Review of Des Moines Roof Royal

We are writing this review on behalf of our family after hiring Des Moines Roof Royal to repair tornado damage to our parents’ home in Greenfield, Iowa. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing due to incomplete work, workmanship concerns, and ongoing miscommunication.

Unfinished Work:
A ceiling fan in the sewing room was damaged during painting and stucco work. We ended up replacing it ourselves.

Wall textures around the windows do not match the rest of the interior.

Packing plastic was left on some windows and doors, and we had to disassemble parts of the doors to remove it.

Workmanship Concerns:
The garage structure raised concerns, especially after it was built over existing electrical wires from the alley, which led to visible smoke.

Hardwood floors had clear coat splatters on them.

Windows in different rooms were mismatched.

Laminate flooring and quarter round were installed unevenly or did not align properly.

Property Damage:
Several furniture surfaces and countertops had visible marks that appeared after being used during the project.

Roofing tar was found on the kitchen floor.

A ceiling fan’s glass cover was broken, and drywall in a bathroom was removed during the work.

Communication Difficulties:
When we raised concerns about the work, we often felt that our feedback was met with defensiveness rather than resolution.

Our parents have been contacted multiple times about the final insurance payment, which is currently in process with their mortgage company—outside of their direct control.

In recent days, people in our community have asked about the payment status, suggesting private details about the project may have been shared more broadly than expected.

Given the circumstances, we do not feel comfortable having Roof Royal return to the property. We would prefer a qualified third-party contractor to assess and correct the issues at no additional cost to our parents. This has been a stressful and emotional experience for our family, and we hope this review helps others make informed decisions.

We cannot recommend this company based on our experience.

Roof Royale and Chris were outstanding. They were prompt, easy to work with, and competitively priced. My expectations were exceeded!
