We are very happy with the work Yarkee Roofing did for us. Recent down poor and tight as a drum. When choosing shingle colors make sure you visit homes with those colors on them. We were surprised at how different they look in real life. Highly recommended.

The team at Yarkey Roofing did an excellent job replacing our town house roof which required extensive cut-ins to our neighbors existing roof. The replacement was accomplished in the timeframe they prescribed and the site cleanup following was exceptionally thorough. While my dogs weren't as enthusiastic about the process (my good boys barked extensively to make sure the invaders on the roof couldn't get in!!), the final result was perfect.

I am the owner of Gladius Solar, a solar company in the Hampton Roads Area. The end result - a brand new 50 year warrantied GAF roof that the homeowner paid $0 out of pocket for, a timely delivery of services, and another home saved from rising electric costs. What I found with Mike and his team was dependability, excellent communication and expectations set and great understanding of the work and the process. There were some unexpected bumps in the road due to rain that we came together and worked through as a team and the job got done. Mike Yarkey installed my roof 3 years ago and promptly came by when I had a leak. It turns out it was an issue with the siding not the roof. While up on the roof, he checked out my chimney and sealed some holes that were in the metal. He was friendly, professional, and went over and above to help & reassure me. Yarkey Roofing just finished a roofing job for my son's home. It was a big repair, as there was significant wood rot and very old shingles to remove and replace. Mike Yarkey, owner, was quick to respond to our initial request for an estimate and did a very thorough inspection upon arrival. We recently had Yarkey replace our roof as it was 21 years old and starting to deteriorate. Yarkey did a great job an we highly recommend them. They did quality work and they cleaned up afterwards. In the middle of the job, when the weather turned out to be worse than forecasted, they worked to a point where they could button up the house, and this caused no problems/leaks. They were back as soon as the weather cleared. The crew was hard working, polite, and friendly. The foreman, Chad, was there multiple times everyday and he made sure the job was done correctly. We think we got a great value on this roof replacement and we are very happy with Yarkey.

Yarkey Roofing hit all the buttons. They kept us well-informed ahead of time about their arrival, showed up on time, answered questions and we were left with a great new roof at a great price. Yarkey Roofing is without a doubt the best roofing company in the area! When we noticed a leak in our house over the weekend our first step on Monday morning was to call Yarkey and asee if they could come out. Being that the area had experienced a tropical storm the previous Friday, we were nervous and knew it would be an incredibly busy Monday morning for them. They returned our message promptly, assured us that we were a priority to them, and were able to get a technician out within a couple hours. Not only was the technician respectful and knowledgeable, but he was able to assure us that our roof was intact and that the issue was not related to our roof. (Issue ended up being plumbing and not storm related). Terri in the office was so friendly and understanding throughout the process, and instantly made me feel better on what I'm sure was a busy and stressful day for her. Choosing Yarkey as our roofing company was one of the best decisions we've made and I would reccoment them to anyone.

Yarkey roofing did an amazing job on my roof repair. The previous contractor had not done the job the correct way and my roof started splitting apart. They came out quickly to give me a fair estimate and were back to repair my roof as promised. This was not just a small patch…The job required a lot of wood replacement across the entire width of my roof and new shingles. It looks seamless and the work is so well done, you can’t even tell the repair was made. I highly and wholeheartedly recommend Yarkey to anyone who needs a roof repair or replacement. Quality work at a fair price!

BEWARE ! Roofing season I don’t like having to write a review this harsh but I like less being lied to and have a business do inferior poor quality work. I waited a few weeks to think about it. But it’s factual and supported by photos. I use these reviews to help me choose a business and know others do as well. GAF CERTIFIED CONTRACTOR and when I contacted GAF they didn't seem to care.
I had my homes roof done by Yarkey’s Roofing of Yorktown Va. The roof was shingled with a flat roof (TPO) section as well. Mike Yarkey the owner came out, very likable and did an estimate and says don’t pay until satisfied. That means when he’s satisfied although you won’t see him again.
Upon completion the foreman Chad came to inspect and if you aren’t able or don’t know what to look for you have to take their word it was done correctly. I was able and went up with the foreman to inspect. We found a section of flat roof everyone knew the wood was rotten (critical) was still soft. Then we inspected the shingled roof. It appeared the crew had not installed all the required underlayment (critical). So the foreman asked the crew who lied without hesitation and said they had done the wood repair and installed the underlayment. Upon further inspection it was revealed they had roofed over rotten wood and did not install underlayment on over half of the shingled roof.
They had to tear up a 10x10 area of new flat roof and over half of the new shingled roof to fix the intentional shortcuts they had lied about.
After that repair I inspected again only to find they left some nails out of every shingle they had replaced. They sent the same lead guy who did it and he tried to tell me that it didn’t need all the nails. So the foreman had to come out and go over the whole roof looking for missing nails.
Mike Yarkey the owner was nowhere to be seen during this so I had to request him to call me. His response to me was “I can’t change you had a bad experience” that’s it. Yarkey Roofing uses one crew and still does and has for 15 years according to the owner Mike Yarkey so if you choose him you will get the same crew I had.

Since my experience, 5 neighbors have had their roofs replaced in one day. The company's they used were Bass / Pyramid and Thomas, all good choices

This will be my last comment on this review my account is true, accurate supported by photos. Yarkey’s version is what he was told. This is simple his crew intentionally took multiple critical shortcuts and got caught. Yarkey admits that. There was a lack of supervision from Chad the Foreman Yarkey admits that. The crew tried to lie there way out of it but not to me. Yarkey’s crew lied to Chad Foreman and Yarkey the owner that’s a fact. This resulted in them having to tear off over half of a brand new roof. A 2nd inspection was done and it was discovered the crew again took shortcuts by leaving nails out of every shingle they had replaced. Again the crew returned and tried to tell me that it didn’t need all the nails.Do what? I told them that this was the last time they would be on my roof and was watching them work of course Chad the Foreman wasn’t there. They became frustrated with me watching and packed up to leave without finishing and tried to leave me on the roof by intending on removing ladder before I realized it. Chad the Foreman and 2 guys had to come next day and go over the whole roof and put missing nails in. A 1 day job took 2 and half weeks of stress and inconvenience to complete to Yarkey’s satisfaction . Yarkey considers this professional behavior? There’s nothing else to say except what he told me over the phone “I can’t change you had a bad experience”. As far as my review I said I wanted to be able to leave a good review but could not. If 7 men half my age were menaced by me observing and expecting a job done correctly I accept my 1 star rating. If you use Yarkey's Roofing, you're taking a risk of trouble and poor workmanship. Owner, Mike, will never return to see.

I have contracted them to replace my roof after consulting multiple roofing companies. They have been very accommodating as well as pleasant.

This company was everything you could want in dealing with any business. We had a family emergency in another state and couldn’t be available when they did the roof. They installed, moved furniture, and restored things back to original placement. Everything was clean and the roof looked beautiful. May God bless these people.

Yarkey Roofing just installed a new roof on our house. We found them through a recommendation, and we are so glad we did! Our roof was actually leaking and the company responded very quickly, in a matter of days. They were professional, courteous, and showed genuine concern for our satisfaction that far exceeded our expectation. From the owner who wrote up the estimate and to the always reachable project manager and the crew that did the installation, every single person was a joy to work with. Their pricing is fair, and to our surprise they stand so much behind their product/work that no payment was due until after the final clean up. Great warranties as well. Two years ago, we had a great experience when Yarkey Roofing replaced our entire roof. Recently, after heavy rains, we noticed some moisture and stains inside the house around a second story skylight. I called Terri (Office Manager), who again responded cordially and quickly. She asked Mike Yarkey to come out and look at the problem, even though we were out of town at the time. Mike called before, during, and after the visit to discuss the diagnosis of the problem and confirm it had been fixed. (Evidently, a branch had fallen and damaged the seal around the skylight.) It is rare these days to get such friendly, competent, and responsive service. It is without hesitation that I endorse Yarkey Roofing. I was referred to Yarkey from a friend who has worked with them. The quote was given by the owner who was super knowledgeable and not pushy. The company did an outstanding job from start to finish. The owner developed a bid and the cost was as specified in the bid. Weather had intervened between the originally scheduled day and the day the work was done, but the company stayed in close touch and we worked out a day to get the job done. On the day of installation, the work crew started at 0700 and worked until finished at 1800 on a cold (for Virginia) winter day. I'm very pleased with the work and the company.

Ryan Bundy was the repair guy who Yarkey Roofing sent out on Dec 31, 2019. He was competent and professional and we are grateful, to have our roof repaired. Ryan was good about explaining the repairs needed and took photos of our roof problem and chimney so that he could give us a visual to go along with his verbal explanation.

Company contracted to roof the townhouse I'm renting. Came home from work and they had shingles all throw down on my grill and smoker. Thrown onto my motorcycle and ripped the cover and put scratches in saddle bag. When confronting employees they acted like no one was able to speak English. Employee was wearing a Yarkey roofing beanie or else I would not have known company. All vans are run down without any identifiers which drove through backyards a day after heavy rains and left huge ruts. Seems as though employees give no regard to property. Called company phone several times without answer. Hope others have a better experience.

Left a voice message on their machine, and they promptly called back. Their website states they do: Leak Repairs, Roof Maintenance, Storm & Wind Damage Repair, but the lady I spoke with said, "not at this time". My suggestion would be to ensure your website match what your services truly are. If at a certain time of year, you only do a specific service, have your webmaster place that there so it won't be a waste of your time or the person seeking the services you advertised.

In September of 2018, our 100+ year old original tin-shingled roof (finally) failed in multiple places on our Seaford home. Particularly troubling since it seems like we all live in a tropical rain forest of late. Not knowing where to begin, I posted an inquiry for “good roofers” on the Next Door app and received numerous helpful recommendations very quickly. I contacted and/or received estimates from five of these roofers and decided upon Yarkey Roofing.

Mike Yarkey answered the phone when I called. He immediately satellite-googled our home and was able to begin scoping the project just by viewing those images and asking pointed questions. He understood our desires for wanting to remain true to the home’s century-old visage and was sympathetic to my anxiety from realizing we would need to remove the beautiful pressed tin shingled roof and start over. Mike provided numerous options. We finally agreed on using a high end “Old World” style GAF 50 year shingle on our main roof with copper flashing and valleys; and a copper raised seam roof on the wrap-around porch.

I could not be more pleased! Mike’s crew was on time, pleasant, polite, respectful of our property, and had all tin shingles removed by Noon on the first day! Our roof has a 12x12 pitch and quite a bit of square footage so it is not a small feat, nor an easy roof to navigate. The main roof was done in three days, and the porch roof water tight in preparation for the copper panels. Mike’s copper artist, Chad, spent about a week and a half installing the beautiful copper panels and flashing on the porch roof. All of Mike’s team have an A+ work ethic; they arrive early, work all day (never saw them breaking for anything and I work from home!), and took extra care of our property and cleaned up every day.

I highly recommend Yarkey Roofing. I work in Facilities Management and he and his crew are Best In Class as far as I’m concerned. Bravo!

Mr. Yarkey completed my roofing job recently. It looks even better than I expected. During the process in which Yarkey bid on the job he was able to show me the materials he would use, and photos of what the materials would look like when installed. I obtained 9 bids and Mr. Yarkey was the only roofer who arrived organized, promptly and had unknowingly earned the job before he even left my home.
His crew was efficient, courteous and the owner himself showed up to not only inspect the job post completion, but also helped his crew clean my property of all debris. If I ever require additional roofing work, I won't even consider calling anyone else.

10 stars! Mike came over the same day I called him about my leaky skylights. I still didn't even get a call back three weeks later from three other local competitors. Mike was honest, fair, genuine nice guy, and finished the job $300 under the proposal. Only roofing company I will use!

I have had 1/2 dozen contractors doing various work in my home from flooring to kitchen renovation and have grown apprehensive about selecting the right contractor. After meeting Mike, he went over exactly what I could expect, from quality of roofing materials, warrantee along with educating me on the roofing systems I was purchasing. Did a great job and got it done quickly. The owner only works with his own one crew, not like other people who just sub your work out. I wasn't there to see them working, but my neighbors who are retirees say they worked hard and knew what they were doing.

We had a great experience with our recent repair. We reported a leak in our roof and within 24 hours Mike and his crew were at our house and made the necessary repairs with the proper matching shingles.
