Like some others have said, the cost wasn't the lowest of the quotes I obtained but I can honestly say that they are scrupulously honest. The work they did is very high quality. At every step of the process, they communicated! When I had concerns, they immediately took action to discuss with me and correct if needed. What an absolute joy it was to find a completely honest and straightforward company. Highly recommended.

HD just wrapped up our deck project. We are loving all the time we’ve been spending outside!! Having gone through a few large renovation projects, I can say this was the most smooth experience. I’m a perfectionist to the extreme and I’m very happy with the team’s workmanship and attention to detail. As with any project, we ran into some minor hiccups and also asked for adjustments. HD listened when we had concerns and corrected anything that wasn’t perfect immediately upon receiving feedback. Communication was always excellent. We asked for a few adjustments to the project scope as we watched the project develop and the team met those change requests with speed and flexibility. I especially appreciated being able to discuss items via text and phone directly with the project manager and make decisions with the on-site team as things popped up. We will definitely be hiring HD again and I highly recommend them!

HD Exteriors has done a fabulous job on my projects, replacing our 40' by 20' wood deck with composite and replacing two large fence/gate/pergola sections near the deck. It was an excellent experience from day one with Kevin on the estimate, Tom's senior management, the truly professional carpentry crew led by Lester, and Tasha, Kim and the office team were always responsive, friendly and effective. The entire project took only 30 days from meeting Kevin the first time, to clean-up and final work approval with Chris. I would recommend this company and team to anyone looking for excellence, expertise and an outstanding experience with their project!

HD Exteriors did a remarkable job on my new front porch! Their quality standards are very high - I think even if the house fell down the porch would survive unscathed. Their workmanship is beautiful, and they were very communicative at every step of the project. Other than one glitch caused by a delay from a vendor, they were surprisingly fast, without cutting any corners. I would love to use them again.

HD was one of three companies that I received a quote for my project and must say they were not the "cheapest". However.... I truly believe you-get-what-you-pay-for. Arrived right on time at the beginning, walked us through the work, easy-to-use/easy-to-navigate digital portal to track progress, regular project text message updates. I called to set an appointment to discuss flagstone patio and outdoor fireplace and they wouldn’t schedule it unless all persons on the deed agreed to be present at the appointment. When I explained that my brothers and I inherited the home, that i reside in the home with my children and that and I was responsible for capital improvement and maintenance decisions, they nonetheless said call back when all recorded owners could be present. I again explained that I was responsible for all home improvement contracts for all of the ongoing renovations to the home, they didn’t care. So, I called a competitor, The Hardscape Store, who gladly discussed my project and scheduled an appointment.

We had a couple of stutter steps getting started with our project, but everyone at HD Exteriors was very responsive and professional. We never had any issues with reaching customers service and our concerns were addressed right away…and to our satisfaction. The end result is beautiful Trex decking and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to go with HD Exteriors.

We will used HD Exteriors again, should the need arise.

HD exterior was with us all the way through the deck planning and building process, to include HOA approval, materials, delivery, and completion. We have had a lot of work done over the years and this is easily the most transparent and efficient contracting process we’ve ever experienced. They may not be the cheapest, but it is more than worth the premium to get the job done right and have them take care of all the approvals and permits - and they have the best warranty we’ve seen.

HD was professional, transparent, and accommodating. We had a new fence and patio pavers installed. HD made a reasonable price match when we provided previous quotes for similar work. The installation crew and manager were on time, diligent, and flexible. Corrections were made regarding a gate latch promptly and without issues. There were some precision/quality areas we decided not to address, as they did not take away from the overall quality of the end product. We would recommend HD Exteriors to family and friends.

Loving our new deck is an understatement! HD responded timely to our interest request , gave us several options with competitive pricing. Took care of permitting and prep work. Started within a week of all documents being obtained. On-site crew was so efficient, kind and left a clean worksite! They finished in one week. HD Exteriors took down my old deck and gave me a beautiful deck where I spend hours everyday since it’s completion! We had a few delays due to the rainy weather but HD worked even on a weekend day or two to catch up. The quality of their workmanship is commendable. The crew boss was always on time, efficient, cleaned up at the end of every day, and was so polite and friendly. My deck is so beautiful; I’m enjoying it everyday. We decided to go with HD Exteriors even though their estimate was higher than another company. We took a chance on them because they seemed very well organized, had a better warranty and better overall sales presentation. Graham Jr. was easy to communicate with and also suggested other ideas which we had not thought about—such as a different orientation for the stairs, and bringing the deck height even with our patio door.
Special thanks to the team of Nelson, Pedro and their crew. They worked hard building the deck, digging those post holes in our hard clay soil, and answering our questions. They were very professional. Eric, who was project coordinator in the office, also answered our questions by phone and text. Additionally, the admin people were very friendly and responsive. Christian checked in at the beginning of the deck framing and later towards the end—also friendly and responsive to our questions. We were very pleased with the staff!
Our deck was a simple 12x14 deck and we are extremely pleased with the outcome after years of looking at an aged ugly wood deck. We went with the Dekorator brand of decking and Trex railing. There were no issues with final inspection.

I called to get an estimate for my deck. My home is a new construction that can’t get access until is completed but I get a rude lady on the phone letting me know nothing can be share or quotes can be provided. This is insane ! How I suppose to take decisions if I’m going with the builder estimate or not !
Decided to move forward with another contractor. This kind of interactions only left a bad taste!

We are very pleased with our deck!! The HD Exteriors crew were very nice and respectfully whole time and did an amazing job building the deck. They built it in less than two weeks with rain almost everyday, (Beast Mode!). Can’t wait to do another exterior project with their services again. 100% one of the best experiences we have ever had with a company. Only thing that would have been nice is to have the staining done but we understand that they don’t provide that service and they are upfront about that so no worries. This company needs to lighten up. My neighbor and I want a stone patio. I scheduled an appointment so that my neighbor and I can get a quote for both patios. Instead, I get a rude lady who told me that my neighbor had to call for a separate schedule to get a quote. Why? why? why? They are next door to me and what does it hurt to look at both at the same time? I am working on behalf of my neighbor to help them out. This was poorly handled and I will now seek another contractor. As a contractor myself, I would never treat potential customers like that. I would suggest looking elsewhere to contractors that will work with you instead of rudely pushing their own needs.

HD Exteriors did a great job on my deck replacement project, from the planning and design to the finished deck. I signed the contract in early December, and they took care of all the permits and HOA approvals. As soon as the weather turned warmer in March they started the demolition and continued working every day until the project was completed. In several areas they did more than the contract or code required such as adding weather protection to posts and the tops of beams. We’re very happy with how the new deck looks.

HD Exteriors replaced our deck (165 sq feet) with composite materials and replaced the entire backyard with a brushed concrete patio for our town house in Lake Ridge, VA. They did an absolutely amazing job; we could not be happier with the result!

Our Home Owners Assoc can be difficult to work with, but HD Exteriors submission was so thorough and so professionally done that the process was actually a pleasure. I can't state this part enough, the package had detailed architectural drawings, land plat, permits, material descriptions, color palettes and pictures.

The guys who actually did the "hands on" work not only knew what they were doing, but they did it with pride. As one worker said, "your fence isn't straight but your new patio is". We also discussed options like "would you like to add a step here" and that made a huge difference. I feel like there were no shortcuts and nothing sacrificed in order to get done and get out. In fact, that started early and worked late most every day.

Last thing I wanted to mention was the office. I always knew what was going on every step of the way. Most questions were handled with a quick text message, and I loved that. They also have a customer web portal and use electronic signatures, which made reviewing documents convenient.

I highly recommend HD Exteriors. They made the process painless, the price was fair, and the net result was exceptional. My expectations were blown away.

Hired them to remove my old wood deck and replace with composite hybrid. Also had them replace some siding and trim. They did a great job and texted me constantly to give me updates. No complaints. Would recommend.

These guys are fantastic. They previously installed three windows for me and are a perfect example of professionals. They make sure their work is performed to professional standards. I asked them to come back and repair my siding. They went and exceeded all my expectations by performing spectacular work. I am very happy. In my experience, it is unusual to have such conscientious workers.

The team worked efficiently and did not rush. They delivered a quality deck and ensured it met expectations. The delivery around the holidays added some additional delays to the project as it includes scheduling different crews for a couple of different linked projects. Very happy with the quality of the deck, the project handling, and how they worked with the HOA. We have what we were looking for, with little effort on our part, and didn't need to hover.
They went above and beyond to address any concerns and we will look to them again for exterior projects.

HD Exteriors resurfaced my 20 x 14 deck with Timbertech composite wood. Graham Perry made very helpful suggestions regarding “picture framing” the deck surface and adding a “picture framed” privacy panel on one side. The carpenters did a good job building a sturdy deck and removed all trash. It took a little longer than the original 3-day estimate but the final product is a very nice and well built composite deck! The support from their office staff was also excellent.

Before reading this review, please know that my expectations for any work done at our property will always be very strict and inflexible. Coming from a US Marine and LEO, can’t expect anything less, but our experience with HD was very pleasant and satisfying. I will always recommend this family business. I only wish I had known about their professionalism and quality of work before I had another company doing the siding prior to their work. HD Exteriors stayed on top of everything from the very beginning of the project until I gave my final and personal revision. We invested in our deck, and it is now a great appeal to our property. Besides adding more value to it, our neighbors love seeing it, but these satisfying results only came because of the dedication of all the HD staff involved: the electrician, the foreman, the inspector, the builder and his crew, the administrative people, etc., even the County Inspector was marveled to the completed work. HD Exteriors will not rest until HD gets the final satisfaction of its customers. Please don’t cheat yourselves; there are so many contractors (like wolves) who will promise you the same results at a cheaper price. I promise you will not go wrong with HD, and you will not get stressed by the unexpected issues any project may bring (HOA, County, workers, neighbors, etc.) they will take care of everything for you.

I purchased my home in July 2023 and needed the original deck immediately replaced. It was top priority for the work I needed done on my forever home. I shopped around to several contractors and let the bids come in. For the quality of work and what I was looking for material-wise HD Exteriors came out on top! They openly communicated plans and reached prices points I was looking for.

I was told the longest part of the process was the HOA approvals and permits and they were right, because once that was in hand, my deck was basically complete in about a week. They worked quickly and efficiently. My new deck is absolutely beautiful. I can’t begin to describe my over the top happiness with what they’ve achieved.

HD recently completed a deck demolition and replacement for us, and they hit it out of the park. Every facet of the experience, from communications (especially with our project manager, Jai Sawyack...congratulations on the birth of your baby), to design and selection of materials (with Dustin Spencer...we went with DecKorators and Trex), to pulling permits, to delivery of materials, to demolition of our old wooden deck and removal of refuse, to installation and inspection of footers to building of the new deck, to final inspection and walk-through (with Tom), was seamless and worry free. Our crew, headed by Lester, and his team of Elio, Juan, Jose, and others whose names I cannot remember, were polite, efficient, responsive to questions and requests, flexible in accommodating some last minute changes, were highly skilled, extremely hard-working, and cleaned up the site of tools and materials each day at the close of work. It was a pleasure having these professionals at our house each day during the duration of the project. This was a great experience, we are very happy with the outcome, both appearance and quality, and look forward to enjoying it for years to come. Highly recommend HD exteriors. From start to finish, the team was exceptional. Jeremiah was great in our planning sessions and, honestly, was a big part of why we went with HD exteriors. Knowledgeable, polite and informative. He wasn't pushy at all which took the pressure off--in fact I went almost a year from first contact to signing our contract and we picked up right where we started. I did compare prices with several others and there price was reasonable compared to everyone else, certainly no the most expensive. The site and installation team were equally good--always on time, were here when they said they would be and cleaned up at the end of each day and when they were finished with the projecdt. The deck looks fantastic and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

I am so excited to have a usable outdoor space to entertain, lounge, and let my pup sit out in. The quality for the price, professionalism, and overall care of our patio is unbeatable. I will be recommending these guys to anyone who ever needs their patio done.

It's been a year and a half since HD Exteriors built our covered deck/patio combination and we couldn't be happier. Everything about the build, including the hip roof with two down spouts for rain, has been holding up exactly as we hoped. We love grilling and are cooking on the paver stone patio one to days every week from Spring through Fall. The work they did was finished exactly as quoted cost-wise and completed a full week ahead of schedule.

HDE was quick in getting our permits and building our deck. Rueben and his crew did meticulous work and were always on time. Can not say enough about Edwin's crew in following up on the finishing touches (filling in concrete holes, replacing patio pavers, siding gaps, and gutter work). Would recommend considering HDE for decking.

HD took care of everything. They made sure they were in full compliance with our HOA compact and dealt with the HOA management company to expedite things. Once work was started, they finished in half the time they said it would take to build our patio. Neighbors passing by constantly comment that they love our new patio. We are so happy with the work of HD Exteriors!

I had a deck dealt with a privacy fence made of vinyl. Everyone I dealt with was very professional. I had a supervisor who saw the project from beginning to finish. There were areas of my new privacy fence that were damaged and needed to be replaced and HD willingly replaced those areas in a timely manner. They also reseeded my lawn where they had dug it up. Although they are expensive I would still recommend them

Tony and his crew did an excellent job on a front door installation at our property in Vienna! We would certainly recommend HD Exteriors to anyone looking for a quality construction company.

Our new bluestone patio is gorgeous—the pictures don’t do it justice. Not only is it perfectly installed, but it was designed to exactly fit the space and compliment the style of our 110 year old Queen Anne house. From the guy who did the estimate, to the office staff, to the project manager, to the carpentry crew to the stone masons, every person on the HD team was super—skilled and professional. Also, everything happened on time and on schedule. I would definitely hire them again.

From start to finish, our patio project with HD Exteriors couldn't have gotten more smoothly. We first spoke with Austin and he helped tailor our project to meet a target price that worked for our budget. We had other companies come by, spend about 10 minutes taking measurements and giving us a quote but the way in which Austin took his time to explain the in's and out's and came to an agreement made all of the difference. We were consistently informed via auto-generated messages as well as direct emails about the project status. We got to meet with the project managers and went over the work being conducted. The installation crew showed up on time and knocked out the entire project in just under 2 days. Even after the project was completed, the folks at HD Exteriors were quick to answer follow-up questions we had about maintenance and other general inquiries. Highly recommend the work performed by HD Exteriors, it's nice to know there are still good folks out there that stand by their word.

We just had a new deck installed by HD Exteriors. The entire process was superior and we loved our new deck. The salesperson, Jeremiah, was very knowledgeable and professional. He showed us the samples and deck design so we could decide. The design team did all the submittals to HOA and county for the permit. The work started within a month after we sign the contract and finished within a week. The installation crew did a good job despite some delivery problems. Overall I would give this company an excellent rating and would recommend to anyone.

The Silver Travertine material turned out beautifully on our patio expansion. Great looking patio with a lot more usable space. The installation crew was excellent, doing a great job on the basic patio & responding to several small customization requests.
Follow up requests were responded to immediately by Graham Jr and Sr.

We hired HD Exteriors to build a screened porch on our small brick rambler. We met with Corey from the design team initially. Out of all the quotes we received, we appreciated Corey's clear vision and design option. Mike was our foreman. He was responsive to our questions and concerns. The office staff and other crew members - electrician, roofers, etc. - were also good, professional, and on time. But the best out of all were our two assigned workers - Jose & Oscar - who basically removed and built the porch from the ground up. They came in the cold, wind, and rain and worked tirelessly on the job. We were amazed at how efficient they were. The porch itself is more beautiful than we expected. Hire this company; they do know what they are doing. The county inspector even commented more than once that they do high quality work.

Just like other reviewers, we will definitely be writing another review or updating this one after the work on the patio starts and is completed, which is over a month from now. In the meantime, it is important to give credit to and commend HD personnel that are not part of the building crew. Dustin, a Design Consultant, came to our house for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and spent 3 hours with us. He was on time, knowledgeable, respectful, and extremely patient; he answered all our questions and concerns and gave us the impression that he is not just out to make a deal for his employer, but actually cares about the company. My husband and I have had many projects done with contractors but we have never agreed to any proposal "on the spot" and without "sleeping on it". Dustin's attitude, clear, and honest opinion, as well as his dedication, made this a first for us! Dustin is an asset to the company and we hope that his work ethic is a reflection of HD Exteriors and that our update on the patio is as positive as our experience with him and this review.

From start to finish, working with HD Exteriors was a great experience. Especially the coordination and paperwork required for Reston HOA and Fairfax county review & approval.

Patio pavers: We were gratified with the professional, high quality job HD carried out in paving our backyard patio and creating a solid walkway to our front door and stoop.
