Had a 500 sq ft addition (mother-in-law suite) built in 2019. Several small little problems have popped up over a couple years (LVP flooring gaps in both rooms, roof vent put on backwards so rain leaked into attic/ceiling, master shower controls always loose, vinyl siding has fallen off in 3 separate areas). So a few weeks ago we noticed the original wood flooring in the “old” section of the house was warping/staining and was warm to the touch. Tiles in hallway bathroom adjacent to wet spot was warm. Strong moldy smell coming from bathroom closet. Our own contractor looked into it and found this MESS under the house where the plumbing was tied into plumbing for the addition. “Quest” Brand plumbing fixtures have been banned from use in new construction, but here they are causing water damage in our crawl space on a 60-year-old house!
Please find another reputable company if you’re looking to build.

Had roof put on in 2011. Paid for all the extra bells and whistles in order to qualify for the “50” year roof warranty . Have had a minimum of six different leaks since the roof was Installed. Leaked in both bathrooms, our garage in 3 different areas and now it’s leaking in our living room. Our newest leak started about a week or so ago. Had another roofing company come out which inspected our roof and found that our shingles, were improperly nailed by the installers that Colony sent out. He checked over the whole roof and found this improper nailing pattern in more than 15 areas that he checked. The nails are on the edge of keyway joints. We also have exposed nailheads in other areas. We are now stuck with a less than 15 year-old roof having to be replaced. This is after spending over $1000 in the last six years on repairs for other things done incorrectly. A portion of our roof had flashing missing as well as flashing installed incorrectly. That just costed us $600 to repair a little over a month ago. All the owner cares to talk about is how because we had other people working on our roof likely voided the warranty. But what he fails to realize is the improper installation from his crews voided our warranty a long time ago. He says he’s never had a roof with so many problems…The owner also does not like to take blame when things start to leak and likes to blame you for not doing yearly roof inspections, not having your roof sparkling clean, not having your roof soft washed etc. The fact of the matter is none of these issues could’ve been prevented before we noticed leaks. I get up on my roof often to clean it to remove debris from trees, but I should not have to sit there and scrutinize my roof for exposed nails and nails being placed in improper ways. Look for a smaller company that does things themselves and actually cares about the work and doesn’t pass blame when things go wrong and makes it right.

Superb quality and workmanship at a fair price.
I got five bids for my roof replacement. Herb came out and was great to talk to. I'm no roofer, but I have done a ton of research in the last year or so leading up to this project. Herb was the only one of five to point out the necessity of drip edge and proper ventilation. To me, this says a lot about the roofing industry. Many many contractors will happily take your $10k+ and install a roof that will last 1/3 as long as it could if installed properly. Proper intake and exhaust venting is critical, silicone boots, galvanized nails, competently flashed chimney, and other little things need to be done correctly so that the roof lasts as long as possible. Herb was clearly in favor of installing the best possible roof.
Colony worked with my budget and I gave them the job. Herb even suggested another shingle color from the one I thought I wanted. This turned out to be a great pick which I love. He also didn't badmouth one shingle maker over another, and was willing to install any of the quality brands on the market.
They worked diligently all day, and when I arrived home from work, everything was getting buttoned up and they were starting to clean. They spent more than an hour cleaning up, and I have only found one nail that they missed. Overall, they did an excellent job on the install. Everything is so neat and clean, valleys look perfect, little touches like painting the vent stacks just helps the roof look even more sharp. It was a cold day, and got dark quickly, yet these guys managed to get everything right and did a great job cleaning up and limiting disruption to the neighbors.
Cannot say enough good things about my experience. I will be recommending them to anyone in need of a roof or major home improvement project.

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.
The cost to replace the roof of a commercial building typically ranges from $5 to $12 per square foot, depending on several factors such as roof size, material, labor rates, building type, and local code requirements.
Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.
Roof leak repair cost generally ranges from $300 to $800, depending on the size and location of the leak, the materials required, and labor intensity. Complex leaks involving structural repairs or interior damage will cost more.
Flat roof repair cost for commercial properties usually ranges from $500 to $3,000, depending on the roofing material (TPO, EPDM, PVC), the extent of the damage, and roof accessibility.
Mobile home roof replacement cost typically ranges from $3,000 to $8,000, making it generally more affordable than traditional home roof replacements, due to smaller size and simpler structure.
It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.
The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.
To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.
Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.
When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.
Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
