We use Excel Chimney for chimney and masonry repair on our 1939 home. Each time they have been a pleasure to deal with in terms of clear communication, scheduling, explanation of the extent of the work needed, and fair price. We will use them again as needed and recommend them to others.

Excellent service from Excel Chimney. We had an outside chimney that looked bad after the new deck was installed. They made our old chimney look brand new!! Other bidders wanted to tear it down and replace the chimney - the easier and more expensive approach.

Exel Chimney really knows what they are doing. This is the second time we have used them. Excellence.

We have used Excel Chimney & Fireplace a few times doing brickwork on our 1929 Tudor. Excel has always been responsive, prompt, and cost competitive. We are confident enough in their work that my wife recommends them to all of her clients.

I'm a real estate broker and deal with contractors regularly. Excel was incredible; from start to finish. They got back to me immediately; were able to squeeze me in quickly, their work was phenomenal, on time and a reasonable price. You could tell that they cared. I don't often rave about contractors but they were so good it was worth writing this review. Don't hesitate to hire them!

We had our chimney inspected and repair work done 10 years ago by Excel Chimney. We don't live on site. Our long term tenants moved out recently. We discovered a water leak from the chimney. It caused slow and extensive water damage to wood studs behind the sheet rock. 2x4s are slowly rotting away over the years. We got on the roof and found out the metal cap on top was not installed correctly. It covered only part of the area it intended to prevent water leak. Worst yet, the partial coverage created a groove for water to collect at the top of the chimney, resulting in leaking down the chimney. We contacted Excel recently and provided them with pictures to show their poor quality repair work done. Their response is the repair work is out of warranty. Our tenants might have fiddled with metal cap on top of the chimney, or someone else might have. They are not taking responsibility. Their best offer is to charge $300.00 to wrap up the chimney to stop the leaking until further repair. We regret we did not go on the roof to inspect their end work. Their implication that someone else fiddled with their work is absurd. They insist we are out of warranty, but they created the problem from day one, which was not discovered until now.

It was a pleasure to work with Excel Chimney from start to finish. They were clear upfront when they could come inspect our chimneys and give us a quote. The quote came in under their estimated time frame, just a couple days later. We trusted the great reviews here and hired them for the job. Our two chimneys were both in rough shape, one needed some brick rebuilding and both needed new capping/flashing. Even on our steep roof, the team was safe and got the work done in the exact estimated time. And our fireplace no longer leaks, so I'm a very happy customer. Thanks so much.

These guys do awesome work. Jose was the lead on our chimney and he was super nice and detail-oriented. It was leaning away from the house because a previous repair was done wrong. It also did not have a flue liner or any significant earthquake reinforcements and the mortar and a few bricks were crumbling. We were "quite a project". They tore the chimney down to the roof line and rebuilt it, about 15 feet, and replaced the mortar down to the 12 inches below the ground (they dug down to replace the mortar below grade, which i was so glad they recommended) I am so glad we went with Excel. They also tuck pointed our front entry which now looks amazing and gives us peace of mind. Would recommend these guys in a heart beat.

My 85 year old chimney was crumbling and needed so much help. When it rained outside, it rained into my fireplace. Jeremy and his crew rebuilt it from the roofline up and tuck pointed from the roofline down. The flashing was redone, a new cleanout door installed and also a new flue liner. They were able to clean my bricks and reuse them. It's SO pretty now!! I appreciated their communication with what they were doing each day, how long it would take, and what rooms they would need access to. They were very willing to answer every question. Jeremy wore his mask inside, took off his boots, and made sure the jobsite was clean when they were entirely finished. I did end up waiting a few months for a start date, but it was worth the wait. When you
spend money on a larger project you want to love it and I LOVE MY "NEW" CHIMNEY!!! As a side note this company was more affordable than the 3 other estimates I got. Thank you Excel Chimney.

We hired Excel Chimney to do some infill at a client's home. I was so impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail. Not only did they show up on time, the site was left spotless. Thank you Excel Chimney! Looking forward to working on future projects together.

We used Excel to do extensive repair work to our main chimney which had widespread areas where the mortar was badly eroded, the flashing in need of replacement and the fireplace was no longer safe to use. They also fixed the flashing, sealed some bad mortar and replaced the metal chimney cap on our utility chimney that vents our gas hot water heater, stove hood fan and furnace.

We had originally gotten a bid from another chimney company who told us our whole main chimney needed to be entirely rebuilt. Thankfully we shopped around and got a few other bids from companies who didn’t think it was at all necessary to tear down and rebuild it.

Our Excel sales guy who came out and provided the bid was Tom Bennett. Tom was absolutely fantastic to work with. He was very knowledgeable (30 yrs of masonry experience) and a really great guy. He’s a high integrity, straight shooter who didn’t waste a minute of our time or recommend unnecessary repairs. He was really quick to get us the quote, his follow-up was prompt, thorough and professional and also came by to inspect the job after it was completed.

We had a two man crew who did the work and they were both excellent, hard workers (Thomas and Frank) who did a great job transforming our 1926 chimney into, for all intents and purposes, a brand new chimney. They were both friendly, helpful guys, Thomas even did a little extra detailed repair to the mortar that held in some of the fireplace tile around the opening of the fireplace. The guy was an artist. He blended the pigment in the repair mortar to match the color of the original tile work perfectly.

The whole job turned out great. The guys cleaned up at the end of each day and when the chimney repair was finished, they cleaned up the exterior walls, garden beds at the foot of the chimney and every other area of the work site. We couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience. Really top notch all around and most importantly the chimney looks fantastic. Five stars.

The team did a great job tuckpointing the brick foundation on our home. The estimate was fast, accurate and fair. The crew that did the work did a detailed job and was great to work with. We look forward to working with them again in the future.

I can't recommend Excel highly enough. The on-site guys were very good, clean and quick. Also, the office was responsive to questions/concerns and communicative with schedule.

We shopped around for a number of estimates from chimney repair businesses to get a new top and some mortar repairs for our 1941 chimney. Excel came in around the middle of the pack, but we were impressed by their thorough inspection and their professional demeanor.

In advance of the work their staff answered all our questions and was even able to get the work done months earlier than we had anticipated. The crew (William and Jesus) were very nice and worked hard in the cold weather and answered any new questions that came up.

The final job was done really well and they left the house and yard cleaned up perfectly. All the work was done as promised and they took care to make sure the final product was all we could have expected.

We've only had one fire since they finished, but I think the smoke is drawing better because they recommended a larger flue at the top. Yay!

We purchased a new home and had a list of chimney-related repairs. Excel responded to our emails and questions with helpful information and different options for our situation. We were in their busiest season but they gave us the option to be on their short-notice list, so their team could come by if a window opened up.

On site, they were helpful and patient, and there was one item on our to-do list that they said we didn't even need based on what they could see. We felt that Excel really cared about customer service and professionalism, and we will definitely refer them to our friends and neighbors.

Excel Chimney & Fireplace Repair and Services deserves more than 5 stars. Every person I was in contact with was professional and courteous. The mason who built our fireplace was truly an artist, encouraged our input every step of the way, and the final product was better than I even imagined. I could not be more impressed with the professionalism and quality of work.

I’ve had all sorts of remodeling, repair, landscaping and maintenance work done on my house over the past 20 years. So I’ve had a lot of experience with many different contractors (big and small) for estimates and for the actual work. Excel is one of the best I’ve ever had!
The crew put away tools and removed trash every day when they finished, leaving very little evidence of that day’s work. And they made sure to cover the unfinished, open chimney before they left each day in case of rain. They were careful not to run into the block wall bordering my driveway. On a personal level, the crew was very friendly and considerate.
All around a great experience. I've already contacted them to do more work for me.

Scheduled major maintenance with this company. They did a wonderful job within a reasonable amount of time for a good price. Very professional.

The excel team helped us solve a poor drafting double sided fireplace. When I suggested a chimney fan, they did all of the research, secured the parts, and coordinated with our electrician for installation. This was not a small project, they had a full team on site, supervised by their foreman, and came back post-installation to double check their work. The fan solved our problem, and they're now our "chimney guys". Only problem is the word is out, so book them as early as you can!

I was very pleased with the work by Excel. As a (mere) homeowner, I am not in a good position to address the quality of the work, but it seemed very good to me.

Excel was recommended by our roofer, and we had a very positive experience. Though we didn't get competing bids, I felt his rates were reasonable, and he gave us some options to make it less expensive. The work that was done was excellent, and all of the workers were very courteous.

Someone came to evaluate my chimney and give me a bid. They never told me ( and I forgot to ask) what the turn around to me would be for the bid. I called three days later and they said it would be a week but to call if I hadn’t heard anything because “they are so busy”. It has been almost three weeks and I haven’t heard a thing.
If a company wants a job and good reviews I should not have to call to find out the bid and more importantly they should not not bother to call me at all.
These folks have high ratings on Next Door in my neighborhood in Viewridge but I am completely unimpressed.
I went with Safeguard Chimney. Israel was professional and responsive and explained everything thoroughly and wore a mask ( which the Excel person didn’t nor seemed to have in his pocket).

Update, I got a call a week ago with an apology. However, I still wonder a bit about the response here because they had my phone number as well and could have called me if the email bounced back or even a follow up call to an email quote with no response to see if I had questions.
Maybe this was just a one off for their company.

They did an outstanding job of repairing our fireplace. No matter where Iive in Seattle & surrounding areas, I will definitely call them again if I have problems with any fireplaces.

I have hired Excel four times over the last 20 years. They've rebuilt portions of our 106-year-old chimney, tuckpointed the entire house (it's brick on all four sides), rebuilt the front columns, and done all the prep work for a gas fireplace insert. I could not be more pleased with their prices and the quality of their work, and I have been impressed by every single crew member that has worked here over the years (the most recent job was beautifully done by Jeremy and William).

Dick, the owner, is one of those amazing type of men that remind me of my father: honest, polite, helpful and knowledgeable to name but a few. Dick and his crew did masonry/point and tuck work for us that allowed us to keep our existing chimney with an architectural top. Work is top notch. And because Excel chooses to rely on word-of-mouth instead of glitzy advertising and custom-made, fancy bidding portfolios, Dick's prices don't have to include advertising product and design fees. Also, Dick was recommended by both two other masons who were too busy and our roofer, Aza of Mountain Goat Roofing. They know who's good and said Dick is one of the best ever. Our family agrees.

It's always a pleasant surprise to have a contractor exceed your expectations. It hasn't happened to me very often. But that was my experience with Excel Chimney when they repaired our 40 year old, moss-covered and leaking chimney. They did high quality work at a fair price, and their people are first rate....customer service oriented, friendly, treated our property with respect, and they left the job site cleaner than they found it. How often does that happen? I have no hesitancy in recommending this company.

HEADSUP! Unless your job is urgent, you may have to wait awhile to get on their schedule. They get a lot of calls for help.

Excel Chimney knows their stuff! Fast and Courteous expert service. My chimney cap flew off in the last windstorm, and Dick responded to my call immediately, and was there the next day to see the problem. He gave me two options, the quick way and the right way, and explained why getting a proper cap that fit would be important. He came back the next day with the cap and installed it.
