Dan's Ace Hardware

Wow ... I was just trying to buy 8 small screws with 8 nuts. I put down the weight price which came out to be $2.57 at the register. I went to pay but then was told I put down the wrong price on the little bag. I waited patiently as he went to verify the price. 3 minutes later he came up with a new price of $2.80. I was about to pay again but was then told I must show him the exact bin I took the screws and nuts out of. I didn't have time for that. So I handed him a $5 bill and said you can just keep the change. He wouldn't accept it and said if I want the screws I had to show him. Anyway I left ... I guess they lost a 20 year customer over 23 cents.

Sonie helped from green house to store to register to car and answered all my questions, and chatted for fun too a bit.

Been to Dan's Ace hardware for years for various urgent needs for materials to complete various projects. Overall, Ace's is definitely not my #1 choice for project materials since the price is higher than most other retailers, but I always love getting treated well and right with helpful employees there, however, NOT TODAY! I was there to get something for my small project I really wanted to get done today, normally, when I walked in and started looking for stuff in the store, someone always approached me and asked if I needed any help. Today, when I walked in, I really couldn't find the stuff I needed, and passed few employees few times, and never got any help. Then I decided to just asked one of them for help, and SHOCKINYLY, I was treated like garbage. The way I was "questioned" and the way I was "pointed" to was more than just rude. What pissed me off even more was, I thought that dude probably just had a bad day, but NO, he approached other customers in the store just like what I would expect from any employee there. And few mins later, he walked directly passed me in the same aisle and never bother to ask and just passed by. Try not to think that way, but I was the only dude with color in that store, and this is probably why???!!! Anyway, this incident completely changed my view with this store, and if it wasn't for a project I really want to get done today, I would never walk in there. But if you aren't like me, you'll probably be fine and get good service and help from here.

When I was going to leave my job my key disconnected from the fob. I went to Ace Hardware and Sonie, Colby and especially Kyle saved me hundreds of dollars. Not only did they install a new battery for my car key but they set the apoxia so my key would stay in place!

When I need a hose fitting or specialty plumbing items that are hard to find in large stores like Walmart, Dan's Ace Harkware is where I go, The staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. My "go to" hardware store in the Rexburg, Idaho area. .

In July 2024, we started remodeling a house up by Smith Park. We bought 100+ products here while we were remodeling the house. All of the employees are amazing. The prices are great. It is very clean and they have a wide selection of products.

Amazing staff! Went in looking for a bolt and Devan went above and beyond, even helping me figure out my project. When I had to go back, all of the employees were always eager to help!

Very pleasant employees, plus they have a really good selection. They need to give Josh Coles a raise, he was extremely helpful and went above and beyond.

Accused of returning a used bolt cutters due to them having a circle in the paint and didn’t believe us until he went and check the ones in the store and realized that they all had the same circle.Another time I asked an employee if they had a product and he said he would go find out where it was and never came back and then I asked another employee and he said he had no idea. Never call and ask if they have a product because they will tell you they have it and then when you go in they have never heard of that product.

I like this place because of helpful staff and good inventory. But pic on this post is NOT this place.

It was a little frustrating to get the help I needed. I wandered around a bit to find someone to ad about making a key..they sent me to paint counter. Employee made the key, and sent me "either to the front of store or back of store " to check out. No one was at either register, but a nice you man said he'd help me, take my money. But he had to call 3 times for someone to bring him change for his register. Finally got checked out and on my way.

Useful and got a free shirt once. A really good place to loiter on the weekends.
Maybe invite a couple buddies.

I come here all the time. Prices are decent and they offer parts that nowhere else in town has in stock. The shelves are always full and the bolt aisle is more than plentiful. Sometimes there's one or two kinds of bolts I can't find, but they offer a diverse selection for the most part.
Most of the employees are great and helpful. One or two are lazy and incompetent. You'll see a huge line at the register and instead of them opening up another register, they will pretend to move items around and organize shelves, almost as if they are an NPC. I think it would be interesting to conduct a sociology experiment on the employees at this Ace. Some of them are very special specimens.

Overall, 10/10.

Best customer service in town! Sonie immediately stopped what she was working on to assist us & was so kind to us while she did. She offered us help beyond what was expected while I was there with my special needs daughter, which can feel very overwhelming to all involved. She was very much appreciated & the experience worthy of praise.

I literally can’t go anywhere else for my hardware needs. They always have everything I need here. Sonie (I think that’s how you spell her name.) greeted me right when I came in, and asked me if there was anything she could do. I gave her two obscure requests and she was able to get me exactly what I needed in record time and was extremely extremely kind. 10 out of 10 would go here again.

Easy place to run into. It's a small ACE hardware but they normally have everything I need. Staff was helpful on directing me to the spot I needed to get something.

I go here several times a month since there are no other big box hardware stores. The staff are very helpful; however, it's a small store and still has a limited selection of products. Also, prices are higher than your big box hardware stores.

Great customer service. Always very helpful and go out of their way for. My go to for Ace Hardware stores.

I doubt a week goes by that I don't visit this store. they will usually have what I am looking forward. I also enjoy the military discount (thanks). I have also had them special order stuff for me. great store.

I went in looking for something specific. The store doesn't carry it. I thought the young man at the register was super kind and engaged in helping me but the man that was in the actual department wasn't helpful at all.

I’ve never met friendlier retail staff. The employees at Dan’s Ace understand how to treat their customers. This is why Dan’s is always my first place I go to.

These days, there really isn't such a thing as customer service! SADLY it is a thing of the past. BUT TODAY WE WERE BEYOND IMPRESSED with the customer service and the extra mile that the manager, Sonie, here in the Rexburg store provided
when we had issues with a gift card we had that was bought at a different location but wouldn't work. Thank you Sonia, we appreciate all your help and your kindness.

I need AAA batteries and they helped me find them right away even though they were easily found. They were friendly and fast. I was very pleased.

Nothing particularly bad to say about this Ace; they've just often being out the thing I came in to get.
That aside, the staff here are great; very helpful. I haven't had any issues with the products I have bought, and they generally have a good selection at decent prices, including some more obscure gardening products such as staking/grafting tape.

I find myself coming back every few months because everything generally works out fine. They probably have what you need.

I went to buy some tools and they have better tools than anyone else in town. A bit more expensive but worth the money!

Izzy is great with helping us find what we need! Great selection of Traeger products as well as power tools. Definitely our go to hardware store in Rexburg!

Nice hardware store, I usually have a good experience at any Ace hardware. I normally just get hardware and they always have what I need. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and if they don't know they know how to find out. They're on the corner so parking is easy and there is back parking too.

We’ve been buying paint from this Ace for years. We’ve remodeled both houses we’ve lived in and this newer one has 5500 square feet and it allllll needs painted. My husband went to buy several gallons of paint. Their machine was being tricky (it’s often this way, if it’s working) and the gal couldn’t get it to mix right. She asked another employee for help. They said they’d work on it and my husband told them if it would be a while he’d leave and gas up and then come back. They agreed. He shows back up 25 minutes later and they tell him “sorry we can’t mix it while you’re gone because we have people not come back.” Which is a fine policy but they should have mentioned that when he told them he would leave and come back. So at this point he’s over an hour in trying to get this paint. They start mixing paint but the machine does something weird and doesn’t finish the last color going in so it’s a mistint. They try again. Same thing. So now we have 2 identical wrong colors of paint. And it’s been almost 2 hours. The manager says “sorry if it’s not working it’s not going to. We won’t try again.” My husband, needing to get the laundry room painted that weekend decided it’s fine if the laundry room is a slightly different color than the hall and asks to buy the mistint sat a discount since they can’t get him the correct color (which they do but not to the original customer) and they wouldn’t sell it to him. Normally I get this policy but in this case, he spent almost 2 hours trying to buy paint that they then refused to mix AND THEN wouldn’t sell him their mess ups. So 2 hours and no paint. Drove to a different hardware store and had 2 gallons of paint the right color in 5 minutes or less. I just always thought mixing paint took 30+ minutes every time but apparently it doesn’t’ I’d recommend AT LEAST calling before you go buy paint to see if their machine is working if you absolutely have to get it there. I won’t again ‍♀️

I love the experience that everyone has and that they aren’t afraid to ask another employee for help if they don’t know the answer.

Dan’s Ace Hardware always has such a nice tidy little store, with a really special top of the line customer support staff!
If I can ever avoid going to a larger “chain,” store for the items that I may need & utilize Dan’s Ace Hardware instead of….well then darnit…that’s what I’m going to do! And by the way…you should too! Happy shopping y’all!

This is one of the best Ace's I have been to! The staff is all very kind and helpful. I needed a new, bar light bulb for my kitchen. The one I picked out was not the right one and more expensive. They helped me find the right one, that would match the existing color, and was less expensive! My experience here was amazing, and everytime I go back it is still just as great!

Ace Hardware raises the bar for customer service. Everyone there, from the managers, to their cashiers, are consistently cheerful, helpful, and knowledgeable. It’s hard to leave the store, while eating yummy popcorn, and daydreaming over the Milwaukee and Dewalt tool selections.

I love this place!

The manager and just about everyone here are great. They are knowledgeable and helpful, and the selection is great for our town!
