Ed and his team are unmatched! Estimate was honest and at a great price. Work was done promptly and I couldn't be happier with the results.

We found Edward when we had an emergency leak situation, and has performed other work for us since, including the addition of a vent ridge. Edward is pleasant, comes when he says he will, does what he says he will, charges fairly, and is great to work with. I have the highest recommendations for Chittenden Builders.

Hired them for some urgent roof repairs. They were able to get it done quickly and at a fair price. Very thorough and knowledgeable.

Ed responded quickly and was very informative. Came to look over a roof with a possible leak. He wasn't able to locate one but the Ridge cap was loose and he offered to add a few nails at no charge for the visit. He didn't have to do that but it was appreciated.

We had a chronic small leak in our roof. After trying several other companies without returned calls, I contacted C.B. at 11am on a Thursday and set up a time to stop by the same day when I returned from work. He was timely, friendly, professional and climbed up on our roof to add flashing and caulking at the source of the leak. Trying to find someone to fix our leak has been a frustrating process and C.B. restored my faith in accessing quality and timely home repair at a good value. I will be contacting them again for future projects!

Had a great experience with Chittenden Builders, we had a small leak in our roof around the chimney and had been trying to get someone to come take a look for a bit but others weren’t answering/returning calls or weren’t taking on smaller jobs but Chittenden Builders answered the phone and came out same day to take a look and repaired my leak within an hour. Phenomenal job! Definitely recommend!

Edward and team went above and beyond to make to find and fix the assorted storm damage on my very challenging roof. Chittenden Builders answered the phone, gave a quote within a couple days and scheduled my project in a very efficient manner. Ed the project manager was very pleasant and for the most part answered mine and my wife’s calls if not we had a return call within 24 hours. Our project (roof replacement, light framing and gutter replacement) was a scary thing to walk through and Ed and his team made it feel like he was family and friends coming to help eliminate these worries and troubles my family and I were going threw. They were informative and professional throughout. Next project we have we know what number we will be dialing. These people a crooks! Did not do the work I paid them in advance for. Now they won’t answer my calls.
They caused a scene in my driveway when a disgruntled employee accused them of stealing tools.
All in all a complete nightmare. And now we have to go to court to get our money back.
Stay clear of this company!

The asphalt roof and flashing turned out okay. When it came to pick up, finishing the job, and communication, the work was subpar and is the reason I gave them 2-star distinction.
The work was originally quoted 3 days. Some adds to the work were OSB sheathing because my original sheathing was in bad shape, and one of my fascia boards were knocked off during the project. Understand, my house is old and there is wood decay. The work was also done in a time of year with variable weather. However, neither of these factors excuse the lack of communication.
My take on my situation: Ed and crew started March 10th and the asphalt roof was finished March 23. At that point, all that needed to be done was tool and yard clean up, and the fascia board needed to be painted and installed. The ladders were up, and Ed agreed to paint and install the facia board. The board was bought. When they left on March 23rd after I paid in full, the ladders and hoses were up, and compressors were on my porch. In my mind they were coming back to put the facia board up and clean up. My driveway was still not being used because of nails strewn about. I can park on the street. Eventually a truck would come, grab a compressor and leave. Then days after that the ladders came down, and some other tools picked up till most were gone. No update or communication about people entering the property. On April 10th I texted Ed (see snip), birds were constructing nests in my open attic. By then I did yard cleanup for myself so I could use my driveway.
Overall, Ed seems okay(?) with leaving me with an opened-up attic, subpar pickup, and ignoring communication. They left some boxes of hardware and pieces of scaffolding on the roof, a broom, and scraps from the job. I cannot get ahold of Ed. I hired them in the first place to do a complete job. I have a “10-year workmanship warranty” included. However, Ed will not respond to any of my calls and texts so I am unsure how that will work out if anything comes up. At this point I will paint and install the facia board and get the gear off my roof. The way the project ended has left me disappointed. I will not recommend Chittenden Builders to others.

Ed helped us out with demo debris removal. He’s been working on another job across the street but kindly offered to lend us a hand. We appreciated this gesture so much! Saved us a lot of time and effort.

Recommend Ed as an honest, hardworking person and Chittenden Builders overall. They did a nice job on our neighbor’s roof.

Best home improvement money I've spent in a while. Just wish I had more projects for them to do right now!

I called around for estimates on replacing a small section of roof over the entry way to the basement. Yes, it was a small job but Ed was prompt and thorough in all his communication. He was also very reasonably priced. He provided insight into 'best practices' that I didn't get from other big name companies in the area. Instead of spending 3x as much on the latest in flat roof material technology from another company, he pitched the roof and installed tried and true shingles. It both looks and functions better at a fraction of the cost.

This is the kind of advice and vision I was hoping I'd get from a professional and Ed and team delivered.

Ed came out to patch a hole left in my roof after removal of the chimney. He showed flexible by willing to take the job despite it's being a small job and without a well defined start time. He described well the materials we could provide to help the job run more smoothly. He was responsive, communicative, and polite.

Terrible service- Ed came out to check on the scope of work needed for our small reno we were looking to do. He was 2.5hrs late, but we decided to move ahead anyway and scheduled for him to come out the following Monday through Thursday to do the work. I run a home business and had to clear that week of all business in order to accommodate the builders but they never showed up and never even bothered to call to cancel or explain why. I left several messages and never got a call back. I do not recommend this company.

Ed was able to give me a fair estimate very quickly. After getting the written estimate and agreeing to the price and scope of work (which included removing a metal chimney), he was able to get the roof on the house, the garage and covered porch finished in two days. The gutters were cleaned out and dumpster removed quickly. The entire project only took 4 days. When I stopped by on the second day, the guys were polite and answered all my questions. Very happy and would recommend him.

Ed was very knowledgeable and great to work with on getting my roof replaced this winter. His team was curtious and the the new roof install was professional and done quicky (especially for being 20 degrees!). I would recommend these guys to anyone that wants a great roor replacement for a fair price.

Dealing with contractors is such a hassle. Most of them don't answer the phone or return phone calls. Don't even think about using email or texts; they go to a black hole. Chittenden Builders is not most contractors. Ed at Chittenden Builders responded quickly when I emailed him, sent me his estimate via email, and he actually texts! He and his crew did a great job at a fair price. I'm already asking him to give me estimates for more work.

Ed was honest, timely and got the my roofing job done with quilaity craftsmanship. Couldn't expect anything more from a contractor!

He stopped by quickly to look over the job, gave a very fair estimate and started work when he said he would. He and the crew worked very hard. Not only is the new roof an excellent job, but he was more than willing to do a few extra things, was always friendly and accommodating and kept the work site in meticulous order. I had inquired with Ed Brown from Chittenden Builders in the fall of 2014 to put a new roof on my house in Burlington. I received a timely estimate for the work at a great price. Ed used quality materials, and was able to complete the project very fast, even came in on Sunday to get it started. Our lake house had been in need of siding for several years when we started looking for contractors. We were very happy we chose Chittenden Builders. Once the project was underway there was some underlying damage to the framing of our home. Chittenden Builders communicated with us, photographed the damage and repairs throughout the process, sent the photos via eamil and phone, and then completed the project properly after receiving our approval. We were very pleased with how this was handled as we live in another state and were not there to oversee the job.

I am writing this as a letter of referral for Chittenden Builders who responded immediately to a tragedy after the Hurricane Irene Floods. The crew worked 10-12 hours a day 7 days a week for weeks to get an entire business complex back to a functional condition allowing several businesses to get back up and running. This assisted in providing the ability for so many families to get back to work. The whole crew worked long hours and went above and beyond to assist everyone involved with so many different aspects of working through the devastation of the flood. They volunteered time for moving and cleaning to assist some of the businesses without compensation while doing the job.
