Homeowners Beware! Get EVERYTHING in writing!!

My experience with CBX Roofs can be summed up in 1 word “DISASTER”.

CBX is disorganized and lacked quality in their work, particularly when it came to detail, which included my house siding, windows, and the refinishing of my deck. It's frustrating when a contractor is unable to get the job done right the first time and must repeatedly order materials, causing unnecessary delays and inconvenience for me as the homeowner. My home during the spring and summer of 2023 was a never-ending construction zone. I signed up with them in September of 2022. They came to my home in November and replaced the roof. The came in February and measured the siding of my home 3 different times. Which is why I found it surprising that they were unable to order the right number of materials, no 1 time, not 2 times but 3 times!!! The first time they just didn’t have enough to finish the entire back of my home. The second time they ordered enough to complete just the back but did not have enough to finish the east side they had started initially. CBX was able to complete my neighbor's home in just under 3 weeks, while it took them over three months to get close to completing my home. Such a significant discrepancy in timeline raises questions about their efficiency and prioritization of projects and quality.

They damaged areas of my home's trim. To this date they have not replied to my inquiry. I find it unacceptable, and it shows a lack of care and professionalism on the part of CBX Roofs. They should take full responsibility for any damages caused during their work. Based on my experience, CBX Roofs did not meet the standards of a reliable and efficient contractor. I did ask and did receive a small discount. The discount was just not charging me for the work that was supposed to have been performed on my deck. I would have much rather had my home finished in a timely manner (all of it). I have had to find another contractor to paint the trim of the windows replaced because CBX stated they don’t do that sort of work? They painted my deck (horribly) as well as the neighbors window trim?? I checked in with the family I referred that isn’t my neighbor and they are still awaiting on CBX to complete their work as well.

Feel free to reach out to me for additional information if needed. I have video and pictures of this entire project end to end (except for the back of the house where they cut the wires towards the end of May. They started the work in March and didn't finish until August.

My advice when looking to use CBX would be to do your homework. I would never recommend them. Their response to this posting will show you just how “important” their customers are.

Good Luck!

Like many others in the Liberty Lake area, our house suffered hail damage to the roof and gutters, and CBX was there to provide a complete reinstallation. After discussing the options with Kaipo and Austin, I was impressed with their knowledge of roofing, and they had all the right answers. The previous roof installation had some issues with insufficient drainage and leaks, and CBX corrected everything. CBX upgraded the new roof to the latest codes and had the roof inspected by Spokane County. The new Legacy Scotchgard shingles have the highest Class 4 hail impact rating and contain > 10% copper granules to prevent roof algae and moss from growing. Kaipo was easy to work with and very professional. He worked with the insurance company to see that price increases and permit fees were taken into account. CBX contracted with Granite Mountain to provide seamless aluminum gutters, which was also done very professionally. I give CBX an A+.

Kaipo and Columbia Basin Exteriors were fantastic to work with. Kaipo was professional, courteous, and quick to respond to all of our questions and concerns. Our roof was damaged after a hail storm and CBX did most of the legwork with our insurance company. When it came time for the actual replacement, they came out with a full crew and were able to get it done in one day. It looks great!

We decided to go with CBX rather than a different company that most of the people in our neighborhood were using because they are a small, family run business and we felt like we would get more personal service and I feel like we did.

Wow. This company was amazing. Customer service was top notch. I was dealing with Brett and the whole process was so smooth and fast. Roofers were professional, I didn't even have to take off my gutters for the job. Workers were very detail oriented. I'm happy to have new roof and it only took them 3 days from start to finish. Definitely would recommend these guys.

They repaired our roof after the hail storm that our area had. They were very quick with tearing the old roof off and putting on the new roof. The workmanship is excellent. The reason for the 4 stars is because their workers were slapping the shingles(in bundles) on the roof fairly hard which caused a few of our items on shelves to tip over or fall down. After telling the contractor what happened he resolved the issue and it didnt happen again. All in all, I would use their services again.

Chad was a godsend. He was helpful, courteous and friendly. They cleaned up the jobsite, did great follow up and was very responsive. Tell them you have animals ahead of time, so they make sure to keep gates shut. Communication was spot on. They helped with insurance woes and assisted with everything. Stellar. Highly recommend.

Kaipo and his team of CBX roofers were professional, courteous and very efficient in each and every contact. Kaipo worked through my insurance company to get the ball rolling efficiently
And quickly. The roof was totally replaced within the time he promised. The roofing crew worked hard and past dark and finished the new roof placement in less than 24 hours. They were respectful of me and my property. The yard was picked up and gone over with a magnet to removed all debris. Phone calls were answered promptly and I was notified throughout the process with all updates. It was a pleasure to work with this company from the free roof analysis to completion of the final peoject. Thank you CBX Roofers for a job well done! Thank you Kaipo Kamai!

We experienced hail damage to our roof, gutters, garage doors and window screens. We called CBX to give us their free inspection. They came immediately and explained the amount of damage the hail caused. They worked with our insurance company and adjuster. CBX was professional, had quality materials, skilled and efficient roofers. The repairs were completed timely. We have had no problems. We highly recommend CBX without hesitation!

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
