Very pleased with the staff and experience we had at DeYarman CDJR in Ames! They had exactly the Wrangler I was looking for and very knowledgeable about the jeep products. I would definitely refer friends and family here. Ask for Gage.

Bought a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It has an electrical problem . I called the dealership and was put on hold for 15 minutes first off. Then after I explained what was going on with the Jeep the service tech informed me their service dept is not taking any appointments until four weeks from now. Terrible service!

Service Dept is lacking! 4 oil changes in a row I have made an appointment for a specific time. Show up 15-20 minutes early and still takes over an hour and half at least before they even start on a simple oil change. I would change the oil myself but I have powertrain warranty for life which requires that they change the oil. I live out of town so I make appointments to try to be time efficient.

2-3hr for an oil change is ridiculous.

This place is wack, I went somewhere else and got the EXACT car that I wanted for the price I wanted ! Salesman "Joel" didn't even try. Customer LOST! I was actually lost months ago when they switched ownership and I had to find out by just showing up , they also didn't help me with the situation I had going on that time as well. Please do better for the ones you DO still have.

Poor Sales Experience

I am writing this complaint because I believe DeYarman CDJR Ames has engaged in practices that are unethical, and I don’t want others to have to experience this. The issue I am referring to is the dealership’s misleading information regarding the vehicles they have for sale. They’re unwilling to work with the customer, or are not open to negotiations. They also lack knowledge about the vehicles, which I think is inexcusable when they’re trying to sell them to customers.

However, my first and primary desire is that they improve their practices and stop misleading customers or making them feel like they are in a situation with no recourse. I don’t think they are alone in their experience with this particular dealership.

Sales consultant Joel Allison, has persistently contacted us for follow-ups. He and his manager have repeatedly informed customers that they are misinformed and that the MSRP for their vehicles are not negotiable anywhere else. They have also claimed that all dealerships are the same.

Well, congratulations, gentlemen, you have successfully avoided another car deal. We are extremely happy with our new vehicle, which was purchased 2 days after our conversations with DeYarman. We dodged a bullet, unfortunately, I know others weren't so lucky!!

Sold us a vehicle that we have had nothing but problems with and come to find out it already had an engine replacement with under 56k miles. They never disclosed this to us. This place is sketchy at best and dishonest. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a dealership. Go somewhere else.

Recently bought a 2019 dodge ram from them that they claimed was a certified vehicle. Within a day of having it the engine light came on. It was sent back to them to fix. Again got it back and came on within a day or two. They have now had it a week and we are just finding out that the vehicle had its engine replaced which was never disclosed upon purchase. We also asked for the Carfax report 3x and were never given it. We asked to cut toes and just switch vehicles back after the first issue and they denied us that. Would never buy from them again.

I’m actually embarrassed to admit i wasted 3 hours there to get schmoozed. I had inquired about my car trade in about a month ago. They told me they’d give me top dollar since my car is in high demand. After being hounded multiple times a day via phone calls, texts and emails, i decided to see what top dollar was. I’m not in the market to get a new car unless the price and deal is right. I should have known i was wasting my time when the cars they had me testing driving the salesman couldn’t even tell me the price. I was told it was employee pricing plus so i was thinking we’d get a decent deal when i told them my monthly payment. I also kept asking for what the APR would be with my credit (which is low 800) and they couldn’t answer that and price break downs to show the discounts were never given . Not only did they give me “poor” condition trade in on my car (it had a few door dings and nothing mechanical wrong and no rust, pristine condition) the car they were trying to sell me was anywhere from 1500-3500 more than market value (kbb with the vin number). And that was apparently employee pricing plus. They then tried to get me to buy a vehicle that doesn’t meet any of my wants even though my car has everything i want except higher highway miles. I can afford the huge monthly payment they finally presented to me with no discounts, but in this economy i wouldn’t do that. I told them i had to go pick up my toddler and had 15 mins and they just kept wasting my time! Honestly will not be going back there.

They work hard to sell you a vehicle. I bought used. In 6 months, needed tire sensors replaced, thermostat replaced, bushings on control arms replaced, shocks and struts replaced, and stabilizer bar links replaced. I believe their inspection is just to see if all the parts are there. They valued my trade at 5500.. I wanted blue book at 8k, said they were not going to make a lot of money off my trade. Was sold for 13k. I wont go back.

Not a reputable company. They OVERCHARGE for automobiles. Upper management does not follow through with what they state they will do. They wouldn't give me back the keys to my car until I agreed on a vehicle. They cheated me on my trade in. Please consider another dealership like WILSON TOYOTA.

Why are many folks reluctant to purchase a vehicle from a dealer? What makes a seemingly cringe worthy event into an enjoyable experience from beginning to end? The agreed upon price at the bottom of the contract surely has a whole lot to do with it. Equally important, I believe, is the staff involved with the transaction. I think it takes a dealer team click'n on all cylinders - the perfect mix of training, trust, authenticity, personality, and a little genuine humor. Deyarman proved they indeed have that pretty good team representing the showroom. Everyone shined; but none more than our sales representative, Paige Smith. From the moment she greeted me on the parking lot, to the follow up courtesy call after we picked up our new SUV; Paige exemplified what an ambassador of a company should portray. Miss Smith is a delightful person and a skilled professional member of the Deyarman sales force. You would do well to ask for her by name.

Brandon was cool. 16k for my ram with 43k miles, in total I paid 40k for my 19 Rebel with 67k miles. Got home, running boards are rusted through, cracked tail light assembly, crooked tail gate from whatever was hit. Asked if the transmission and transfer case had been flushed since it was over 60k, no answers, even though they can check the carfax. So if I have to do it that's another 1k, plus new running boards. Mainly my fault for letting it go, but at least give someone a good deal while you're trying to screw them. I love the truck, but man... I was told they couldn't negotiate the price of the truck at all, which is not true, because everywhere I looked stated the truck was worth 25 to 28k, but wanted me to change the price on mine. All in all, I should have took the truck back to Dale Howard of Iowa Falls, they would have been proud of how well maintained the truck was and gave me the deal I wanted. They let my father in law have it for NO interest whatsoever and no credit check just because it was a year old and they wanted it off the lot. Now looking further, this place is a scam. I looked at my paperwork with my wife and even after my 16k trade in, I ow 25k. Truck was on the lot for 33. no3 paperwork shows 40+k. How tf is that even fair? This place is worthless. Then I was charged 800 extra for Nitrogen THATS BEEN IN THE TIRES SINCE IT WAS ON THE LOT. I didn't ask for that! shoulda been a damn favor considering the couple k I have to put into it because they are cheap and wouldn't fix it when it was there ... NEVER again

If I could give this dealership 0 stars, I would. Don't be fooled by the 5 star ratings, DeYarman absorbed those positive ratings from Deery, who they bought out last year. Pay close attention to the recent reviews. My husband and I purchased a brand new Ram from Deery and had a wonderful experience. We went back last week and had the worst experience I've ever had at a dealership. Justin talked to us in a condescending tone, made us feel stupid for what we were trying to accomplish and was unwilling to discuss options. Less than 12 hours later, we were driving away from Bob Brown in Ankeny with a new vehicle and having accomplished our initial goal which Justin told us was an "unsolvable math equation". Save yourself the time and headache and avoid this dealership at all costs.

This dealer is new to Ames and gave me a call out of the blue to ask how my truck was doing it’s 7 years old and has 49k miles on it, so it’s doing great, had a CV axle replaced cause a torn boot by Deery of Ames. Deery said I had a shake cause I needed new tires after they did the repair but it never shook two weeks before the new axle and so long story short I got new tires …. And wow it still shakes so after DeYarman called me they said they’d love to fix that shake and it’d only be the total of $187 plus tax cause I still had two warranty’s that would cover it … so they take my truck in and balance the tires after I tell them 5 TIMES it’s NOT the tires … then I go to test drive the truck after that and they said they haven’t road force balanced the tires yet either so they’ll try that !!! I tell them the 6th time it’s not the tires and they tell me it’ll be thousands if they have to warranty the part and it’s not the part when the part is actually only max $150 so they’ll try to call people to get them into service if they can’t sell them a new car and then scam them in the service department! I love to give honest reviews and this dealer is off to a horrible start !

Well, every time you go and get an oil change the price goes up $10-$20. Every time is wrong so I will not be going back to that place for nothing. I told them they could shove their business up there rear end. And they don’t help people very well, and they are very pushy. All there therefore is the money not for their customers. I feel sorry for the old people that go in there because they take advantage of them real bad. I seen it today. it has really changed since they took it over to the worst. and I forgot the manager for today told me I hope you never come back here. Well, that’s not right.

Never buy a car here. Sales and service are great they just sell horrible cars. When your car stops working 6 months after purchasing new it’ll be in and out of service constantly. When I decided I didn’t want an unreliable POS anymore they didn’t buy it back. This dealership has only put me in more debt.

I went in to try and trade in my vechile and they kept trying to get me to ahree to a vechile that was double and triple and one even was 5 x the amount of milage on it then the one i was trying to trade. Every time we said no to one that was worse than the one i already own we would say it wasnt worth it and stuff and they would call us and tell us come look at another one that they wouldnt give much details about it until after we were there again and come to find out its worse then what i already own and they wasted our time going back down there for whT they knew was worse then what iwas trying to trade in a 20000 milage on what i own and they kept pushing 80000 milage and 100000 milage vechiles on us. So disgraceful

This was the wildest vehicle purchase i have ever experienced! Zach Blair, great salesman,listened to all of my concerns and desires for what I wanted, he delivered, The sales management team also listened and delivered, the finance team encountered many weird challenges placed by a lender ,they delivered and here we are with my new pickup! Gage helped us twice in two months-once purchasing a new car and once with s a used car. We have less than average debt so they worked feverishly behind the scenes in finance to help get our needs met. I honestly typically review a business if they could use improvement in one area or another but these guys are amazing. Curtis in service is personable and fun to work with. I called to set up an oil change and DJ was efficient and made me an appointment right away. This business is truly a five star!

Was not thrilled with my experience at DeYarman of Ames. To begin, we couldn’t even drive around the lot or even put our car in park before being flagged down by a salesman. Personally, we were hoping to physically see the car we were interested in on the lot by us driving around, before having to go inside and fill out paper work and talk to 2 different people before even seeing the car we were interested in. This also leads to my next point… I understand that the sales consultants are paid to be there, but it gets to a point where it’s too much. We were greeted by at least 8 different people within the first 15 steps in the building and the salesmen and manager were too pushy. I understand it’s a business, but we made it clear that our intentions for being there was for a test drive. Another negative was the lack of integrity this company has towards its customers. Because the sales team was so pushy, to kill some time, we had a consultant at DeYarman estimate the value of one of our cars. It’s a 2015 SUV, in excellent condition, with leather and heated seats, regularly serviced, and only has 30,000 miles on it… we were only estimated it to be worth $5,000. We know that the car is worth at least $10,000. My family and I were appalled to say the least, and this really sealed the deal on us not doing business with DeYarman in the future. The building was nice and the personality’s of those who we worked with were great, but our experience at DeYarman of Ames was very disappointing.

We had a great experience until the car we bought had mechanical issues in the first two weeks. They fixed a issue that wasn't an issue and ignored what it was brought in for. One day after same issue!! Now they want us to pay lots of money for their error when the codewas deleted off before we bought the car!! Was a 5 star for us now a 2. And we bought two vehicles from them. Smh

Unbelievable how greedy and unethical businesses and people can be. I have never been lied to and treated so poorly by an auto dealership before.

I was working with Joel Allison and submitted an application for an SUV i intended to purchase along with my co-signer. I sent him a picture of my license, paycheck stubs, and talked to the finance manager, Justin Saiz. I asked him specifically, “Do I need to put a deposit down on the car to hold it?” I was told I didn’t need to, but apparently I did because they sold the car out from underneath me last night. I’m still in shock.

My advice, stay away from this dealership at all cost.

I took my car in to the service department to take care of a few recalls. I had an appointment scheduled for a Monday morning, and when I took it in, I could see right away how disorganized they are. It took me at least five minutes to find someone to chat about my car with, and I had to remind them several times that I needed their shuttle service even though I had already confirmed this on the phone. I was told I would be able to pick it up that night, but got a phone call in the afternoon that it wouldn’t be ready until the next day. I didn’t receive a phone call to the contrary, so I went to pick it up Tuesday night. The people there had no idea if it was done or where my keys where— they literally asked me if I had a spare key fob, and I had to physically point out my car in the lot and find my own key. I luckily was able to pick out the key they failed to label, and was eventually informed they didn’t have the parts they needed in yet. I took my car home and called the next day for clarity— I got transferred and put on hold four times, and waited 20 minutes for an inconclusive answer. I was informed in the afternoon that they had the parts, so I took my car in that Friday morning. I also had them do some minor maintenance tasks (change a wiper blade and a taillight) because they quoted them to me, labor included, for super cheap (around $40– worth it to not deal with the hassle for me). I had to call Saturday morning to see if my car was done being serviced— apparently it had been finished Friday afternoon and they failed to inform me. This is only a two star review because the employee on the phone was kind and apologetic for all of the miscommunication. They charged me over twice as much as what they quoted me for, and when I got back in my car, it was completely ravaged inside. They had unplugged chords from the dashboard, dug through my center console and left things strewn about the driver’s and passenger’s seat, unfolded and threw around jackets and blankets I had folded in back. Their carelessness actually resulted in some of my personal property being destroyed, and I think a couple of my tools might be missing. The long timeline and extreme miscommunication were enough to make me not go back, but the complete disregard for my personal property made me want to warn other people.

To summarize: it took almost a week and several trips back and forth to get my car serviced, I was overcharged, and my belongings were carelessly destroyed. Very nice employees though.

Had perhaps the best experience buying a car this week with DeYarman Ames. Zach my salesman was knowledgeable in the vehicles we were looking at and most of all he was patient with my wife and I as we decided between the two vehicles which took a few days.
Smoothest process buying a vehicle I’ve ever had in my multiple car buying experiences.
No pressure from Zach or the rest of the team there at DeYarman and I really appreciated that aspect.

I would definitely not recommend this dealership. High-pressure sales, misleading information, lack appreciation for customers time, and following through with correct information to conduct transaction was extremely displeasing. Sales manager and owner are very high-pressure salesman with a lack of consideration, understanding the needs of the customer, and just trying to make an a dollar sale. Well, the salesman himself was very good and honest, the manager and owner take over and ruin the sales and ownership experience. While issues with a vehicle are taken seriously, due to the lack of professionalism by the dealership I do not feel the overall professionalism is standard at that location.

I had purchased tires and oil package from then Derry of Ames and now DeYarman, when I used one of my oil change packages they informed me that my rear tires needed replaced. When the service gentleman called to let me know he didn't know what the vehicle make or model of my vehicle. Told me since front wheel drive they left front tires on and did not rotate my tires. I explained in fact was not a Jeep or a front wheel drive and in fact I brought a Chrysler 300 rear wheel drive car in he told me he needed to look into why it was wrong info he gave me. 2nd part after speaking to service manager he informed me of bad tires. I explained all four tires were bought at same time from them. 80,000 mile tire and only had 20,000 on them. He checked warranty on tire and confirmed. Checked on manufacturing warranty only would pay 25% of tire replacement. Told me was difficult to warranty tires and said would get me good deal on in house prices. Told me would call with prices and was last time spoke. I have reached out and left messages but have not got any call back. I am giving one star due to employees not having a clue what they are doing and service manager not responding.

Update - the first experience was very good. But, since then, it has been very hard to get a hold of anyone. Nearly 3 months later and my vehicle is still not registered. I hit an animal a month after purchase, and the only way I could get the benefits of the warranty I bought through them was to pay extra to tow the vehicle from northern Iowa to Indianola. I tried to cancel my extra warranty, and that has not happened. If people would follow through with what they say and be easier to get a hold of by phone, I would not have to publicly announce these things.

Zach, Justin, Kris, Joel, and the team at DeYarmen worked really hard to get me into my first new vehicle! Zach made a great sales presentation. Justin and Kris worked tirelessly to get financing. Joel did a great job of preparing and delivering the vehicle and answering final questions.

The heater in my driver side seat was not working. Curtis Knoblock worked so hard on finding the cause. He tried replacing pieces and it didn't fix the problem. He tried replacing more pieces and trying different fixes suggested by Jeep technicians. He finally was able to fix the problem. I purchased my car here but moved out of state and needed some advice with repairs. Curtiss was still willing to help and said that I can call him any time for any questions. It can be intimidating for someone who doesn’t know much about cars but he was very nice to share his knowledge and help me!

Recently I went to Deyarman in Ames to look at some vehicles that I had seen on their website. I was looking for a place that would treat me the same as I was treated back home in Florida at our previous dealership. I was treated like I was family here and was made to feel at home. Zack talked with me and listened to what I was looking for and I purchased a 2023 Dodge Durango RTplus. The finance department done a terrific job getting me financed. I am very pleased with the effort everyone put in to make me feel accepted as a friend. It made this old southern boy very proud of everyone there that helped. The Durango was my fiancee’s birthday present. I will definitely go back when its time to trade again.

I been trying to get service done on my van for the past 2months and they keep telling me theres nothing wrong ...i tuck it to another place and theres is something wrong with my ban .....so i tuck it again and had some one from the Dealer to ride with me and he finally said whe were right there is something wrong ....so they make me an appointment and they said they were going to have a rental for me for that day i get there and they didnt have no rental car available so they tell me to go back afew hours later and no rental cars are available, so disappointed thats just sad
