I employed Final Analysis for 3 properties, consecutively in the Newport News area that we were considering to buy. I know w/o doubt that we benefited significantly here. Reuben Autery who typically is dispatched for Newport News, Hampton, and Williamsburg inspections brings an uncommon intelligence, work ethic, and conscientiousness to his trade.

I am impressed.

Reuben is fantastic - professional, methodical, knowledgeable and very detail oriented. Well worth the cost. He found issues we didn't even think could be problems. Reuben was also extremely patient and answered all our questions and addressed our concerns and observations. Saved us from a problematic wrong decision. I am keeping his card as I continue my search. Highly recommend!!!

Reuben Autery saved us from a $33,000 nightmare.

My wife and I are skilled DIYers thus we know how to frame, plumb, drywall, run electric, set tile and etc., but for our home search we needed a professional home inspection in order to have our interests protected. Let me assure you that Reuben is a consummate professional. He is very knowledgeable, thorough and thoughtful of the needs of his client because he is working for you and only you.

Reuben was able to detect a saturated subfloor and framing via a storage closet on the deck. This and other clues pointed out by Reuben lead me to pursue the condo association directly. It was at this point we learned there were three bids to remove & replace the EIFS at a cost of $33,000 per unit and we opted out of the contract. The seller did not disclose.
We subsequently had Rueben inspect a second home for us. It was in great shape already and Rueben’s polished inspection report allowed us to clearly communicate our items of concern which were repaired by the owner prior to settlement. Hire Rueben, you can trust him.

I used Final Analysis Home Inspection for my home inspection. My inspector's name was Reuben, he provided me with a very detailed and thorough report of all of the deficiencies going on at the property. He was very professional and made me very confident during the purchasing process of my home. After the inspection I felt like I was an inspector myself after all the knowledge i had obtained. He even let me go up on the roof with him so i could see for myself what was going on up there (at my own discretion of course). Even though the seller did not fix everything on the report, at least I have peace of mind knowing what is wrong with the property so I can do the repairs on my own down the road. All in all it was a great experience and I new he was working for ME not a real estate agent. I would highly recommend Final Analysis Home Inspection. Thanks again Reuben. -Will

I went with Final-Analysis based on the excellent reviews they've received everywhere I looked (Angie's List, Google, Facebook) and was impressed with what Dan had to say, his insight and views on the process when I called him. FA is at the higher end of the price spectrum based on the quotes I received at other places, but I generally don't mind paying a higher price for something as critical as a home purchase, or any service for that matter, because 1) it warrants higher expectations for the service on my end, and 2) in my experience is indicative of how a business views itself and what it brings to the table for their client.

That said, Adam, Reuben, and Chris exceeded my expectations. That's right, I had a crew of 3 extremely professional, knowledgeable, and helpful home inspectors. Not just one. I was surprised as were my agent and the seller's agent. It sure seems like a smart and efficient way to thoroughly inspect a home and they worked very well as a team. It's also reassuring to know there were three sets of eyes looking at and evaluating the home .

They arrived 30 minutes early as they were coming from Va Beach to Newport News and wanted to ensure they had time to navigate the bridges/tunnels. They got right to work upon arrival and already had the roof and backyard area done when I arrived. Adam filled me in on what they had found so far and informed me on how they were going to approach the rest of the inspection. They encouraged me to ask questions of any of them at anytime, invited me to follow them around and look around on my own as well. They were extremely professional and accommodating throughout. I can't state enough how impressed I was with all of them. They answered all of my questions, were able to put things I was unfamiliar with in layman's terms, explained how certain issues can affect other things or lead to other problems, things to keep in mind for the future, gave me rough estimates, a ballpark idea on what certain things might/should cost to repair, and even offered some objective opinions on who some of the better contractors were whose work they had encountered before and were impressed by.

It's really worth repeating how thorough they were. Both realtors, probably with 40 years combined experience, both commented on it numerous times and were asking questions about their approach and methods. "Why are you running the water for so long?", "Why are you running multiple water sources simultaneously?", "Why do you turn on all the fans?". The answers to some of these questions might seem obvious, but the fact the agents were asking these questions (and perhaps one even seemed a little perturbed) reaffirmed my confidence in the quality and thoroughness of the work being done and my decision to go with FA over one of the agent "recommended" or cheaper inspectors. Dan and the FA crew make it abundantly clear they are your representative/advocates in the process. They work for you and their goal is to make you wholly aware and fully informed. That's extremely reassuring in a business where at times it can seem like many people involved have an incentive to push things through for their own interests.

At the end of the inspection Adam went line by line over everything they encountered/found and gave me detailed explanations and put things in perspective for me. He highlighted the main issues he felt required immediate attention and answered all of my follow up questions. As they were packing up Reuben saw my agent and I looking at and discussing some of the issues they brought to light and stopped to check if we had any questions or wanted any more clarification. These guys had a a drive and full day ahead of them with more inspections, but they didn't leave until they were sure I was satisfied. Again, extremely professional. Adam encouraged me to contact him with any new or follow up questions I had, and if I wanted his opinion on contractors or quotes I received for work that needed to be done. I'm extremely grateful for that as much of this is new to me.

I was thrilled when I found out Final Analysis did inspections in Williamsburg because I used them for 2 houses I bought in Virginia Beach and being a local company, I didn't think they came this far. Turns out they have an office and local inspectors. They have really grown and their inspections are more advanced and detailed than ever and with the same highly ethical business standards. My inspector Reuben was extremely kind and professional. He did a thorough ...and I mean THOROUGH inspection and did not leave until he felt I had a good understanding of the house. He found and reported an older style "Stab-Lock" breaker box that was recalled because they cause fires and presented these facts in the report. Thanks to him the seller has agreed to replace the entire service panel which is quite expensive. He saved me $1300 and a possible house fire. Thank you Final Analysis for saving my hide...once again.

Service questions

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
