Our home has mini splits installed by Duncklee at a cost of over $17,000. When they all stopped working we called Duncklee to repair them. The technicians from Duncklee told us the units were all installed improperly, by Duncklee and they were unsure how they ever functioned based on the poor installation. They charged us $472 for this information and gave us a verbal quote of $1800+ to 'maybe' fix the problem, and left us with all the units still not working.

We called and emailed Duncklee, trying to get clarification on how they would remedy this situation, since their own admission states it was their poor wormanship that caused them not to work. Not only were our requests ignored but we never received any paper work or receipt for the 'work' that was done. This company is not reputable. Any company that ignores customer contact and doesn't stand behind their work/products is NOT a good company. Hopefully they will respond to the Better Business Bureau.

Our many decades-old AC/central heating unit broke down. Not only did the Duncklee team replace everything at a great price, they also went above and beyond to help our child with allergies. Both the built-in humidifier and the heavy duty allergen filter have been extremely helpful in keeping our son healthy.

Duncklee was amazing to work with. From the first quote when Paige came out to look at the house and the set up we wanted all the way through to Oscar getting everything installed with absolutely no disruption to our day to day, and it only took a couple of days. Absolutely easy from start to finish, and amazing education on options and available local and federal rebates for our area that made the cost comparison between having the experts doing it and DIY a no-brainer to go with Duncklee. Highly recommend.

Had them come out for annual maintenance on our mini splits. They estimated 1hr for each blower. One guy shows up, slowly removes the air filter and washes it off with my garden hose. There's no way he can stretch this into a 5 hour job. Then another guy shows up, they slowly wash my filters together and joke around. I get a bill for over $1,000 for 2 guys to wash off filters. Never called them back.

One A/C zone failed, midsummer, ahead of visit in 2 weeks from 8 relatives. Duncklee got a repair person to us in 2 days, only to find that the unit needed to be replaced. Technician measured spaces, found only limited options, and it looked like no time for a replacement.
As longtime customers of Duncklee (split system in prior home - very pleased), even we were surprised by how well this is being handled. Needed replacement was ordered ahead of my signing contract, paying deposit, and was expedited in order to get the equipment in time, rescuing us from having four little kids and their parents exposed to extremely hot summer weather/humidity.
The project was completed in two days and went perfectly. (They anticipated this, so started four days before our family's arrival). An earlier technician, TC, had speced well, helping the company find a system that fit into a very tight space. The installation team, headed by Justin, was remarkably respectful of our home and two resident cats who sought to be "helpful", but weren't. They checked to make sure everything worked and was clean before leaving, even adding that if anything does go awry, don't hesitate to call. Whole team was pleasant as well.

Duncklee installed a new York a/c unit at our home . Did great job . Very well run professional company. Their technicians that service our home are all experienced and do great job .

We got our mini splits installed back in the fall of 2022 and since then I have gone back-and-forth about whether or not I should leave a review of our experience. But, seeing as we are still experiencing problems to this day, I’ve decided it is worth it so that no one else whines up in our situation. When we first reached out to Duncklee, everything was great and Paige was very helpful. After doing a walk-through of our house together, she quoted us 5-6 units for the whole house, one in each room. It was a little bit more than we wanted, so we wound up just purchasing three mini splits (one for our bedroom living room/kitchen and a room that at the time was our future nursery). Fast forward to install (which was scheduled and then canceled late the day before or the morning of 2 to 3 times), the technicians finally get there only to inform us that two of our upstairs bedrooms (one of which was the nursery) could not accommodate the mini splits due to there not being space on the exterior wall? This was extremely frustrating especially when we were told that the entire house could have mini splits. Thank goodness we only bought three instead of the five that she originally presented to us. So, we had to settle for an install of the third mini split in a random separate room that it could fit in and to this day, we still have to use a window unit for our nursery, which is what we were trying to avoid in the first place. Install after that major debacle went well, but then we also learned that we could not even use our mini splits because Duncklee failed to mention that we needed to set up an electrician to fully wire them. So we had to wait another week or so until we could arrange for an electrician without any coordination support from Dunklee. Finally we got our mini splits up and running. About a month after install, we noticed the outdoor condenser making a strange noise so we called Duncklee to see if they could come and check it out. They said yes, but that they would charge us a $200 fee if after their inspection, nothing was wrong with it. We thought this was extremely strange (especially since they had only been just installed), and fortunately, my husband was able to solve the problem himself. Finally, this year when my daughter started experiencing some health issues, we discovered that our mini splits are full of mold and they should be getting serviced and cleaned 1-2 times a year. This was never communicated to us by Duncklee. I actually spoke with a friend who went with a different company for their mini splits and she said that the company they went with has been coming out yearly ever since their install to do just that. So, long story short, please keep these things in mind if you choose to work with this company. We certainly will not ever again and advise our friends to seek out other alternatives as well.

Excellent customer service! During the last heat wave, our AC would not come on. Barb immediately made calls to customers that did not have such a dire need for service in order to get us an earlier appointment than the maintenance call we originally had scheduled. We are up and running and very grateful to Jonathan and team!

Duncklee installed Mitsubishi heat pump minisplit system at my home. The system has worked great since it was installed 6 months ago. It'll be great to use the system to cool the house when it gets really hot this week. No more window airconditioners to lug around and install - my back is very happy for that!

Installers did a nice job and were very curteous, attentive & respectful.

Guys were very nice and professional and our service was prompt for our replacement unit. We have used Duncklee for our heating and air for 14 years and they are always great.

I was a little disappointed in the amount of legwork I had to do , specifically I had to go before the Historical Commision twice to get their signoff and I had to go to the townhall to pay the permit, hence the 4 stars. To be fair I do not believe they are the only contracters that leave this to their customers although a neighbor did not have to deal with this for her recent HVAC install.
However I could not be more impressed with the professionalism and competence of the installation crew of Noah and Jason as they addressed the challenges of installing on an older home and having to adjust the original installation specs. Their communications relevent to their progress and our endless questions were outstanding. Highly recommended.

We had Dunklee service our system. We were caught off guard with how high the price per hour was. So we made a review to inform the public about this. Dunklee response to our comment was sharing our private information. I will not trust them again and am scared for my family now that people have full access to our personal information.

A well run company with happy capable employees. Just when I needed it Duncklee Heating & Cooling restored my faith and trust in human beings! It is a treat to experience an employer who respects their employees and in turn the employees respect the employer. It is obvious they love what they do because they do it well. From the customer's perspective these folks are highly recommended.

Using Duncklee was absolutely fantastic! Jon was so professional as well as personable. He walked me through the entire process and although we had some hoops to jump through as this was for our 2nd home, he was very accommodating. The only note that I had was that I didn't know we needed to hire an electrician until the day we needed one. If I had known earlier in the process I could have coordinated and scheduled accordingly. Luckily one was available and get the work done in a timely manner. We really enjoyed our experience with Duncklee.

My 40+ year old furnace wouldn't heat the house when I started it this fall. Duncklee Cooling & Heating provided a reasonable estimate, and replaced my old furnace with a new Thermo Pride unit. The installation technicians arrived on time and performed a prompt installation. The furnace works great with no issues. Duncklee was great to work with. Beware of this company ! I had the misfortune of giving DUNCKLEE HVAC
a try, big mistake. I've been working with contractors for years never experienced such poor customer service. I called to have this company give me a quote on a new heat pump and air handler. OWNER REFUSED TO COME OUT AND EVALUATE MY HOUSE SAID HE DID ONE ALL THE SAME. THE DAY HIS CREW CAME OUT THEY INSTALLED THE UNITS, TOLD ME THERE WAS A LEAK IN MY LINE SET, COULDN'T DO ANYMORE. THEY ASKED TO GET PAID, SAID THEIR JOB WAS DONE. THEY WERE MORE INTERESTED IN GETTING TO A SOFTBALL GAME. I TRIED TO REACH THE OWNER, HE WOULD NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. HE HAS HIS OFFICE STAFF SCREEN HIS CALLS AND REFUSED TO CALL ME BACK. ONCE THEY HAD MY MONEY THEY COULD CARE LESS. THIS COMPANY WANTS QUICK IN AND OUT JOBS THAT DONT REQUIRE AND THINKING. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER WHEN SHETUCKET PLUMBING WARNED ME NOT TO USE THEM. IF YOUR THINKING OF USING THIS COMPANY THINK AGAIN! I am shocked he's still in business!

Duncklee Cooling & Heating did a quality and professional job on installing our Ductless heating and cooling system. Our sales representative, Paige Remmert was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. She listened to our needs and coordinated the job. Paige organized the rebates through the town which other companies would not. I would highly recommend them.

I submitted an internet inquiry and have left two messages at the office to have someone contact me for a new heating/AC unit at my home in Stonington. No one has responded. I reached out to two other companies who called me back same day and had quotes to me within two days. To make matters worse when I inquired online it must have added me to their email list so now I get spam mail from them when they couldn’t bother to call me back….

This is a top notch company that takes care of their customers. They installed a new ac system in my home and it takes care of the cooling in the summer. Their service department is great also.

I purchased a peplacement heat pump and air handler from Duncklee. The instalation was very professional and completed in one day. Although the unit was delayed due to supply issues, they kept me informed about the procurement difficulties they were facing. All in all a very positive experience.

Originally the company was great
Well 2 years later I have a split system that needs work and I called them to to service the system cause it wasn't working right. After quick troubleshooting and for an hour of work he gives me a 292.00 bill. Because I reset the system there were no longer error codes so I literally paid 292 dollars for a professional to tell me it's fine call back if you need anything. Won't use them again. Not even sure how to use warranty at this point.

Call around if you want an honest company

Duncklee installed a new high-efficiency furnace in my home, along with a smart thermostat. They did great work and were very professional and knowledgeable. And when I had questions afterwards, they responded right away and were happy to help.

Duncklee Cooling & Heating's team removed my oil furnace, electric hot water heater, and an old central A/C and installed an LP Gas furnace, LP tankless hot water heater and a new central A/C unit. Needless to say there was a LOT of work to be done, and the team (Jason, Noah and Malcolm) were the ultimate professionals! They were very knowledgeable about every aspect of the installation process and continually updated me every step of the way.

This pandemic caused a national shortage of HVAC equipment, and Jonathan Duncklee was always so gracious in keeping me informed of the estimated delivery/installation date for this project.

This company has my ultimate respect and I STRONGLY recommend them to anyone!

I was very impressed by the service technicians’ attention to detail to ensure that the installation worked properly and was aesthetically pleasing. My wife and I are extremely happy with the workmanship and A/C unit. We highly recommend Duncklee to all of our friends and family.

Duncklee installed a sophisticated heating/AC system that enabled us to override an outdated and inefficient system that existed in a house we bought. Jonathan Duncklee was accessible and answered our questions in a way that made the installation and workings understandable to lay people. I would recommend Duncklee and would use them again.

We have a Mitsubishi split system and after issues with the original installing company I gave up and called Duncklee. It turns out the other company is not Mitsubishi diamond certified. Duncklee is and after their work I can see the difference.

They responded quickly to emails to get a rough idea of the system before they made the on site visit. The technician was on time and quickly discovered the problem, the compressor lines were leaking. He came to show me, I have no idea how the other company missed it. He put some coolant back in as a temporary fix and had to come back for a full afternoon a week later.

After he fixed the leak he flushed the system to get any water out. He then inspected the rest of the system. He fixed the large unit after some disassembly and now it works great. It's been 2 weeks, no sign of anything leaking and everything is working like new.

Our business recently had Duncklee furnish and install a Mitsubishi Mini-Split System with heat pump and air conditioning. Jonathan was very knowledgeable and patient with all of our many questions. The installation was seamless and the installers were respectful of working in our office during office hours. Could not have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Duncklee to anyone looking to upgrade or replace their system.

Duncklee installed Mitsubishi 6 mini-splits in my house this month. It was a large and complicated job. The men who did the work were terrific. They always arrived on time, were respectful, worked hard all day and were a pleasure to have around. It was hot as hell when they were doing the work. They wore masks and maintained distance from my family members at all times. Best of all they did a great job and in the midst of a terrible heat wave and a pandemic we are cool and happy.

I did not realize that this company charges you a $45.00 trip fee in addition to your other charges/cost. The service technician was knowledgeable. He said I needed to replace a belt otherwise my central air conditioner was in good condition.He did not have the belt in his truck. It would cost me an additional $195.00 plus the cost of the belt for him to come back to replace the belt. To replace the belt takes approximately 15 minutes. Highway robbery. Would not use this company again.

The Duncklee serviceman who installed our new central AC system was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We were extremely impressed with the Duncklee service.

Replaced our window air conditioning units with ductless system. These are great! Pricing was extremely competitive. Installation was smooth and professional. Before leaving, installers cleaned up and spent time to make sure we understood fully how to use. Units are quiet and temperature is more consistent than our window units were. Highly recommend the ductless heat & air conditioning units and strongly recommend Duncklee Cooling & Heating to install them.

Jim described the operation of the remotes in simple terms and was patient with our learning curve. Later, Jon answered my questions on how to properly operate the units. Excellent experience with sales and installation crew of my Mitsubishi Hyper Heat system. The installation crew even answered all my questions (and I had a LOT of questions) during installation. Finished system looks and performs better than expected. Would highly recommend Duncklee.

Edit 11/4/22: Unfortunately I must update this review. The brief summary is that I made the wrong choice going with a Hyper-Heat system. I should have chosen a more basic system that did not require a branch box, and just continued to use the wood stove when it got really cold. Anyway, the full story is the system was installed on January of 2020. In December of 2020 I noticed a leak coming from the branch box. Duncklee diagnosed it as an issue with one of their connections to the branch box and fixed the problem at no cost to me. Roughly 20 months later, the system wasnn't cooling well during heat waves and I noticed a leak from the branch box again, similar to the first. This time Duncklee determines that there was an internal failure in the branch box itself. The branch box was covered under warranty, but the labor to remove/install it was not. I knew this was going to be a cost to me, so was not surprised. I was, however, surprised that all 20 pounds of coolant had to be replaced. That came to roughly $1,650! When the system was brought back online, the tech did a quick check to make sure it was working. We both took IR temp readings of the interior unit coils, and both got readings between 55 and 60 degrees. He said that was fine, even though I couldn't see how that could possibly cool effectively. But I'm not a HVAC tech, so I took him at his word. So the first warranty repair came to $3,150... About 4 weeks later the system isn't working well again, so they send out a different tech to diagnose. He determines that the compressor has failed. Part of his determination came from him getting readings of the coils operating between 55 and 60 degrees. He says they should be 35-40 degrees... So he puts in an order to replace the compressor. The following week they tell me that the compressor won't be in until mid-November at earliest. Not a big deal because things have cooled off for the season. Get a call today telling me that the compressor won't ship from the factory until late December, meaning I'll be lucky to have the system operating by late January. This warranty repair will cost me $850 in labor and most likely another $1650 in coolant. Meanwhile I now have to acquire a woodstove and about 3 cords of wood to heat my home from now until then. So that's another cost I'm taking on because of this system. So in summary, other than the first tech giving me incorrect info about coil temp operating ranges, Duncklee has been very good to deal with. It's the Hyper-heat system and it's branch box that I can't warn people enough about. When they work, they are great. But when they fail, the costs will eat up years of savings that this system has over other systems. I will have put more than $5,500 into warranty repairs when this is done. That will take 7 to 10 YEARS to recover in heating cost savings, assuming there are no further failures during that time.
