We had an exceptional experience working with the amazing CDG team. Milford is a visionary architect who's process for creation landed us the house we dreamed of. Down to every detail... for the duration. The team was engaged, flexible to our creative ideas, and provided candid advice on decor to harmonize key material choices (wood flooring, lighting, cabinet choices etc.) with overall style of the house. Timelines met or exceeded (during a pandemic!).It was a pleasure working with Milford, Terri, Chad, and then team.

After interviewing several architectural firms, my wife and I selected Cushman Design Group for designing our home in Vermont. A significant factor in our decision was Milford Cushman’s design philosophy, which we learned about as we drove around with him to see some of the beautiful homes that his firm had designed: being sensitive to the unique aspects of a site – the views, the light, the terrain – in locating a house and developing its design, as well as his belief in “the sacredness of everyday spaces” and what that means to an individual client. Throughout the design and construction process, we came to rely on Milford’s early experience as a builder; his skills as an artist, listener, and problem solver; and his calm and focused approach as well as the CDG team’s collaborative spirit, creativity, and professionalism. Together, they made the whole process less stressful. It was a pleasure working with them. Since this was the first time my wife and I were working on a house design, there were many things we didn’t know. Milford and his team were very patient in answering our questions, proposing alternative technical and aesthetic solutions for various aspects of the design as our thoughts on what we wanted evolved, explaining the pros and cons of different approaches, responding to feedback, and respecting our design decisions. We are very happy with the beautiful and thoughtful design that they produced, and we are enjoying our peaceful retreat in the woods. We highly recommend Cushman Design Group.

I met with Cushman Design Group. Originally at the peak of COVID at 2020 to discuss a major renovation of my house. My goal was to have an architect really hear my vision for my dream house and then put the pencil to paper and make it happen. To say I am not an artist would be a severe understatement, so I really needed help figuring out and visualizing the end result. To say that I was pleased would be another big-time understatement. Milford Cushman is a wonderful listener. They say you have two ears and one mouth so use them in proportion: He certainly does that. He was able to turn my dream into reality. Milford and Terri (his partner and wife) are also just very nice people…so over the last three years, during this major project, we all developed a great relationship. We have just moved in, and everything that he did -- all of the detail, the angles, the thought process, the ideas, the creativity was beyond my expectations. On top of that, they were also priced very reasonably compared to some of the other firms. I would highly recommend Cushman Design Group to anybody that is thinking of embarking on any housing construction project: On a 1-10 I give them an 11 :) !
