BEWARE! have had my chimney cleaned annually for over 25 years. I burn wood nightly.
Today, 2 ‘technicians’ arrived in an unmarked van, no ID, looked at my fireplace.. then tried to convince me that my chimney needed a “deep clean” ( vs. a surface clean) for $650!!! Since I have never heard of this scam, I chose the surface clean, for $150. Before starting, the technician asked how I would pay, check or credit card. He then proceeded to brush the bottom portion of the chimney 6-8 times, clean a minimal amount of soot, and collected $150, for 10 minutes of work. He did not clean from the top (roof) down.
I did not receive an email receipt, as promised.
