For Valor Roofing

My experience with this company has been excellent. The service is awesome and the work is done within a timely manner. I would recommend this company to anyone interested.

We are extremely pleased with our experience with Valor Roofing. Hampton kept us informed as to his arrival, clearly explained what our roof required, and then took care of the problem. He also went above and beyond to correct some other minor issues he noticed while going about his repairs. We were so impressed with him, we decided to have him install gutter protectors, which he was able to do on the same visit. We will definitely be in contact with Valor when we get new siding.

I wanted to give a shoutout to Valor Roofing and Hampton Young. I had some water backing up from a drain in my basement. Hampton was able to come fast- (with the big winter storm on the way, and the cold) he worked from daylight to dusk to night with a head light on- and in the cold- to make sure this got done before the big snow- made openings on my down spouts to be able to access the drains/off my gutters- in order to clean them out and make sure nothing was impacting them to cause the back up. Hampton even got his own sewer snake - and snaked the drain- so I did not have to get a plumber out also for the second 1/2 of the job. Hampton was kind and very knowledgeable. Down to earth and able to help put me to ease and explain the process to me about the work he was doing and some other questions I had about my roof and attic. Hampton took his time with this project and did an excellent job. I will definitely keep in touch and plan to use valor roofing for future projects.

I used to think I knew him. So I recommend him to my uncle who had his roof damaged in the storms. So this guy Hampton completely screwed my uncle over! He came out as soon as possible to look at everything and he also put a few tarps on it. Cool. He tells me he gave me a fair price for what they're getting. Tells me I'm getting 7% commission for recommending the job. This is March mind you. He says it should be done by mid April.. great. In this time my uncle has already given him 13500 of the 22k "good bid" out of his own pocket. Long story short, this guy James Hampton Young, has basically ghosted everyone since being paid. Charges have already been pressed and a lawsuit had been filed. If you have any sense at all call the authorities if you come into contact with James Hampton Young. He might also go by Logan or John.

Hampton and his crew came in and took a heavy burden of replacing my roof and siding off of my shoulders and I can not thank them enough. Everything was spot on, even the price was unbeatable. They did a perfect job in a very timely manner, would recommend over and over. Thanks Hampton

I can't say enough great things about this company, Hampton and his crew really saved me and my family a lot of money headaches and turmoil. Plus our new roof looks amazeballs and is FINALLY leak free.

We had an ice dam on our roof caused by the January winter storm. My husband and I reached out to several companies and no one was coming out until the following week, which is A LONG time when water is coming into the house. We were lucky to find Hampton from a neighbor and he went on our roof the same day/evening and broke up and removed all of the ice for a fair price. We were so relieved that he came on site, addressed and fixed our problem. He is such a nice guy and easy to work with!

Update 6/6/25 FVR responded 130 days after initial BBB complaint stating they are not willing to provide a refund.

Update 5/13/25 BBB has suspended For Valor Roofing (FVR) accreditation.

After speaking with the BBB, they stated For Valor Roofing has been contacted 4 times and is non-responsive and are starting the expulsion process of the company as a BBB accredited business. They also suggested I contact the Missouri Attorney General.

For Valor Roofing received payment and repeatedly broke contract, damaged windows, destroyed material with poor installation, left construction materials for months, refused to return phone calls, and disappeared for weeks at a time. Siding work began on August 20th, 2024 and was less than halfway completed when I gave up on working with this company January 14th, 2025. I tried a lot of solutions, including reducing the scope of the work, asking for a refund, and asking for their insurance & surety bond. None of these worked and it will cost nearly triple the initial bid to repair the damage For Valor Roofing caused.
Some of the work looks acceptable from far away, but getting up close shows visible gaps and breaks in our siding where wind, water, and animals can easily get in, as well as damage to windowsills from Hampton's incomplete work.
I would not recommend working with this company without an ironclad contract, a current copy of their company insurance policy, a copy of their surety bond, and a backup plan for when the work is completed poorly. Check ongoing complaints at the Better Business Bureau before entering a contract with For Valor Roofing.

My business adventure with For Valor Roofing has been a terrible roller coaster ride. First off, I feel they can be ok for small jobs around your house for $1000 or less, as we had used him for a gutter repair the year prior. But for major jobs involving insurance checks ranging $10,000 or more, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND them.

We (me & my fiance) started a contract with Hampton, owner of Valor roofing, in August 2023 for the storm damage done to the house/garage that summer. Our insurance company already did their walkthrough and gave us our insurance check with an itemized/allocated list. The list consists of the cost of each part that needs to be repaired and the cost allowed. Hampton clearly understood this when we signed a contract with him to fully do repairs. We gave him all the money upfront so he could order all the parts and start this project, knowing he had trusting homeowners working with him. (we later realize this was a grave mistake)

It took until November 2023 for him to get started on the garage framework. After taking 3 more months to finish the framework, we thought he would repair the shelves, lights, and garage door opener that was also damaged and also in the insurance claim. Of course, that was put on the back burner and never finished to 100% completion. In Feb. 2024, he was ready to start on the roof/shingles replacement for the house and garage. Surprisingly, it was done in one day with a full crew, but this is the last time we ever saw him with full fledge crew ever again.

In April/May 2024, we asked him when the gutters, downspouts, & etc could be started. He gave us a long run around of excuses, but after being firm for weeks (calling & texting an extreme amount), he finally started to order the items needed. By mid-June, he dropped off all the gutters and downspouts. He claimed a crew would be there within a week or two to tear down the old gutters and put in the new ones. After having gutters & downspouts sit at our house for almost 3 weeks, we had to go out of our way and pay a different company of sub-contractors to install the new gutters & downspouts. We were very disappointed that Hampton left us hanging like this after putting our faith in him.

He never finished the contract as I write this currently in the month of Jan.2025. He took the money we had for awnings & siding, never put them up, and gave a grocery list worth of excuses of why that wasn't enough money from the insurance company and he needed more than the grand total of $4000 - $5000 we were given from the insurance company for siding & awings. We never saw an itemized list from him showing how much of our insurance money he actually used to buy our items.

Overall Breakdown:
He spent all our insurance, and only 60% of the contract was only done after having the time frame of August 2023 - December 2024 to work with. Once you start asking about the project after it has been months, Hampton will start ignoring your communication in all forms (text, call, & email). We haven't verbally spoken to Hampton since June 2024 after trying to get clarity on the contract and why it can't be completed (also is there a chance we could get the money from our unfinished projects back?) Hampton will only text back once every blue moon and doesn't believe in verbal communication if he "doesn't get his way".

This company is down right the best, super cool on price and they actually show up when they said they were going to. Plus new roof looks absolutely amazing and it's leak free and so much more efficient than the last one. Big shout out to Hampton and his crew of dedicated workers..
I will most definitely recommend and use them again in the future

We were able to call and speak directly with someone on Sunday (not an answering service). They were able to come out quickly and fix our roofing problem the same day. Very knowledgeable and super quick response! Thanks so much!

I own an older house in U City. I had a small hole at the peak of the roof. I contacted 2 roofing companies prior to reaching For Valor. Ham was very responsive and completed the work in a timely manner. Still waiting to hear from the other two firms.

Hampton did a great job looking at our roof (and other areas of the house) to consider all possibilities that might be causing a leak. He was thorough and communicated well what he thought might need to be done to fix our issues. He took photos and videos of all potential problem spots (before and after) and showed us as the work was being completed. On top of that, he was as nice as can be to the whole family. He would take time out of his time getting work done to listen to my kids questions and was very friendly. Thanks for all of the hard work and we will definitely be using him again next time we have an issue.

Excellent prompt service and quality. I was in a pinch installing a sewer vent in the winter and Hampton saved the day.

I would highly highly highly recommend For Valor! Hampton was able to come the same day I called and get the repairs done for a very fair price! He is an honest guy who just wants to help others out - he won’t try to scam you like other companies. Definitely recommend!

Update June 4, 2025: Over an entire year since I paid the 60% deposit and the work has not been completed. Material has not even been delivered. Hampton continually made excuse after excuse and refuses to provide a refund after flaking on dozens of attempts to do the job.
Despite his claim SEVEN months ago on this review, nothing has been done as promised and he has continued to hold onto my money. BBB complaints and complaints to the Attorney Generals office have all gone nowhere and Hampton does not care to uphold his contract or refund my money.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I contacted Hampton back in April due to my roof leaking into my home. In May, I paid 60% down payment of the roof for materials to be ordered which were received within a few weeks. It is now September, over FOUR months later and my roof has not been replaced.

I have been given dozens of promises of dates it’ll be done, and never contacted if something came up until I reached out AFTER the time it was supposed to be done passed.

Now, I am being ghosted by the owner to get my money back after yet again I was promised service to be done and wasn’t until three unanswered phone calls, several texts, and 8 hours later that I’m told it won’t be done today, with rain incoming for the next several days.

Absolute scam of a company that should be ashamed of how little value they put on their customers time, money and home. Now my money is tied up in limbo to actually fix my home until I finally get a refund or I have to get the courts involved.

And before these facts are attempted to be disputed, I have months of texts with the owner showing blatant disregard and lack of services performed.

Edit: After 2 weeks of stating he would give me a refund, Hampton has STILL not done so. Claiming they couldn't return my materials, but didn't decide to let me know until I once AGAIN had to reach out and see what was going on after his initial deadline passed.

I cannot give enough negative reviews for Hampton and For Valor Roofing as they've continued to hold onto my funds, not allowing me to go to another company to get my home fixed.

Hampton was quick to take my money. Said work would be completed next day maybe 2 with weather but after 4 weeks he finally showed up. Didn't do what was in the contract. Did a cheap patch job and charged me for an entire side of the roof including new drip edge and underlayment and one piece of sheeting. They plugged it and threw on 5 or so shingles that didn't match. Avoid this company. Terrible communication, constant lies, not worth the headache.

I am grateful to For Valor Roofing for their exceptional roofing service, which provided peace of mind and a durable, beautiful roof.

After the recent storm my roof was in bad shape. I called For Valor Roofing they came right out and we filed a claim and they got my whole roof, gutters, awnings and siding all paid for by my insurance. They were very professional and had all the work done in a week. They’re the best roofing company in St.Louis. I recommend them for all roofing and especially insurance claims.

I called Valor for help with getting an emergency tarp put down. A leak in my house started and there have been frequent storms. Hampton came out the same morning and installed the emergency tarp and gave me helpful information to have for my insurance claim. Really great experience and customer service!

Contacted For Valor Roofing for a roof inspection, Hampton came out that day. After looking at the damage (lots of hail) he suggested I file a claim. Insurance covered everything but my deductible - got a full roof replacement, full gutter replacement, and my siding was replaced - all within 3 days! Easily the best roofing company in St. Louis. I only recommend For Valor Roofing!!! Thank you Hampton!

Hampton came out and repaired a damaged soffit for us. He completed the work in a timely manor and did a great job. Reasonably priced, too. Will use For Valor for any future roofing needs!

EDIT: We just used For Valor Roofing to completely replace the roof on our home, which was quite old and hard to access on certain sides due to its proximity to neighbors. Hampton and For Valor Roofing did not disappoint, he quickly sent us a bid for a new roof, and beat every other roofer we had gotten bids from, and was the most personable and explained everything that needed to be done to have the perfect roof. They finished the roof in one day, and were very efficient with the work done. When we need another roof replaced we will definitely be going to For Valor Roofing and Hampton first.

We needed some roof leaks repaired and siding reattached to the home. Hampton worked with me and was very personable and understanding. He got the work done quickly and for a reasonable cost. Would recommend.

Hampton did a great job and did it all by himself. Quite impressive. He even put on leaf guards on my gutter. Now I don’t have to worry about that anymore. It all boils down to what a great job he did. Now my roof doesn’t leak!

The work I needed done was not a high value job. So I received a very unprofessional priority on his list. Numerous date changes time changes etc. This went on for weeks. After the job was completed a downspout fell right off. I notified him. For weeks I kept texting calling etc. At least 5 weeks or more. My downspout layed on the ground. Many promises to get there and fix it. But it took weeks. I believe he did this because he gave me an ok deal. But to tell the truth I would have gladly paid someone else a 100 more than I pay d him. Just because it was not a huge job and not thousands of dollars does not mean you get to treat people the way he did to me. I tried to stay nice till he finally got it all corrected. Even then he used supplies that were on it when it fell down. Banged up fasteners etc. You would think he would at least put new ones on. He treats you different depending on your location and stature.

Hampton was quick and easy to work with, he gave us a quick estimate and began work promptly.

Incredibly friendly and always looking to go the extra mile for his clients.

We appreciated his candor and work ethic. He made working with him simple and straightforward.

You will not be disappointed by the quality of work he can do.

Hampton gave us a great price and was able to start work 2 days later. He's super knowledgeable about roofs, and walked us through the details of what was causing our problems and how to fix them. He finished the project in one day and the new gutter guards look great!

This was a small job,but how can I say this i was treated like I was having a major roof installed. So

Had both skylights leaking (breeze) during a 15 degree windy day. Called Valor and Hampton(owner) came over, went up the roof and appled caulk and wrapped both with a weather sealant. And all this on a Sunday.

My son recently passed away leaving his home in the ownership of my eight year old grandson. My son was in the process of obtaining a bid on replacing his roof at the time of his death. I hired For Valor Roofing because the owner, Hampton was responsive to my inquiries and fair and reasonable on his bid. Hampton and his crew were very sensitive to our situation and went above and beyond even offering to do some extra projects unrelated to the roof and gutter replacement at no additional charge! My husband and I have made a friend for life with Hampton. I'm sure Hampton's parents are so proud of the caring young man he is, his honest work ethic, his knowledge and just an overall kind human being.

Hampton and his team have been my go-to for a couple of years now and they have always been great to work with. I had water getting into my basement and they quickly diagnosed the problem with my gutters and fixed them the same day. Hampton is very knowledgeable and was able to point out some other issues and fix them before they turned into a bigger problem. He’s definitely my first call for an inspection after some of these nasty storms that we’ve had this summer.

For Valor Roofing recently installed my new, beautiful roof. Hampton did an amazing job working with my claim adjuster and I am so pleased I have hired him & his team to paint my house, install gutters and new awnings. You will not find a more caring contractor focused on pleasing his customers. Note that in the picture, only the roof has been completed. I have no doubt the rest of the house will soon look just as good!
