On Sunday, I had a carbon monoxide leak in my home. I found Chimney Sweep & Repair Experts through a Google Search. Set up a service call to have my chimney swept because the fire department and gas company determined that was the cause of the CO leak.

Chimney Sweep sent out a technician from SB Masonry "a sister company" to do the job. The technician, came out and assessed the situation and determined I needed a chimney liner. He quoted me $5,600 for a liner, but would give me a discount if I gave him a deposit that day. I told him I needed to research what was going on and talk to my friends who are knowledgable in home repairs. I was told, I had until 8:00 to make a decision and give a deposit or the discount would not apply.

I didn't give a deposit, the technician left my house without even cleaning the chimney so that I could at the very least get the gas company out to turn my heat/hot water/stove back on. Not only that, he left two ladders, one up against the house leading to my upstairs where my daughter and I sleep. Not very comforting.

The next morning, I got a text that he was "extending the deal", to which I didn't reply. A few calls and texts later about picking up his ladders, I didn't reply because I was busy with a different chimney company. He showed up at the house to get his equipment. Still tried to convince me "he talked to his boss and could get me yet another discount". I said I wasn't interested in dealing with someone who would literally leave me in the cold because I wouldn't commit to a $5,000+ job on the spot. Another call, email and attempt at getting the job this time "with his personal discount" and I finally blocked the phone number.

This technician tried to take advantage of a woman (and her daughter) who knows nothing about home repairs and was in a vulnerable situation with no heat, hot water, gas to cook, etc. and left without doing the simple job of cleaning the chimney, which is what I placed the service call for. I don't recommend this company.
