The work was done in a very timely manner. The results were better than expected. Very professional group and I would easily and happily recommend them to others. The fence looks great.
BLUF: Do not use GRB. I would rate their customer service a 0 out of 5 and the quality of their work a -3 out 5 (you read that correctly). When there is an issue with the roof THEY replaced, they are unable to adequately address it and it could cause you further damage and rework down the line.
I reached out to GRB September 17, 2024 upon referral from my friend who used their services earlier in the year. We both have townhomes, but hers is in MD and about 20+ years old, and mine is in DC and over 60 years old; however both are roofs were about 10-15 years old. I start this review by saying she had a positive experience with GRB and the quality of their work. Unfortunately, I did not.
First, it took the rep 2 days to reach out (via text) to ask if he could come by that day for the consultation. He arrived an hour late, didn't go on the roof, and explained that "they do houses in DC all the time." He was impatient and rushed me, even though I had questions about financing and whether they would be able to do mold remediation for the damage inside my house. He said I can "figure that out with the office." I did not enjoy the consultation experience and planned not to go with them, but they had the cheapest financing by far of all 5 quotes I received (all of the quotes I received were within ~$1k of each other).
No assistance was provided with navigating financing, and after receiving payment, no one reached out regarding scheduling until I sent a strongly worded text message and then I was "upgraded" to a "manager" who called me once and then also returned to communicating via text message. It took 9 days to schedule removing my roof with no real communication or explanation. I was notified 48 hours before my installation, no confirmation of whether that day worked for me or not, no communication on what to expect--nothing.
On the day of, a man who I had never met, and who didn't introduce himself arrived and knocked on my door asking to plug in a piece of equipment (which they had plugged in all day). Several men worked on the crew throughout the day. It took 12 hours. I prioritized the roof being replaced, but had no idea how long it would take. At the end of their work, the crew just left and it was only the silence that let me know they stopped working. They did not notify me that they were done or update me on what work was done on the house. When I went outside the next day, I was greeted by debris and dirt, that I assume was part of the job, and miscellaneous bricks left in my backyard, all of which should have been cleaned and disposed of by the company.
In February and March, I noticed my hatch was leaking. With the roof under warranty, GRB came back both times to "fix" the issue. I experienced the same lack of communication and minimal effort to mitigate the issue. GRB did not offer mitigation steps in either month to address the leaking while it continued to rain and water leaked into my home. The manager blamed the issue on "older homes" while his crew admitted they did not know what the issue was at all. I ultimately had to call another roofing company to identify the issue and they assured me that the work should be covered under my warranty and to go back to GRB to get it fixed.
It's now July, and even though GRB supposedly fixed my hatch, it is still leaking AND I have an additional leak in another room of my house. This was not an area that was leaking before GRB replaced my roof. I don’t know what the team did when they were on the roof the first time nor any of the subsequent times, because these issues did not exist before I received service from GRB and they fail to adequately communicate about any of their work during the process. I am now in a position to have to replace my roof AGAIN in less than one year after installation.
What is the final straw is that the customer service is horrible. They are not accountable to their shoddy work or urgency in responding to complaints, nor trying to find resolutions. I would NOT recommend GRB for roofing services.
Another great experience with GRB. Last year they installed new shutters and gutters, this year a new roof and fence repair. Very responsive, professional, reasonable prices and excellent work. The crew worked tirelessly and finished in one day, and they cleaned everything up nicely. I’ll continue to recommend GRB! Thanks again for the great work!
