When the tenants told me there's a slow leak possibly from the chimney and the handyman I always hire said I should find a roofer for this job, I found a contractor who came and told me the leak was due to bad flashing, and he'd need to replace the flashing, remove the shingles around the chimney, caulk the area, and paint the sidings on the chimney. The quote he gave me was $1,650.

Having a second thought, I contacted Hail Naw Roofing, and got a response right away from James Triplet. After listening to my situation, he stopped by within 10 minutes to look at the site. After his inspection, he said he didn't think the contractor I talked to earlier was being very honest with me, because the leak was gradual, and that water shouldn't have leaked through the bottom of the chimney since the flashing looked fine. He suspected the leak is due to the gap between the sidings and the border piece of the chimney, and all the work that need to be done is to caulk all the gaps. He also pointed out that a lot of roofers like to over kill for small things to make more money out of a simple job. I really appreciate his honesty in his work, thanks to him I didn't have to pay $1,650 for a job that can be done with some caulk. He sealed all the gaps around the chimney, and glued a piece of lose shingle back, and only charged me for a basic service call, which is $350.

I would definitely use this company again, and I am so glad that James can be so honest with the situation and just do what is needed to be done rather than taking advantage of my situation.

James Tripplet is the owner of Hail Naw Roofing. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the roofing business. Just as important is his knowledge the in insurance business. For an example: the insurance company did not want to pay more than $6,440 for my damages. Mr Tripplet was able to negotiate the settlement amount up to $17,000 plus. I see all these positive reviews about James Tripplet. And I wonder why James/Tom Major decided to take advantage of me. But again, I'm a single mom of 3 kids who shared with James/Tom that my husband recently abandon me and my kids. My intension was not to get my roof done at the time. But Tom knocked on my door and that's where it begun. I told him I was currently renting where I resided, but I have an investment property that we could discuss. We went through the process, and as I informed both James and Tom, if the insurance doesn't cover it, I do not want to start the process because I don't have any extra money to provide. I shared I had just put a down payment down on a home for me and my 3 kids. They assured me the insurance would cover it.

Here's my story.... To make a long story short.
Before starting the roof installation, I asked for an invoice/service estimate. James, indicated I would need to provide him the adjuster's summary before he could provide me an invoice. At this moment I decided to go seek another roofing company because my thought process said this doesn't sound right. But my heart went back to Tom, and I wanted to help him dearly. Because he shared some of his own personal matters with me as well. So, I emailed the adjuster's report, which showed the entire pricing and what items needed to be repaired.

Once it was time to start the project, I gave Tom a check for $9,653.20, the full amount the insurance adjuster allocated for the roof repairs. Because time was a constraint, and it was going to take some time for James to round up a crew for the interior. Time was clicking and I was losing money without a tenant residing in the unit. I contacted Tom/James told them I need to move forward, and I have contractors to repair the interior. They agreed it was okay. We all agreed.

At the completion of the roof, I asked for a final invoice. But I got pushed back from James. He stated he needed to contact the insurance adjuster on miscalculations. Now, I'm like what's going on. Here's a dateline, I received the insurance check in April 2021, I paid James/Tom May 2021, roof completed in May 2021, I received my first invoice at the end of August 2021 for $7,534.97 on top of the $9,653.20. A total of $17,188.17. I immediately contacted James; he said the insurance adjuster said another check will be sent to cover it. We received the check in the amount of $675.00. Now, I'm furious!!!

So, after speaking to James, he became transparent. He was rude, disrespectful and very obnoxious. And told me that's what I owed him, and it need to be paid. He mentioned the amount of funds I received from the insurance company, and this was his portion to be paid by me. Yes, the amount he mentioned I received from the insurance company was correct, but he didn't repair the interior. He was requesting that portion and more. He immediately sent a revised invoice adding a 10% late fee of $753.50 and a lien fee of $300.00.

So, after speaking to James on September 7, 2021, Labor Day, he continued to send me harassing emails and text messages. As I explained, I will seek legal advice. The next day, he continued to harass me by email and text, so therefore, I blocked all forms of communications. Currently, I am seeking an attorney to handle my matters.

PLEASE SEEK YOUR ROOFING SERVICE WITH ANOTHER ROOFING COMPANY. I did some research (BBB) and there are similar complaints out there. He's trying to scam the insurance companies for additional funds and when he can't get the funds, he'll come after you. He's a scammer!!!!!

Btw, putting my mother's personally information online is so unprofessional. Your vindictive and deceptive nature clearly shows the stature of your character. Hail Naw replaced our roof in 2018 and we couldn’t be happier. James worked with our insurance company and took care of everything for us. Since having our roof replaced, we had some squirrel activity and James came right out to look at it and replaced a piece of a pipe that had been damaged. I would not hesitate to use Hail Naw again. I called Hail-Naw after seeing positive reviews on Google. James answered our call and came out for an inspection within a day! James was very thorough in explaining the different options that we had with repairing or replacing our roof. For the time being, we opted for a repair. James provided me with “before” photos of the problem areas and discussed how he planned to fix those areas. Frustrated and daunted by the process, we searched online for a reputable roofer and based on previous reviews of Hail Naw, we felt hopeful. I had a leak at a rental property that I was preparing to sell. James was highly recommended by my primary residence HOA. He went to the property quickly and stopped the leak/further damage and discovered my roof had a recall and my insurance would cover a brand new roof, which was fixed right away. He worked hand in hand with my adjuster and made sure I got the full coverage for my roof.
Additionally, I also needed other various repairs: replace wood floor damaged from leak (since the wood was hard to match, he was able to get my insurance to cover a full wood floor replacement throughout), I need painting (inside & out), wood trim repair, a toilet fixed, and even professional cleaning services so I could prepare the home to be sold. He gave me great pricing on all those services, worked quickly, and best of all, he handled everything. He was the complete Project Manager on everything. He saved me so much time and headache trying to coordinate all that myself on a property I couldn't make it out to very often. I can't say enough about how much easier he made all the repairs for me.
