Called a number of listed contractors in the Newport area and Mike Hagen was the only contractor to respond. (Star #1) The roof in our sunroom had been showing signs of dry root and was starting to leak. Mike checked out what we had and suggested a new sunroom roof. We then asked him to replace the entire roof, which was also in need of repair. Mike gave us a fixed price bid based on the agreed upon work. (Star #2)

It wasn't long before Mike discovered several areas where "dry root" was a very big issue. My wife stayed close by to observe Mike and his workers during the sunroof and roofing part of the project. she kept me informed and as she became more and more impressed with both Mike and his workers, my confidence and trust keep improving. In the roofing process our outside stairs collapsed, then the support anchors for the deck and deck supports came close to giving out, and then the west facing bedroom wall almost collapsing from dry root, Mike would contact us, discuss the problem while sending us pictures. Mike never moved ahead without contacting us, discussing the possible fixes, time required and rough estimate. (Star #4) After the initial bid, we agreed to move ahead on a "time and material" basis as the amount of dry root was unknown. He and my wife would work on the schedule (house is a VRBO) so working around the renters along with Mike's other commitments was challenging but thru perseverance the fixes were accomplished and we couldn't be happier!
