We looked at a lot of websites trying to decide on a company to replace our deck. Construction Marketing LLC was not easy to find googling “deck builder,” but what a lucky find it was. Eric was good to work with. He sent drawings and plans, and he brought plenty of samples of materials to choose from. He knew the products and helped us see what the finished project would look like. Eric was always quick to respond to calls and emails. Jason was the project manager. He saw to it that demo was completed quickly and carefully. We are impressed at the detail and craftsmanship. I would like to take a moment to commend Construction Marketing Inc. for a job well done and the thoughtfulness they take in providing for their clients.

We have contracted them in the past, but on one occasion, we contracted them to install a ground level deck on the back of our house. The deck was completed, and we were very satisfied with the results however, within a few years, it became apparent that something was wrong because the flooring started to sag. Construction Marketing Inc. came out to investigate and discovered that the Joists were rotting away. It was specified in the contract to use ground contact wood, but somehow the wood used was mis-marked as ground contact wood. The obvious fix was to replace the deck, so Mike and Construction Marketing Inc. decided that even that it was not of their fault for the wood being mis-marked that they would replace the deck at no charge to us. They removed the old deck and replaced with a new concrete patio with the same professionalism that we have come to expect, at great expense to them. We are completely satisfied and love our new patio. I would like to thank Mike and Construction Marketing Inc. for their efforts and would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of doing a home improvement project. Mike and his team recently completed two jobs at our home. Both turned out beautifully. The first was reconstruction of the decks using latest composite technologies. The tasks, that were very intricate included the upper deck with walkout from kitchen and master bedroom, a lower deck with rain protection, walkway to the dock, and connecting steps. The change in the level of light and usability of the new decks is a dramatic enhancement of our property. They also did a remodel of our Master bathroom. The listened to our vision and pointed us to places for selecting the tile, flooring, and fixtures we envisioned. The result is a perfectly sized walk-in shower for our space, coordinated shower tile and vanity countertop, and a floor that enhances/highlights the looks of the new shower and vanity. We enjoyed working with C&M and highly recommend them not only for the quality of their work but for their professionalism - Mike maintained regular communication at each stage of our projects and responded quickly whenever we had questions. Their cost estimates were on target and the work was completed within the anticipated time frame.

Really appreciate the professional job that Construction Marketing did on our deck and landscaping project. Only complaint was the time the project took (2 1/2 months) relative to the expected time frame. However, they were very responsive to feedback along the way and communicated effectively about delays.

Construction marketing did a ~1000 sq ft combined addition plus remodel of our house at Smith Mountain Lake, that included raising a large section of the roof to add a clerestory cathedral shed roof. They guided our original design from a more expensive gable design to the shed roof, achieving significant savings. Plus they identified an additional renovation feature we overlooked that was a very wise decision for the project. They were flexible on the scope of work allowing us as DIYers to do much of the interior finishing work to stay within our budget. Their outer shell construction quality was excellent and followed accurately the unique structural requirements from our architect and engineer. Our only area of dissatisfaction was with some quality of the work by the siding subcontractor, but CM addressed our
concerns. We’ve recommended them already to others in our neighborhood looking to do renovations.

We had a very good experience with Construction Marketing for our deck replacement. Eric Lawhorn met with us several times to go over options for replacing the original deck and adding a pool deck. He was very helpful with ideas and showing deck and rail possibilities. The plans were drawn by Dustin, who provided exactly what we were looking for. Construction actually began two weeks before the date we were told. The lead builder, Chris Ren and his helper Ned Warren, did a great job and built a quality deck and asked the right questions about how we wanted certain things done. They were very meticulous and precise with the construction and we appreciated their attention to detail. While it took a little longer to finish the project than we expected, we got a high quality deck that looks great. We are very pleased. We will certainly consider using this company for future renovation projects in our home.

Construction Marketing replaced our existing wooden deck with Trex. They were able to use fewer posts so that our view is greater. The workers were very courteous and answered all my questions. They cleaned up after the job. They were very flexible as we added more to the original job. I wish we would have done this years earlier.

We had the Construction Marketing team bid and do the work on our dock at Smith Mountain Lake. It was a major renovation with a lot of different aspects that included electrical, woodworking, and cabinetry. We had the ceiling installed, removed the boat slips, replaced the decking with Trex, boxed in the columns, lighting and fans installed and a bar with appliances and kegerator put in. They were one of the more costly bids but based on our interactions and seeing some of their other work, we had confidence in them and decided they would be the ones we went with.

Due to the COVID crisis, it took longer to get materials and crew in place than our original schedule, however, the work they did was fantastic. The decking required a lot of precise cuts and detail work and the project foreman, Jason, and his team did a great job. Of particular concern was the integration with both our irrigation system (the pump is in the attic of the dock) and the wireless system for the speakers and they offered creative solutions which have been well-implemented. Throughout the process they were very sensitive to avoid damaging landscaping and grass and always cleaned up after their work each day.

Any issues that came up were dealt with quickly and efficiently. For example, when materials were delayed and wouldn’t make a schedule deadline we set, the job foreman, Jason, jumped in a truck and drove to the plant in North Carolina where they were being stored and brought them back himself. I was pretty impressed with that. Jason played a key role in making sure everything not only met my expectations but exceeded his own high standards. I can attest to the fact that Construction Marketing made every effort to make sure the job was done the way we wanted it. I was happy with how things turned out and had them do another major renovation for us as well.
