Ex Home Solutions did a great job redoing our roof deck with a new waterproof membrane, decking, and rails. The design and materials advice were excellent, the work was on time, on budget, and of high quality, and the team on site was professional and personable. The final price was very reasonable. Many of our neighbors in the Kensington MD area have had similarly excellent experiences. Highly recommended.

It was a "bumpy" ride, but am glad things got resolved eventually...

Issues:
- we got delivered the standard Landmark Series shingles. We were supposed to get the PRO series. I had to find this discrepancy. They did the swap 2 days later when the install would take place. (The shingles distributor uses a crane and places them on your roof ridge).
- I told Jeff, the salesman, to take out the attic fan and we would go with the ridge vent on the top level of our split level house. Nearing completion, I noticed the top level did not have a ridge vent so I contacted Julio (owner) who then got the attic fan removed and ridge vent installed before the crew left.
- the 2 box vents were not replaced. The existing ones appeared to have just been spray painted.
- a torn shingle on the edge was found and needed replacement
- a handful of nails was found in the corner of a gutter
- about 10 nails and shards of sheetmetal was found on the roof
- the antenna's coaxial cable was not re-secured
- a ridge vent's shingle was elevated - it had a screw in the ridge vent that needed to get further screwed in.
- my bird spikes I had mounted in a gutter guard was removed.
- despite their tarping to cover much of the perimeter of the house, I found more nails in the front and back yards (not sure if they used a magnet as they said they would- yes, the nails were magnetic - I tested)
-FYI: They didn't mention this in the front end, but if they replace more than 2 or 3 sheets of plywood, they will contact you because it can be a large expense. I had one replaced and it wasn't mentioned until the follow up visit.

- I spent at least an additional 5 personal hours spread over 5 days to coordinate and research all the issues mentioned above - and getting on the roof and in the attic as well as doing the communication in order for them to be resolved.

- The good - Julio (owner) made a visit the day of the job and apologized for the shingle mix up. He also came after I had mentioned the issues after the job was "completed", to personally make right the issues.

Final thoughts- Everyone needs to do their due diligence regardless of who you hire. Inspect the work as best as you can. It makes me wonder what would have happened had I NOT checked all these things. Regardless, I'm glad Julio wanted and did make things right.

We called around to multiple roofing companies in the area decided Ex Home Solutions offered the best price and products for our house. We had one room of the house where we couldn't figure out if we had serious mold issues or what was going on- Ex Home Solutions helped us figure out it was the roof boards and it fixed the issue. We are super pleased with the results (we had them replace our whole roof too) and Julio has been really helpful whenever we've had questions or even needed help afterwards with another small roofing issue that was unrelated to their original work- he was still willing to help which was really appreciated. I have recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.

My experience with Ex Home Solutions, Inc., Involving my roof replacement was extremely pleasant and resulted in a great finished product. My dealings were primarily with an officer of the company, Jeff Brown, who met with me and my wife at our home and throughly reviewed all aspects of the project. The resulting work was a finished product in 2 days with a new attic vent ( it runs the length of the house at the eve) that looks great, a clean yard (they had someone assigned to that job on a full-time basis) and very satisfied customers.

EX Home Solutions replaced the shingles on my roof, did minor repairs, and replaced my gutters. They did an outstanding job. The price was reasonable (I compared several quotes before I chose EX Home Solutions). They performed the work a week after we signed a contract. They completed the roof in less than a day, and did the gutters a couple of days later in a few hours. They cleaned up completely after themselves (no nails or mess on my lawn). Julio and his hard working crew installed new Hardie Board siding. Jeff was my first point of contact. He came to my house, explained the entire process, answered all questions, provided samples, and prepared a proposal which was approved and signed by the owner Julio. All of the crew were here at 7:00 AM sharp every day. They put in several long days including the day it was in the 90s a couple of weeks ago. On that day they worked from 7AM until 6 PM. They were always professional and courteous. The quality of their work was outstanding. The siding is a huge improvement to my house and it requires minimal maintenance. Julio came by the house periodically during the project and did a walk through with me to ensure I was satisfied with everything. Excellent experience with Ex Home Solutions!! Our roof was in bad shape, had started leaking and we discovered that the wood beneath some of the edges was rotting. The sales manager, Jeff Brown, was extremely responsive and helpful; he helped figure out exactly what services we need to fully repair our roof while being cost effective at the same time. Ex Home Solutions replaced our whole roof, including any rotting edging, and we have not had any problems since. They were extremely professional, meticulous, clean and quick ( completed install in about a day/two). In addition, I received several quotes before committing and Jeff made sure we had a very fair price ( much better than other quotes we got).

Based on our roof replacement project completed in November, I highly recommend EX Homes Solution as a reliable and cost-effect company. I deal with legal and contractual issues as part of my job and have no prior knowledge or affiliation with this company. I waited 6 months to complete my review to account for any material defect. Since this is a fairly new install, maintenance experience is not part of my review. However, thus far the roof installation is working very well.

Because of COVID, I decided to request a large number of proposals, 12 in total. My review included multiple Internet sites describing past performance on roof projects. I also check the BBB for past complaints. I evaluated the oral presentation and the written proposals. I used a spreadsheet to compare details such as cost, materials, product warrant, and labor warranty, reducing the number of companies to 6 firms. From these, I selected EX Home Solutions as the top contender. I met with the sales manager (Mr. Jeff Brown), to verify in writing the company’s commitment to their proposal. As a final step, I requested written proof of insurance and bond documentation and contacted the county to independently verify the company’s license and standing.

After I awarded the contract, we selected a start date. EX Homes Solution employees came on time and completed about 2,800 square feet of roof in three days. They protected the plants and grounds around each work area. They perform a complete perimeter clean-up each day of work and maintain communications with me throughout the process. In addition to a foreman, the company owner (Mr. Julio Martinez) visited our home on both days of the project. One segment of the project required materials in very limited supply. The company disclosed this ahead of time and kept me informed as to the progress of the order. Ultimately the material was received, and the last segment of my project was completed to my full satisfaction.

Overall, the installation performed by EX Homes Solution was great. I give this company an "A" and, based on my experience with this installation, I have no reservations in offering this recommendation. I do strongly recommend that homeowners learn online about the process and products before they reach out to roofing companies. I did and the research helped me evaluate the companies and review the final product provided by EX Homes Solutions.

Their initial presentation was excellent, including a vast array of sample tiles offered. The pricing was competitive. And the actual installation, over 2 ½ days, was smooth as silk. I hired Ex Home to replace the roof on my mother’s house last fall. Julio, the owner, is an all-around nice guy and a pleasure to work with. He Is everything you want in a contractor – a master of his trade, cordial, professional and trustworthy.

I recently worked with Julio for a roofing fix for a patio overhang. There was a large hole in the previous roof and after discussing the options, we decided to simply put a new roof on the patio rather than patch the hole. Julio gave me the pros and cons to all the options, and talked me through what fixes he recommended. Of three estimates, Julio was both the most affordable as well as easiest to work with. He listened to my concerns and worked with me on my requests. Prior to signing the estimate we decided to modify the roofing material from shingle to flat and while more expensive, it was the better method. I would call Julio first for future issues. Julio and his crew were great! I found the pricing to be very fair while they did a quality job in a timely fashion patching a roof hole/leak. Julio was extremely straightforward and a straight shooter. Even though I needed my gutters repaired and he only does gutter replacement, he actually provided my an estimate to replace the system that was 30% lower than what another contractor provided me just to REPAIR the gutters. He also explained to me the root cause of the gutter issue, that we don't need a new gutter system, and recommended we install a gutter guard/helmet. Mind you, he lost out on potential business since he only installs the gutter guard/helmet as part of installing an entirely new gutter system. I found that to be very honest on his part and as a result, would highly recommend him if you need any of the services he provides. My fiancee and I are very pleased with the outcome on many levels!

This roofing contractor, and all of the men working for him, are exceptionally professional and hard-working. His roofing repairs for us, including holes in the roof, and building a whole new chimney (due to wind damage) came in at a reasonable (but not cheap) price, and the quality of workmanship was top-quality. Julio Martinez, the President, was thorough in his explanations, before, during and after the work, and answered all of our questions with patient reassurance. We never for a minute doubted his high standards and honesty. The quality of the finished product is outstanding. Highly recommended!
