Nate installed handmade tile in our kitchen. The tile had a fair amount of variation in dimensions but that was no problem for him. The work was professional and on time. We were pleased with the prep work he did to protect the recently installed counter and cabinetry. This was a minor job for Construction by Design—looking forward to a bigger challenge for them!

Nate and crew tackled our huge mess of a laundry room/powder room renovation with efficiency, reliability, and care. They were meticulous about the process and their end result - something VERY difficult for me, a self-proclaimed perfectionist, to find. I’d recommend them for small updates all the way up to kitchen and major home renovations. Thanks Nate!!

Working with Nate was great! We did a large custom kitchen and mudroom remodel, and refinished all the hardwood floors throughout the first floor. Three months after finishing our kitchen, we are still happy about the fine work and craftsmanship of it. Nate was wonderful. He was able to take our original design and customize it when we hit a major snag. We own an older home, so it is not unusual to hit a snag. He was also wonderful at communicating with us and asking for feedback. I plan to hire him again when I do our next big project.

Nathan and his team are amazing to work with from start to finish! They were responsive to our needs and answered every question we had. When it came time for the job to begin they communicated with us daily and were present when the subcontractors were working putting us at ease the the job would be done right. They left the job each evening cleaned and organized for the next morning so we were able to use the master bedroom while the master bath was remodeled. Their work was excellent and they were a pleasure to work with.

Doing a Kitchen remodel is not a cheap effort that you get to do often. So when I was looking for someone to remodel my kitchen, I didn't want a company that would just send in some independent 3rd party crew, whose job was to only do what they were told as fast as the possibly could. Thank you Nathan Veader and Construction By Design! We wanted to replace a dated hanging light fixture with a ceiling fan, but without attic space above the ceiling, we were faced with tearing out part of our ceiling to replace the outlet box with one that could support the fan. Nate offered a solution and removed the old box and installed a brace for a new box through just the existing hole! He saved us a lot of extra work and the trouble of tearing out and patching back the ceiling and now we have a nice new fan! Nate was neat and used a drop cloth to keep our house clean, he explained how everything he was doing worked, and he was very respectful of our home and our safety. We highly recommend him and his company for any project.

I had Construction By Design, design a new kitchen and put hardwood floors throughout my entire house. They came up with different options and were responsive to my own thoughts and ideas. Nate and Mike are true professionals and were always on time, never missed a day, and cleaned up completely every single day. I am more than thrilled with my new kitchen and my floors look fantastic! I recently had my bathroom repaired and remodeled by Nate Veader after a leaking toilet damaged the subflooring. The estimate for the work was very reasonable. One of the best things was that Nate was present for the entire job. We only have one bathroom and he was very considerate in making sure that by the end of the first work day, we had the new toilet installed. He and his assistant, Mike, arrived early and worked very hard to make sure that happened for us. They took care to protect my floors and staircase with drop cloths and cleaned up the area – including vacuuming – at the end of each day. At each step of the work, Nate took the time to show me what was going on and what would happen next. Most importantly, I am extremely happy with the quality of the work from the toilet installation to the trim molding and caulking. He replaced the bathroom door and it is perfect. My bathroom vanity and vessel sink – fish shaped – are beautiful! I have been disappointed by other contractors and usually expect to be disappointed. But NOT this time! I trust Nate and will hire him again for future projects. I highly recommend him – a real professional.

10/24/22 - Less than a week ago, Nate and Mike completed a second project for me, a kitchen remodel and installation of new flooring throughout the downstairs. It's a small kitchen but it's awesome! Not only is it beautiful, but the workmanship is excellent. Nate was very thoughtful and caring about what I wanted. I can't say enough good things about the quality of work. Nate and Mike work very hard and I wouldn't trust anyone else.

Construction By Design did a major project for us that was a total remodeling of an old kitchen, a bathroom and the lower level of our house to create an office and family room. They had to work with our kitchen designer , a custom cabinent maker and other professionals to complete the work. We were very impressed with the quality of the work, the attention to detail and the creative way that they handled problems that arose. We were completely kept advised of all issues and felt that we were part of the team working through the problems. Most importantly, we felt totally confident that we could trust Nathan and his crew which had access to our house for weeks. They do not over extend or over promise and are candid about delays or issues that arise. It was a delight to work with Construction by Design on the remodel of our master bathroom. The staff worked within our budget, were punctual, and professional. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and have asked for an estimate on our next project.

The job took two weeks, but I was really impressed with the quality of work. Along the way, Nate pointed out some things he suggested be fixed. Among them was enclosing a wall to make it meet code, removing old hot and cold water pipes that were no longer used, and replacing shutoff valves in the powder room. While I did have to pay extra to have this work done, the additional costs were very reasonable and were an indication that this provider does not attempt to gouge the homework once they start a job.

Description of Work:
The provider removed about 400 square feet of ceramic tile, which was a challenge as it was glued down extremely well. He then placed a thin layer of overlay and then installed grouted Armstrong Alterna vinyl composite tile. Additionally, he transformed a full height wall between our breakfast nook and family room and then capped the half-height wall with a piece of poplar. The third thing the provider did was to enlarge the opening around my refrigerator so that I could get a large fridge; this involved removing some drywall and then finishing off the existing drywall. The final item was painting the entire kitchen.

It was a pleasure to work with Nate Veader, of Construction by Design, from start to finish. I needed to update/renovate a bathroom in my 100 year old home. I wanted to maintain the historic integrity of the floors and walls while adding a shower, new vanity, medicine cabinet, electrical outlet and lighting. Nate respected and listened to my plans. During the project Nate kept his work area to a minimum and cleaned up immaculately each day. The project was finished in a timely fashion and I was thrilled with my lovely, new bathroom! A few months later he was back doing the demo and new installation of our kitchen floor. We were out of the country during this project, and Nate communicated with us and problem solved, as needed. Again, we were totally happy with the process and finished project! Nate is a talented professional and friendly and considerate person that we hope to work with many more times in the future.

Construction by Design really helped me and my husband out in a pinch. Our Realtor suggested updating our bathroom before we put our home on the market and Nathan not only found time to squeeze us into his schedule, he also finished on time and the end result was amazing. Our first project with CBD was a remodel of 2 adjoining bathrooms. Walls were moved to enlarge the master bath, much of the plumbing was moved to new places and we have been enjoying the results for 3 years. That job went so well that we hired them again to remodel a large kitchen and update several bathrooms in an upscale rental home. That project’s turnaround time was very tight but they completed the work by the promised date. The wonderful results helped us rent it quickly at a bad time of the year.

We have used Construction By Design for three projects over several years, and have continued to be very pleased with both the quality and personal attention to details in all the projects. Our first contact was to repair the roof and front of the garage when a tree fell on it. Good job, done well and good price. The second was to remodel the bathroom to make it wheelchair accessible. That one took some ingenuity to work within the given space of the existing bathroom. Again, very pleased with the result.
