Upon purchasing a lakefront lot, we did a lot of searching for and interviewing builders to build our future retirement home. We chose Ellis, for several reasons, they have dedicated sub-contractors that have worked with them for decades, they have a family environment, and lastly, when finalizing everything, I told Steve that I had a guy for everything where we are from and was entrusting him in building us a nice home, Steve responded with “Oh, we will build you a nice home.” They delivered. Kyle did a great job managing the job keeping me abreast of the progress with pictures and calls. They continue to be a great resource for needs to get odd jobs done around the house. Highly recommend the team at Ellis.

Ellis Homes (at the time Craftsman Homes) built our home in 2021while COVID (and material shortages) were at their height. Our home was delivered on time, and it was built with quality. Our home was the first that Kyle was the supervisor for and he kept us up to speed on everything that was happening. We were only able to visit our build every 2-3 weeks during construction, but Kyle always sent pictures when progress was made. We will be in our home here for 4 years right after Labor Day and have welcomed many potential Ellis customers in to see the quality work that Ellis Custom Homes has dome

Just built a house with them and are very pleased. Steve and Kyle went out of their way to help us in the building process and made it a very smooth and easy process. We selected one of the plans they already had and were able to customize it to our liking and needs. We wanted to stay within a specific budget and were easily able to do so even with adding a few desires on to the plan. The building process itself went as expected as well and we were able to stay stress free. We are thankful to the entire team at Ellis Custom homes. We have been in our house for 2 months now and it feels like home. We are blessed.

Steve, Kyle and Michel were great partners to work with in building our home. They were detail oriented and ensured the building process stayed on track. The build quality was matched with the workers used among all the trades who were professional and understood the task at hand. There were no short cuts, and everything fell in place as we went through the process. He comes highly recommended by my standards. I would work with his crew again anytime.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
