor named Chris removed the deck and began installing the new one. I have security cameras set up outside. Chris smoked marijuana on my property while working on the deck. This really upset me. The deck he had built was not up to code and was not installed correctly. My new deck failed inspection several times. The man put the stairs in the wrong place. I was so frustrated and unhappy with the time it was taking to do the work and the quality of the subcontractors they were selecting that I wrote an email to the owner Adam. Adam did not even acknowledge my email, nor did he call to discuss my concerns. At this point Todd and I were no longer in contact. Another employee named Chase took over the job. Chase found another contractor to do the deck. When our custom door arrived, it was larger than my existing door. Todd ordered the wrong size. I was thankful that they were willing to install the larger door. When it was time to do the siding, I was told by Heartland that they would only be removing the first layer of siding. However, after the Spanish speaking siding crew began work, they let me know that more than one layer would have to be removed via Google translate. The additional layers were removed. I was told the house would be wrapped in Tyvek. They did not use Tyvek; they purchased a cheaper house wrap. The men damaged the window wrap around several of my windows that were installed a year prior. They pounded silver nails into the white wrap. This project began in September and was not finished until the last week in March. The finished product of my renovation is satisfactory. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it was done to my standards. However, the siding looks great and overall the end result has improved the look of my home. I am so thankful the work is done. If you are considering using Heartland for a project, I would recommend that you get all the details in advance and be weary of the types of subcontractors they select. I’d also be prepared to wait quite a bit of time if you have several things to be done. I’d already made six payments on my renovation loan by the time the work was completed. I’d also recommend that Heartland improves their communication and clarity on who is going to complete the job and what the process looks like. Todd Heithoff the project manager for my work absolutely refused to provide me with a timeline even though I made multiple requests in writing that he do so. I’ve never known a project manager to be unwilling to provide a timeline. He’s a nice guy, but certainly not great with this role. Things improved some when Chase became involved. All in all, I spent nearly $35k on my renovation. That’s a pretty big job in my opinion, and one that should have gone much smoother than it did.

We had a complete roof tear off and replacement along with full gutter removal and replacement. The roof team showed up on time and completed a large job in one full day. Very impressive. Great attention to detail and the new roof looks fabulous. They installed new vents that should also benefit the new roof for many years to come.

The gutter team showed up the following day as scheduled and was in and out in under three hours. Again, extremely happy with the installation, craftsmanship and their attention to detail.

The only reason this wasn't a five star rating was due to the amount of nails and screws me and my wife picked up after each crew had left. Yes, the roof crew went around with their magnet broom, but obviously not well. When I walked around the house I could visibly see nails so I began taking a small magnet on a stick and proceeded to pick up no less than 1 1/2 lbs of nails and staples.

Then again after the gutter team left I was walking around the house and noticed screws on the ground. Once again I grabbed my magnet and proceeded to pick up another 3/4 lb of nails and screws. My assumption as to why there were nails again on the ground is that they had to have been in the gutters and when they were removed from the house they fell to the ground.

You shouldn't have to spend 2 plus hours picking up nails, screws and staples after this type of project. It just leaves a sour taste on what is a great looking finished project.

Heartland replaced my roof in 2020 and did a great job. After some bad weather I had a leak. They responded quickly and fixed it without any hassle. Justin came out and did a great job. He was friendly, great communication and got to work on repairing my roof quickly. I recommend Heartland to anyone who is looking for good value with a new roof!

I had Heartland replace 7 windows and a patio door in my house. After talking to Todd on the phone, I went to the showroom in Ankeny, and he showed me the different options for styles. Then Todd came to the house and measured every window that would be replaced. I like in an HOA, so Todd prepared a detailed report of what the final product would look like. Chase came and took a piece of the woodwork so the stain on the new ones would match it. When the windows came in and were stained, the crew came and installed them. They were thorough and careful with details, and they hauled away all the old windows. One new window had a hairline crack in it, so they ordered another one, and when it came in, they came and replaced the one with the crack. The windows are beautiful and energy efficient, and I have really enjoyed how cozy my home is, now that they are in place. I can't say enough good about Heartland and their work!

With some siding damage after the most recent blizzard, Jake with Heartland was a huge help. He came over and fixed the issue within a week which is really unheard of from my standpoint. Thanks for the amazing work!

My husband and I had reached out to get some work done as we were having water filtration behind the siding. We ended up getting windows, siding and gutters done. Everyone was great to work with and they were available to answer questions as they raised during the process. Worked with Heartland (Justin) on a very quick repair need from some wind damage. With more weather expected in less than 36 hours, Justin had our fix evaluated, quoted, and repaired in less than 24 hours. He was responsive, timely and completed quality work. Our project was a combination restoration and insurance project. We had three other companies suggested too us prior to Heartland but the job was either too big or the sales people stopped returning our calls.

But not Heartland, and specifically Chase.

We had a few bumps along the road, but Chase and Heartland made sure everything was right in the end.

The work that I've had completed on my home consisted of being completely resided, new roof, new gutters, and new windows. The work was coordinated and completed in various stages. During each stage I was well informed and expectations were set and met. The Heartland team did a great job of communicating with me and setting my mind at ease knowing that though work was going to be completed without issue. And the work was completed without issue. I had complete peace of mind throughout the whole experience.
The people that I personally worked with were Kenny, Chase, and Tanner. All of which were exceptional people, and represented their company extremely well. They were eager to help in any way they could. They gave me peace of mind through the whole process and for that I'm extremely grateful.
I am relatively new to the Ames area and I am a bit apprehensive when it comes to finding people/companies to do work for me. I can say without question, based on my experience, Heartland is a great company to work with, and has my highest recommendation.

Due to the recent windstorms in Ames, a small piece of siding detached from the back of my house. I promptly contacted Kenny, who assured me that he would address the issue. A few days later, I received a phone call from Kyle. Approximately 15 minutes after the call, he arrived at my residence and completed the repair. Kyle demonstrated exceptional friendliness and professionalism throughout the process. He provided a detailed explanation of the circumstances leading to the damage and the steps he took to rectify it. As with all previous interactions with Heartland Construction, Kyle exemplified the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. His workmanship was meticulous, and he took great pride in ensuring that the repair was completed to the highest standards. Heartland Construction consistently delivers exceptional results and prioritizes the well-being of its customers.

Heartland’s exceptional service has left an indelible impression on me. Recently, I underwent two sets of bedroom window replacement, and their work was consistent with my previous experience with them.. Every interaction with Heartland has been a pleasure, and over the past three years residing in Ames, they have consistently earned the moniker of “IOWA nice.” From the initial consultation to the final completion, the process was seamless and hassle-free. Everything transpired as planned, and I am thoroughly satisfied with the outcomes. Heartland’s unwavering commitment to excellence has solidified their place as my highest recommendation.

Great experience. Very happy with the results. Picked Heartland because of the 3 companies that we had come out for quotes their sales person, Todd, was the only one that actually got up into our attic, took pictures and identified several areas of apparent water damage that needed to be addressed. One other company never even looked in our attic and one just popped his head up into the attic identifying only one area of concern.

Just used them again to do some insulation in our attic. Again, very professional and quick. Like that they take pictures to show me what they did.
