Absolutely thrilled with my new screened-in porch and my experience with Deck Creations. The team that worked on my project was efficient and did a fabulous job. They took less time than originally stated which was wonderful. I also appreciated the great communication from my Superintendent, Kevin Dunford. He was always so responsive and exhibited superb customer service overall. Highly recommend Deck Creations and I would use them again in a heartbeat!

We met with several companies to take on our backyard and ultimately landed on Deck Creations - very happy we did! We found their quote competitive and they were able to get to work faster than anticipated. Our sales rep (Don) even caught some details during our initial meetings that other reps had not in regard to structural design needs. Their preliminary drawings were detailed and descriptive - it made us feel comfortable and confident in the project before it even started. Great communication from both the client liaison (Jaimie) and our project manager (Cliff). They went out of their way to make sure we were happy and I really appreciate their hard work ...and our screened porch turned out better than we could have ever imagined! Highly suggest this team and would absolutely work with them again.

Deck Creations delivered exactly what we were looking for. They have a great crew of contractors who know what they are doing, and were very responsive on the inevitable hiccups that arise when you are undertaking a construction project.

Deck Creations is a great company with knowledgeable and professional people. They do quality work and use the best materials to have less maintenance for the homeowner down the road. Their communication with me throughout the entire project was excellent. I will refer them to my neighbors.

My husband wrote the below review a few days ago. Instead of taking accountability for their poor craftsmanship, Deck Creations had the audacity to call us and claim that someone must have vandalized our deck because it looks so bad.

We are seeking to retain an attorney today.

Please do not hire this company. I’m not sure what sort of comment they will leave on this review, but I can assure you it will be untruthful.

I’ve edited this post to include an email sent to Deck Creations on 7/30/23 which highlights the fact that we had serious concerns about the quality of their work last summer. It also highlights that the deck boards were ripped up multiple times by Deck Creations during construction. No vandalism has ever occurred.

I have done a ton of work with Deck Creations. This company is led by people of integrity that take pride in producing excellent quality for their clients.

Deck Creations is a fantastic place to work with. They are very welcoming and always attentive to all their employees. I most definitely recommend them to all my friends and family. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of it.

We had a challenging experience working with Deck Creations. Quality control was a major issue throughout the entire construction process. We continuously communicated our concerns to Deck Creations management and requested to speak with the owner of the company. The owner never spoke to us and the issues were not properly addressed. Unfortunately, our deck is a year old and it’s coming apart. We have both safety and cosmetic issues with the deck and patio. The staircase seams are pulling apart, deck boards are popping up, handrails and railings are coming loose, and a section of the patio is sinking. These issues are creating tripping hazards and other safety concerns for our young children. I never expected the deck and patio to be perfect, but I did expect it to be safe, level and well constructed.

We are currently engaging with Deck Creations to address these issues. Unfortunately, we are having the same challenges with the company’s lack of urgency. I’m hoping they will fix all of the structural issues with our deck sometime soon.

If you are looking for a company that prioritizes customer service and values their clients, then this is probably not the company that's going to make you feel like much more than a number. As much as I wish this wasn't true, it's my current reality. Deck Creations is currently onsite doing a two-story deck rebuild for my family and now halfway through the project, we are left feeling like the company sees us as nothing more than a dollar. I am hopeful the end project and interactions with the company moving forward will change my mind and this review. However, today as I sat on the phone with the owner Eric who doubled down to verbally tell me and my family that he didn't want to go out of his way and have his staff waste hours on finding a siding solution that matches the scope of the project unless we were sure that it was the option we would select, is not only heartbreaking, but a true lack of respect, value and plainly, poor and unacceptable customer service. To just put things into perspective, this is a fairly big project, so yes, we feel like we don't matter to them and as a paying customer, that's the last thing you want to feel. Then to add insult to injury, after telling the owner how you feel about not being a valued customer, only to have them 5 minutes later to confirm verbally to you directly, that they don't have time to send their (your) project manager to Sherwin Williams to confirm a color match can be provided for the siding their company is liable to replace....well, I'll let you be the judge on how you would feel as a customer.

We engaged Deck Creations after a significant search for contractors to redesign and build a new high-end deck and screened-in porch for our house on Lake Anna, Fisherman Cove. The work turned out fantastic - our guests are raving over the porch room, with cedar ceilings and posts, gas fireplace, and exquisite view of the lake. Kevin and his team were very open to collaborating, and I was able to have good input. This was a challenging project from a permitting perspective, and the DeckCreations guys managed that through some difficult negotiations. As some icing on the cake, we just had our family reunion here, 23 folks hanging out - one is a retired construction manager and home inspector and he was raving about the quality of the stone and woodwork and all aspects of the project. Kudos to Kevin, Daniel, and others who made this turn out so great - it is a showpiece of an addition to our house.

The entire project took 5 months, a new deck (while removing the old one), a screened in porch, a patio and a deck around my newly installed swim/spa. Deck Creations was wonderful with their communications and with taking in any and all changes that I wanted, even up to the last minute. Cliff Wright, the project manager was simply fantastic. He was onsite at least once a week, sometimes twice. He was very accommodating when it came to any issues or changes or questions I had.
Sidenote: they were a bit expensive, but in the end, the workmanship was worth it.

Our new deck is amazing with a beautifully constructed custom roof structure. We did timber tech for low maintenance and got the lights on the steps which I love. It happened quickly, too. I had people to reach out to and ask questions, a rep, Jaimie and Cliff, who were wonderful in letting me know where we were in the project.

They sent drafts, did the permits, set expectations, took care of the punch list items-- it was a full service job. The construction really is a work of art. I know we could have gotten a roof structure cheaper at lowe's to put on the deck and the company actually told me that so I would know all the options. But I wanted the roof integrated into the design and I'm really happy with that decision although it was more expensive.

My husband is an engineer and he was really impressed with the workmanship. They were not the cheapest or most expensive but I can say you will not be sorry you hired them to do your deck.

Replaced a large deteriorating pool deck and 24’ above ground swimming pool with a solid, and attractive, composite deck. Work was completed in a timely manner, and addressed discrepancies were immediately taken care of and repaired.

You want these people to build your deck. Polite, professional and friendly. First rate materials and first rate craftmanship, you just can't go wrong. They built a deck for my wife and I years ago and there has been no issue of any kind. When we wanted to have another built there was no question of who we would get to build it.

We had an amazing experience with Deck Creations! They helped transform an existing and unused deck area into one of our absolute favorite places. They delivered what we wanted on time and on budget. I highly recommend them!

Where do we begin? From the first meeting where we shared our ideas and thoughts for our new deck to the re iterations, feedback, education, ideas...Jaime M. and Cliff, the daily crew---everyone listened and respected our vision. They provided good ideas and feedback. We could not be more impressed with the daily work team and their attention to detail and cleanliness. Do not look any further, hire Deck Creations for your next project, they care about your home as much as you do.

Had Deck Creations build a three-season room with attached deck. We went with the EZ-Breeze windows and Timbertech Prime+ decking boards. As you can see by the pictures, we put in the white PVC railing with black aluminum balusters. We are very pleased with the work they did. Work started in December and was done by March 3rd due to a slight delay in delivery of the EZ-Breeze windows at no fault to Deck Creations. I would recommend Deck Creations to anyone who is looking to do a deck or 3 season room/porch.

The professionalism with Deck Creations has been superb. My. Husband and I Purchased a 16x16 screened in deck and a paver side patio area and I must say that both are absolutely beautiful. The builders arrived to our home everyday and worked from early morning to late evenings. Our contractor Cliff followed up with us almost everyday to make sure we were happy with our material choices or if we had any concerns about the project. I am someone who really pays attention to details and Deck Creations did just that, everything was perfect. My husband and I love our outdoor space. If you are searching for a reputable company and you want excellence, Deck Creations is your company.

Deck Creations was a pleasure to work with. From estimate to completion was only two months. They did everything they were supposed to do and we love the way our deck and patio look.

We were referred Deck Creations by someone who was very happy with their work and knew of others who had great experiences as well. This direct word of mouth gave us the confidence to use them. Excellent craftsmanship! They exceeded all expectations, stuck to their bid, transparent about the process, extremely responsive and respectful to use and our home; they clean up the jobsite at the end of every day. Our new Sunroom created a calming ambiance to our home that has become a part of my relaxation routine before and after work.

Their quality is top notch and the sophistication of the project was awesome! Their workers were very conscientious and the end product is a beautiful work of design and function. The 4 track windows are a wonder and offer both screens or windows for us so we can choose based on the weather for full view of either. We highly recommend them.

They built a new brick porch and paver walkway for our house just recently. We had to navigate some weather delays, but they were always responsive and professional.

This was not the experience or quality that I was sold on. Be ready to directly interface with their crews and explain yourself over and over and still have the project fall well short of even the most basic expectations.

All of the pictures I've attached to this review represent the current state of the project 8+ months after the start. This state is signed off and approved by them as meeting their materials and workmanship standards. I think that speaks for itself as this review is concerned.

This is 8+ months of back and forth:

The paver patio was laid 3 times and had crews working on it two other times. Once with the wrong dimensions that somehow got mixed up between our signed contract and the install, a second time that resulted in pooling water, and a third time that currently has pavers sinking over 1/2" only a few months after install and serious drainage issues in the yard (pictures).

The gabled roof was missing critical design pieces that once again differed from our design and signed contract.

The porch had serious finishing issues like completely loose footing accents that wrap the posts (pictures)

Misaligned siding, and a drooping bead board ceiling with holes around the recessed lights (pictures).

More than once the crews that come out to address the punch list left things in an even worse state that requires yet another follow up. Tools were left on the roof for months at a time and finally removed 8 months after the start of the project.

The main problem with all of this is that we had to follow up with them for all of this (7+ times and counting) and get them to come look. They are relying on us for quality assurance instead of holding themselves to the standards they sold the project to us with. At this point we just want them to live up to the standards they sold themselves on.

We had an existing deck that was under utilized and had always wanted to create a covered space. Deck Creations walked us through every step of the planning process and guided us to the best approach. Was very happy with their builder/crew who did the work. As with every construction build, there were some issues that came up, but Deck Creations were very responsive in making sure we were absolutely satisfied.

We had a great experience with the professionals at Deck Creations. From start to finish, the team was on point. Great communication throughout the process, professional, courteous, thorough. Quality work. Would definitely recommend.

Deck Creations created and installed a beautiful paver patio with sitting wall. We love the finished project and the crew was cordial, pleasant and professional. We would highly recommend Deck Creations to others.

We had a wonderful experience with Deck Creations. We had them build a screened porch off our back deck. Brand new construction. Working with them was easy, they took the time to figure out exactly what we wanted from start to finish.

In terms of cost, we had several bids. While they were not our lowest, they ran right in the middle price range wise. And in this case you definitely get what you pay for. The quality of work, materials they used, and the customer service made the experience less stressful and more enjoyable.

Can’t speak more highly of Deck Creations team and their level of professionalism they demonstrated throughout the process. We had them remove our deck and replace with a larger one using composite. The team put us at ease throughout the process from the showing of plans, touching base leading up to the project and when on-site. We are so happy with the end result and can’t wait to enjoy when the warmer weather arrives. I would highly recommend their services due to their quality craftsmanship and professionalism.

Another factor in my selection of Deck creations was how the treated me when I was doing my initial research and wanting an estimate. Other deck companies I reached out to would say, “will the man of the house be there” when they come out. They treated me professionally and it went a long way.

We are very pleased with our new deck. We replaced our 27 year old wooden structure from the ground up. The crew building the deck were very good. We had a couple of concerns during the project. However, they were taken care of much to our satisfaction. We will truly enjoy this new deck this year!

The proceed was great. We had input from the beginning and Deck Creations came back with a rendering and plans The crew respected the space and kept everything neat. Removed the old deck and built a deck with an open porch. Great finishing touches on the porch which made it unique. The whole process was outstanding.

They added a screened porch to our home. It was not an easy project and they figured a way to do it. They are responsive to concerns and stand behind their work.

We contracted with Deck Creations to build a patio. The work done was outstanding. Whenever we had a question it was responded to quickly. They did all they said they would do very efficiently and completed the job when they said they would. We are extremely pleased not only with the work but also in dealing with Deck Creations. Such an awful experience- make sure everything I mean EVERYTHING is written if you use them as they will just lie and say they didn’t say something they did. Also make sure they draw a good design or don’t hire them!!! Well really…just don’t hire them.
Don is awful. He will be nice on the first meeting snd after you sign wants nothing yo do with you. He will get his cfo to discuss with you so he doesn’t have to deal with it
Wrong materials bought!!! Even though they were on my contract. I could have sued and wish I did but didn’t want the hassle.
Wrong square footage done of my patio and not willing to just fix it!!! Only giving me a 600 credit for the sq footage and now I have to rebuild and spend 10k!!!
Broke my internet line - and did not put in the conduit they said they would to run the line and I still have a line in my driveway months later
Patchy work- left the space looking terrible with dirt mounds, messed up the turf too my playground, messed up my grass
Left my backyard a mess for months bc of a change order bc THEY screwed up

This company was great to work with, from the first consult call to completion of the back yard deck. All the products were of high quality , the contractors were professional, and they were responsive to any concerns that I had throughout the process; so much so that I have contacted them for renovation of the front porch.

Deck Creations and Don Weaver's team installed our Deck about a year ago. We are VERY impressed with the materials, workmanship, and professionalism with which the Installation was carried out. We had our under Deck door warped( Probably a too wet lumber). They just came out and installed the replacement, no questions or push back at all. Josh - their carpenter- did a great job- a gentleman, professional, talented carpenter and VERY precise. Deck Creations- a very classy company.

This team is awesome. The on-site manager, Chris S, is incredible and delivers what is promised. The owners, Don and Stella are true to their word and stand by the work. Top quality, dependable and professional.

Post Construction Update - I had an issue with a door about 1 year after the new room was installed by Deck Creations. They emailed me right back and had an employee here the day after my email and the door was fully fixed right away. Great Post Sale Service which is so rare! Thank you!

Deck Creations did an amazing job on my deck and patio. I really enjoyed working with Don on the design, and I was equally pleased with the crew. On a side note, they made it really easy to follow the project via their online web portal. It's rare that you find a contractor who's invested in the customer experience through technology like Deck Creations.

I had a composite deck built by deck creations and other companies came and gave quotes but found that deck creations was the most professional and efficient I was very pleased with the service my installers were very polite and extremely professional most important everybody communicated during the whole project I would recommend deck creations To my friends and family thank you again for a beautiful deck we are really enjoying it

Don and his team did a fantastic job creating our dream deck. Using Fiberon deck and Intex PVC railing this maintenance free deck will be enjoyed for many years. This was the first time his installers used this railing, but they did their homework and nailed it! Deck Creations process from quote to completion was professional and precise. I highly recommend them for any of your deck and porch needs.

1) Their customer service in getting back to us, sitting down with us, helping us work within our budget, and following up was top notch. They were helpful, never pushy, and put everything out in front of us. There were no surprises or hidden costs.

There were zero issues during or afterwards.
They got the job done and done right.

2) They built exactly what we wanted. They helped us put together what we wanted but also gave us great ideas.
3) The builders work and are professionals. I've never seen job site so clean or cleaned up at the end of the day. We didnt have us much as loose piece of paper floating around our yard.
4) Their work. Our deck looks amazing. It's given us a great addition to our home and maximized space in our yard.

I called Deck creations on a Sunday morning to leave a message hoping to get a call back on Monday to schedule an estimate for a screened in porch and the owner Don called me back within a couple hours. I obtained 3 estimates for my porch and Deck Creations was the most professional even providing renderings of what it would look like as well as detailed cost. Their price was the best and I was able to get the quality porch and materials I wanted. I can’t say enough about Deck creations, they were here when they said they would be. The timeline was as they said, the work was impeccable! They did extra things on my porch as they were building because it made the porch look better. (I was not charged for them) It looks like part of the house, not like an add on. Don the owner is honest, available if you need him and wants you to be a satisfied and happy customer. They did good clean up of my yard as well. The handle on my screen door was not functioning properly and I called them it was replaced a short time later. I highly recommend them and I know you will get a great job from them. I love my screened in porch and would never want to be without it...If I move I will be calling Deck Creations to build me another. :)

My wife and I worked with Deck Creations 2 years ago to build a screened porch with gas masonry fireplace. Don Weaver and his great crew had our project completed within 3 weeks. We couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out! We enjoy it just about every night. I HIGHLY recommend Deck Creations for anyone in the Richmond, VA area looking to build an addition on to their existing home.

Deck Creations provided quality work at value pricing for our deck replacement. The initial assessment was detailed and each piece of the job was explained. Our original deck was 24 years old and we opted for composite. The support structure required reinforcement and the work was performed well. The timber tech product is impressive and is a huge improvement over the old decking. We decided on the powdered aluminum railing and accent lighting for posts and steps and it turned out beautifully.
We are pleased with the materials and quality work provided. The installers were very quality conscious and when they had questions they always asked for clarification from the homeowners before continuing. Highly recommend Deck Creations for your decking needs.

I requested an estimate and got a very fast response to set up an appointment. Showed up at the agreed upon time and took the time to go over options and the process. I was told it would be a few days to receive the estimate via email. It's been almost 2 weeks and I haven't received an estimate.

Work was completed very professionally and was kept informed through the whole process. I would use Deck Creations again and recommend them to my friends.

We are thrilled with our new deck! It looks awesome and the whole experience was seamless. Deck Creations gave us great quality craftsmanship for an affordable price. I was wowed by how fast the process was. I was expecting it to be a drawn out affair, but the guys showed up, the material was delivered and in 2 weeks it was done. They worked everyday until they were done.

The deck looks great and we even had under-decking installed for a future patio. Our neighbors complement us on how great the deck looks. I was around for the whole process and I was also impressed at how the workers took the time to ask me questions and show me the progress that was occurring. There was great feedback from the workers and foreman.

If you are looking for a high quality deck, that is done right, and for a fair price, I highly recommend going with Deck Creations!

Deck Creations just finished up a complete rebuild of our deck. From the get go, Don Weaver was responsive, prompt, and seemed trustworthy. Our deck was pretty vintage to 1982 and is about 1000 squate feet. The land provides multiple challenges due to various slopes. Don Cook, our project manager, and his team of workers built us exactly what we were hoping for. When we realized that we wanted an extra 2" of deck on one end, they were able to work with us to get that extension done which gave us the viual effect we really wanted. The guys were great. The highest compliment I can provide is to say that I would recommend them, and I would recommend them with no hesitation.

Once the project got started I was very pleased with how everyone stayed on schedule and worked around the weather as best as possible. The deck crew was very easy to work with and would meet with me on a regular basis to discuss the progress of the project. I was pleasantly surprised at how the patio contractor cleaned up after his part of the project was completed and even put down grass seed and straw in areas that were worn during construction. We are very happy with the finished product on both the deck and the patio.

After years of visualizing our dream deck and patio—not to mention several failed DIY attempts—we longer just dream. My wife and I are living the Dream!!!! Thank you, Deck Creations! Don, his crew and staff were just awesome . All were insightful, professional,
skilled and trustworthy.

We have had Deck Creations rebuild 3 tiers of deck stairs and our front porch landing, along with modern deck skirting to replace the tired lattice. Don was very responsive, quick and accurate with estimates. His team was able to start right away and did high quality work. We are very pleased with the results and look forward to using them for future projects!

To start from the beginning - I hired Deck Creations of Richmond VA to build a new deck where one once stood. I interviewed the Company and reviewed their on line reviews. All looked good so I proceeded with the company. I paid the first 1/3 of the estimate to get on their schedule (I typically do not pay a retaining fee for building projects). This should have raised some red flags however with all the positive comments and reviews I chose to pay upfront. Once the materials arrived I paid the 2/3 payment of the estimate. The company built the deck however they didn't necessarily stick to the original design agreement - wanted the deck 1.5-2" away from any portion from the house as the deck was to be free standing. They built it touching the house. They decided they would simply cut the upper deck flooring away from the house when I addressed the distance from the house issue. During the floor cutting process they gouged my fairly new sliding patio door outer trim (vinyl) and put a big gouge in the fairly new composite sliding door kick-plate. They also dented my fairly new gutter downspout - they hammered decking floor into the side of the down spout rather than perform the proper cuts. Additionally many cuts were so bad they had to re-cut the lumber and even with the second and third attempt the cuts were still poor. There are several splits in the wood where they haphazardly screwed the deck together not considering the width or closeness to the edge of the wood. The deck itself looks reasonable from a distance (25' away) but when close (10' or less) once can see it's clearly built without any sort of "exceptional craftsmanship" in mind. The funny fact about "exception craftsmanship" is that the term is used in their advertising materials. A few other facts:
* Porta-poty left in front yard several weeks after construction was complete
* Workers threw cigarette buts on ground and left them (we have a dog - cigarette buts are toxic to dogs)
* Site foreman argued the closeness of the deck to the house; tried to persuade me to leave it touching when original desire was to have it 1.5-2" from the house
* Deck house facing band-board is severely arched towards house; floor-joists were not properly cut for length
* Company used a board for a floor joist that should have sent back to the lumber yard or thrown away ; they simply scabbed another board behind the floor joist to help strengthen the unusable floor joist
* Deck flooring not cut straight on edges; I've never seen someone cut a line as bad as this company did
* Several cuts not straight and some cuts having "ledges"; not sure what the people building this deck used to cut the lumber with - I can truly say the cuts in many areas fail any sort of straight test
* Final step of landing below grade; not sure how it passed inspection??
* Allowed my neighbors to look / review the quality of the deck as they were considering having this company build their's; after seeing ours they decided to not proceed with this company
To close this review out - the company did come out two times and replace a few board and performed a few items. The biggest complaints I had was never addressed or repaired (poor cuts on flooring, split wood from screws and damage to my house). The President of the company tended to "white wash" any complaints; example: one 6x6 post being out of level by more than an inch - he referred to it as being a 1/4" inch out of level. The company tended to "white wash" all complaints and be somewhat difficult to deal with; basically they threw up a structure and wanted to be paid. I didn't expect this type of quality - I expect much better.
Bottom line - won't ever call this company for any additional deck projects.

A full review is forthcoming. But here are photos (3) of what they call a finished and quality product, which is also 4 months late. I am trying to post better pictures of the crooked and sagging deck but google is limiting the amount of photos i can post. The deck was supposed to be flush and tight to the pool. I expect a few imperfections. But this is unacceptable by any means. Very dishonest and deceitful company. They will promise you everything but will not deliver. The sub contractors that work for them are the ones who pay the price. They try to work with the customer but are told to do things differently by management than what was agreed to in the contract.
UPDATE: As you have seen they responded to the review and were once again deceitful and dishonest. So in response, I will be happy to also show not only photos of the very uneven and wavy deck but I will also be glad to show all correspondence to and from the company as proof. We were forced to file a complaint with the DPOR just to get them to do what they said. This company is very irresponsible, unprofessional, and above all mid managed. The sub-contractors did try to do a professional job but the site manager constantly forcing them to cut corners and do things other than what was agreed upon caused most of the issues. The 2 major things were that the so called President and owner refused to engage once they had our money and they have no QA process to review the work. If the site manager said it was good, that was all they cared about. So please contact me and I can verify all of my claims so the word can be spread and others can avoid the same issues we have had.
Update number 2. I am now having to rebuild my entire deck as it started to actually collapse in areas. The deck that was suppose to be level with the pool rim was over an inch low in places. As the deck was being dismantled, the problem was identified. There were numerous joists that were never secured and some that were extended so far beyond their truss that they had no support. The so-called repairman that came out did repairs while we were at work and all he did was put board on the ground and drive wedges under them. Yes, when the ground settled, the deck went with it. I have added 6 additional posts with Footer’s and have rebuilt the frame to now be level. The job I actually paid them to do.
