Update 4/21/25
EY Contractors has followed through and completed the replacement of my roof. Pending GAF review.
Update 3/29/25
Following GAF inspection, GAF confirmed my whole roof needs to be replaced due to many issues outlined below. EY Contractors has followed up to confirm they will replace my roof. They recognized the crew at the time failed to properly install my roof. Will update this review once the roof replacement is complete and passed inspections.
Updates 2/21/25:
GAF sent one of their Field Service Reps out to inspect my roof since EY Contractors has been unresponsive to any of my attempts to contact them in the last 5 weeks
-----------------------------------
The process started out promising, with an informative walkthrough covering their process, products, warranty details, and scheduling. However, the roof installation and the follow-up service is a major issue:
1. Incomplete Protection During Installation: On the day the underlayment was being installed, there were passing storms, and EY left portions of the roof uncovered. Resulted in decking having to be replaced due to the crews carelessness. luckily it did not result in more severe damage.
2. Overdriven Nails: During the installation, many nails were being overdriven, which compromises the integrity of the shingles. I notified EY of this, however, they did not address this. This issue is confirmed by the GAF inspector (see number 6 below).
3. Incorrect Flashing Installed: The bid included lead flashings for the vent pipes, but EY installed rubber flashings instead. This required multiple visits to resolve and is overall deceitful. They tried to brush this off as an error on their quote.
4. Improper Vent Hole Repair: When removing old vents, EY failed to properly replace the decking or use “Smart Plugs” for the vent holes. Instead, they laid down a piece of underlayment, thin steel, and shingles over the holes with nails driven through (not to code). When they did bring smart plugs they were incorrectly sized and a safety hazard. This also took multiple visits and a GAF claim to resolve.
Current Issues (a few months shy of two years post-install). Updated on 3/18/25 w/ issues identified by GAF inspector.
5. Leaks and Water Damage: I went into the attic to inspect the roof from below and noticed multiple spots of water damage from water intrusion. The GAF inspector believes this is from improperly installed shingles/flashing at the valleys.
6. Overdriven nails: The GAF inspector identified that every nail in every area checked was blown through the shingles or driven at an angle. My shingles are essentially floating on my roof sheathing and the open nail holes introduce thousands of holes for water to leak through.
7. Vent Installation: EY failed to reconnect vent ducts properly which has been allowing warm bathroom vent air into my attic space, causing moisture issues. They also did not properly install vents with ice and water shield to prevent water leaks.
8. Shingles and underlayment misapplied (GAF inspector identified): There are sections of my roof that are wavy due to EY incorrectly installing underlayment or shingles. EY also used standard staples to install the underlayment when GAF specifically states cap nails are to be used.
9. Ridge vent (GAF inspector identified): Installed incorrectly and is mushrooming up in areas. Shingles are also covering up portions of the ridge cutout, restricting airflow.
The other major concern is EY's unwillingness to honor the warranty they readily sell and instead ghost their customers. This is not the behavior of a "Master Elite" installer or a "Top Roofing Company" as they claim to be.
In addition, in response to their response. Whether EY remediated earlier issues, is irrelevant to the fact that the original install clearly shows poor workmanship that unsuspecting customers may not catch. The fact that GAF is stating a full roof replacement is needed is extremely telling.

Amazing service. They have done various projects so far for me from roof replacement to gutter replacement/modification to gutter cleaning. Always very on time and professional. Highly recommend them

I hired EY based on their great reviews, and they lived up to the hype! We needed all our gutters replaced. Yuri and Eduardo completed the job super fast at a very reasonable price. Everything matched what we agreed upon, and the end result looks great!

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.
The cost to replace the roof of a commercial building typically ranges from $5 to $12 per square foot, depending on several factors such as roof size, material, labor rates, building type, and local code requirements.
Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.
Roof leak repair cost generally ranges from $300 to $800, depending on the size and location of the leak, the materials required, and labor intensity. Complex leaks involving structural repairs or interior damage will cost more.
Flat roof repair cost for commercial properties usually ranges from $500 to $3,000, depending on the roofing material (TPO, EPDM, PVC), the extent of the damage, and roof accessibility.
Mobile home roof replacement cost typically ranges from $3,000 to $8,000, making it generally more affordable than traditional home roof replacements, due to smaller size and simpler structure.
It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.
The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.
To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.
Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.
When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.
Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
