Just wanted to say weather has been horrible and cold as hell and the boys outside on a Sunday took right care of our business, quickly and efficiently with a smile and a great conversation, thank you hamshaw lumber for the great service as always.

Not only did they have the right lumber in stock, but they made the few cuts required for my project (4 total) precisely enough, so I didn't have to drag my chop saw out when I got home. Overall, very good quality products and good service from the staff.

Hampshire lumber is the best place to shop for craftwood. If you have an odd job you need to get done at home or repair or you're a crafter and making a shelf Hamshaw lumber has a huge selection of different pieces all sizes all different wood. The employees are amazing especially if you're unsure they have great ideas tips. Hampshire is not a huge store but they have stood the test of time when the big stores moved in which is in a testament to the value you will find inside and the quality of employees along with products. My favorite product at Hamshaw lumber is their line of Carhartt clothing. I would rather Shop at Hamshaw lumber vs a huge outdoor store. Where it's usually very difficult to get any assistance & there's more items than you're in for. If you want to grab some carhartt clothing, without being up sold, plus get in & out this is your store and the prices are a great value. If you're new to doing any type of wood project this is also your store The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. I can list so many reasons, No matter what the project is as to why your first stop should be this store.

Our builder order a custom door frame to replace ours as it had rotted from moisture. The order had to be placed three times due to incorrect measurement. We never did get the frame we ordered and paid for as the third frame was also not accurate to the measurements of our doors hinges. Due to not have access to our front door for over a month the builder had to modify the frame to work so he could complete the job.

The Keene Hamshaw Lumber is my go-to hardware store. The staff in each department are knowledgeable and friendly. I appreciate the cleanliness of the store and how it is laid out and organized. I'm always in and out when I need something. I can find what i need here 95% of the time. While they are a tad pricey, I would rather support a small business vs. a big box store. If you sign up to be a rewards member (it's free, it takes 2 seconds), I believe they more than make up that difference with the significant coupons they send you. Plus, their lumber is always better quality than HD... this place is always my 1st choice.

The lumber desk is very direct and helpful, and the store is laid out well.
It takes a minute to figure out the yard procedure, but that's true for every lumberyard, and the people out back are very helpful.

People working there are great. I had a honda pilot keyless fob programmed there it works fine and has working remote start. This place is a fantastic source for copying electronic keys. Which they have a selection right there and may be able to order them I'm not sure as I had brought my own.

I have to say I am so disappointed in this business. My husband and I went to the design center in Keene with a kitchen design for an addition 6 weeks ago. All I wanted was an estimate on cabinets for the design and measurements I provided, and an estimate for the Wetwalls for the bathroom. Laurie told me it would be two weeks before she could get me a price. At the four week mark I went back to the store just to get the price on the Wetwalls and she seemed very put out to get a book out of the cabinet and write some numbers on the back of a business card. It has been six weeks and I have not heard a word from her. I am buying my cabinets and Wetwall product from Triumph Interiors in Rindge, they have been wonderful in getting me prices and very helpful answering my questions!

Do not special order with them. We ordered 20+ Anderson windows for our entire new build home. They are so disorganized. Our windows were back ordered a couple of times, but they never let us know that until we called because the windows were supposed to be in. This cycled over a few times. I had to continue calling, because they wouldn’t let us know when they arrived. They never knew what had arrived in the yard and what they were still waiting on.
On top of that, they never did give us all the screens that they owed us. I have all but given up on getting the 6 remaining screens.

Checking your card statement because you don’t want to be like me …I’d placed an order for curbside pick up and totally forgot to pick it up… time past and check my card today and saw a charge, logged in my ace account and said I picked up the item. Shame on you Ace Hardware!

I was working in the area, and have seen their logo, on racecars at many tracks, and have always planned to stop, and support a supporter of the sport. Do yourself a favor, and stop here, for all your hardware/building supply needs. Their "old school" type of personal service, and quality products, is what makes it so great. I will go back there, any time I'm working in the area.

Clean place with helpful staff. I had a little trouble finding what I was looking for and within a few minutes (Not too quickly, not too late - perfect timing!) someone asked if I needed help finding something, and directed me right to it.

Hamshaw’s… they are straight up liars!
In August of 2022 went to Hamshaw lumber to purchase a Serenity pellet stove. While I was there selecting the stove the person helping me was very helpful. He showed 2 pellet stoves in boxes. They were outside under an open bay. They had a lot of dust and dirt covering the top of the boxes. I told the salesman I will take one of those. I went inside and purchased the stove and 1 ton of pellets. They told me it would be approximately a week for delivery.
On the day of delivery, the truck arrived had an unboxed stove strapped down. I told the driver I will not accept the stove. I told him I purchased a stove still in the box. I was told to speak with the dispatch at Hamshaw’s to straighten it out. Well,… she was very rude when I tried to explain what was going on. She never once let me finish what I was trying to say to her. I was not very happy at this point because they told me they sold the 2 stoves they had in stock and only had a floor model available, and a another one in a box was scheduled to be deliver on that same day and they would send me the “new boxed stove fresh off the truck once it comes in”, or the story goes... This is where the lies begin.
After finally speaking with someone who was nice to me, a manager at Hamshaw’s? They explained that I would have the new stove delivered the same day. It didn’t take long for the driver to return with a boxed stove strapped down on the truck. The driver was very nice to me and unloaded the stove and 1 ton of pellets in my driveway. When I saw the boxed stove fresh off the delivery truck, I noticed something odd about the “new fresh off the truck pellet stove” I had a layer of dust and dirt on the top exactly like the ones I saw the day I purchased. I was lied to by everyone there I spoke to. I believe they were too lazy to dig the pellet stove that was mired deep in the storage bay and send it to me. Any new from the factory stove would not have a layer of dirt and debris on it.

Can't say enough good things about this place. They carry a great selection from building materials to outdoor and gardening supplies.

Staff are helpful and knowledgeable, prices are better than the big box retailers on most items, some things by a lot. Overall it seems to be run more efficiently than similar stores.

I have a contractor doing work on my house and after I ordered building materials from Hamshaw he was very impressed with pricing, availability and delivery times. He's now sold on them as well.

Spent awhile being helped by Robin in the Kitchen and Bath building. So nice to have the aid of someone with actual knowledge of the business! Shop local at Hamshaws.

Fair pricing and excellent delivery service! Beneficial to have them in our region. Similar companies over in Manchester Nashua and Concord don't treat the needs of the Monadnock region customers as well.

I own a local carpentry business and they've always taken great care of me. The prices and quality can't be beat.

The quality of lumber is far superior at Hamshaw, for a lower price I also noticed. I included a picture that barely does justice on the difference of quality. On the right is mass produced “Irving” lumber from “Big Box” on the left is Hamshaw’s lumber from local mills.

Laurie is so much fun to work with for kitchen design! Bring your measurements to her last, you’ll be glad you did. You might need to make an appointment so call ahead.

Overall, if you’re looking to make your home project into an investment of your property, get serious and shop Hamshaw lumber

This must be the most customer-friendly supply business in the Monadnock region. I needed a specially-cut piece of Plexiglas and was told by every place from Belletetes in Jaffrey and Peterborough to Home Depot and the other big box stores in Keene that it was impossible. But Mike at Hamshaw Lumber simply said with a smile "we can do that," and within minutes I was happily on my way.

If you get lucky, you'll get to work with someone friendly here. Seems like the longer someone has worked here, the more likely they are to be rude and condescending when you ask questions. I understand that folks might have a bad day here and there, but I've spoken to several contractors that hate shopping here because everyone is so rude to them. That's a big problem. Everyone deserves VIP treatment, but especially contractors.

I go here because they have what I need.
Most of the time I feel like the tools they sell are higher quality than the big store.

Hamshaw lumber always has what you need. The very rare occasions when they do not have what you need, they will order it for you. Hamshaw lumber has a great knife sharpening machine that is quite affordable. You can get keys made there as well. They also have a great rental service for all kinds of things. They rent tables, they rent chairs, they rent bounce houses, and many more items. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Stay away from HD and stick with Hamshaw Lumber.
