Russ was amazing and I'm super pleased with the service provider. As a REALTOR for over 20 years I've worked with many inspectors and Bird Dog is up there with the best. Found the whole process with Russ to be really easy... the website, him answering the phone and going through some things, scheduling the inspection, paying online, etc. The inspection by Russ was VERY thorough and the report came quickly which was much appreciated. We were not able to attend the inspection so the fact that the photos and notes were so clear was so helpful. And the way you can sort the report by section such as electrical... just all around very good and would definitely recommend.

On this job a portion of the inspection couldn't be completed due to concealed property damage. Russ took extra time to try to circumvent the barrier but still could not complete one portion of the work. In spite of all the extra time and effort on his part, Russ provided me with a fast refund for the portion of the contract he could not fulfill. Thank you! Great experience with Russ, buying my first home is stressful and he made the inspection part of the process extremely easy. When Russ arrived, I immediately said: "Look at you showing up early!" To which he replied: "I subscribe to the idea that if you're not early, you're late!" From that point on, I knew I had a winner. He said he preferred not chatting with the customer until the end when he summarized his findings, and so it was all business for the next 2+ hours. I have 4 dogs and he was great with them and when he reviewed his notes with me he was very thorough and easy to understand. Russell did an outstanding job with our recent Home Inspection. He identified a significant issue with the Septic system which resulted in the unfortunate termination of the purchase and sales agreement. Had we proceeded without the thorough inspection performed by Bird Dog Home Inspections we would have experienced hidden cost well north of $20k.

We hired Russ over a year ago for a home inspection & couldn't have been more pleased then and now. I could not have been happier with who I chose to inspect our future home. Russ was highly recommended by a few people I know who recently purchased homes. He did not answer the phone the first time I called on a whim in the middle of the day, but if you listen to his voicemail or read his website he gives very clear instructions on how to proceed. I will be honest, I was weary of this at first.

However, I followed his instructions and filled out his inspection request online. The process was easy and seamless. Once this was complete Russ reached out through email to schedule with me. Less than 12 hours before the scheduled inspection the seller of the home requested to cancel and reschedule for legal reasons. I immediately emailed Russ and did not expect an answer is it was already 10PM. I called him the next morning to verify he had seen my email and was not going to a home that he unable to access. I even expected some sort of fee for short notice cancellation. That was not the case. Russ was so friendly and said he completely understands. A consummate professional. We agreed to reschedule as soon as possible.

He waited to hear from me, and when he did he was sure to fit me in his schedule promptly. Within a week both times! Thankfully, he was able to inspect the home the second time around. I had a family member meet him there. He gave some feedback on-site during the course of the inspection and said he would have a report back to me as soon as he could. That same afternoon I received an email with my report linked in it. I followed the link, paid by credit card online and accessed our report. The report was very thorough. It contained photos of all findings (including thermal scans for heat loss & sewer scope inspection) with explanations in full detail. It also included a condensed summary.

Hiring Russ made my wife and I feel much more secure in purchasing the property we were looking at as first time home buyers. I have never met Russ but I would recommend him without hesitation to anybody looking to hire a home inspector.

Russ is truly a remarkable home inspector and wonderful person. He sees everything and is honest, professional and kind. My housing needs are quite unique due to complications from Lyme disease. Russ not only helped me see the flaws in my first attempts at finding a home but was able to help resolve problems that “experts” had been unable to help me with. I have a cabin that I’m selling. I had the septic system tested by a septic company and was told the leaching field is fine and works as it should. A potential buyer hired Russ to inspect the property. He dug two holes in the leaching field and told the buyers the leaching field was failing so they walked away from the deal. I just paid another $450 to have a different septic company test the leaching field and they told me the leaching field is working perfectly and that Russ is not qualified to be testing septic systems and they’ve had similar issues with Bird Dog before.
If I could give zero stars I would.

Russell inspected a home I entered a purchase and sale agreement in, and I'm so thankful we found this company. First, he was able to schedule his inspection just days from first contacting him. He report was done the same day and was in depth and understandable to someone like me with little experience. I also had the home thermal imaged and the septic system checked. He found problems I didn't even imagine. I will only use Bird Dog for home inspections going forward.
