We have been buying materials from GW Smith for many years. Prices are very competitive even during times of historic price fluctuations in the lumber market. Great customer service and a wonderful kitchen department. I would highly recommend GW Smith to both homeowners and contractors.

called for a quote in early Oct. ordered the lumber the next day and payed the bill in full. was told my price was locked in and that they would hold my material until i needed it. called 3 weeks later to get the material i had already paid for in full and was told they couldn't honor that price, it would be double. talked to the owner and he said all they could do was refund my money which done me no good at all. i had framers coming the next day so i had to pay double for the wood i had already paid for. i even offered to split the difference even tho it wasn't my fault. the best they would do is sell me the material for cost and no delivery charge.....bottom line it cost me double and they are out nothing!! i know mistakes happen but where im from the customer is always right. I've spent thousands here when i could have went somewhere else but not again....GOOD LUCK

This is an awesome store to do business. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great place to do all your home building business or even small projects. It they do not have what you need, they will find it or put you on the correct path to locate it.

Very helpful, and they took their time to help me find exactly what I needed. Which wasn't easy, it was kind of a specialty item.

Very poor customer service. We were in the store one month ago and spent several hours speaking with a representative about materials we would need for the house we are building (my husband is doing most of the work himself) to obtain a cost so that we could present this to the bank. The store representative was taking notes, asking questions, explaining things to us that we didn't understand completely and offering suggestions. We walked through the store with this same representative and picked out roofing materials, doors, windows, flooring, etc. and were told he would be in touch. My husband has called the representative directly numerous times to obtain a status update over the past month, always having to leave a message. As of today, no returned phone call. My husband has called the store directly on a few occasions and left a message, with whomever answered the phone, for the specific representative who was helping us. Each time the store was called and the message was left, we were informed that the representative we had initially spoken with was in fact at work and had been at work every day. As of today, no returned phone call. If there is a backlog of work due to the COVID crisis, an issue with our house plans that we presented, or whatever the reason may be that has caused a delay in processing the cost of items needed for our house, we would understand and patiently wait; if only we had received a returned phone call. We however, find it 100% unprofessional to be completely ignored with absolutely no returned phone call or communication for an entire month. We visited another location last week, presented the same house plans, talked with the representative and chose the items needed for the house. Since that meeting we have received a few phone calls from this representative with questions and suggestions regarding our house plans and should have all information needed for the bank by the end of the week. We by no means ever expected rushed service or specialized treatment by any representative, only to receive a returned phone call with a status update from at least one of the many phone messages we left.

Friendly and well communicative. Very understanding on any projects as long you have common sense along with it and able to tell you those "do & don't" on any projects.
