ROOFERS AND LAWYERS AND PLUMBERS... OH, MY! These three professions have at least one thing in common; You don't know or care anything about them until you really need one!
Our house sits in what is now about to be zoned commercially. Someday soon, it will be torn down to make room for a Burger Biggie or a MedCheck or a bank or something. We are just waiting it out until we can sell and move on with our retirement.
But a roof is something you really need, and we needed one badly!
We don't know any roofers, and none of our friends were particularly quick to recommend anyone. They either had never needed one, or they had a "less than great" experience. So we used "Thumbtack" for recommendations, and that's how we met Steve Kinney of Green Line Roofing.
We met with all the recommended companies provided by Thumbtack, and received their estimates. What set Steve apart from the other company represenatives we met with was that Steve was representing STEVE. Not a large company, where the owner has a business degreee, but has never set foot on a roof. Steve took the time to understand our situation, and actually tailor a proposal to our needs. He isn't a "one size fits all" kind of guy... and to honest, everyone else we met with in getting estimates were locked in to their companies parameters and directives. I would say they were "salesmen", and Steve was a "consultant". He worked with us, provided options where possible for our needs, and made recommendations based on HIS experience as a roofer. He spent the time with us to answer our questions, not with "Well, our policy is...", but with sound, logical "Here's why..." answers. He understood what we wanted, and he found ways to get it for us.
Our new roof is now on and looks great! We paid exactly what Steve estmated. I should say that he and his crew also did some repair work to our front porch, as well as tear off our old roof, replace some rotted decking and re-shingle the whole roof and porch. They started on time, worked steadily through the day, and by 4:00PM, they were packing up. They took great care to clean up all the old shingles, nails and scrap around the house when they were done.
It was, in a word, impressive.
I would, without reservation, recommend Steve Kinney and Green Line Roofing to anyone considering a new roof and looking for a professional who can and will meet your needs.
