Charles just finished our project and we are happy with the results. He does nice tile work! There were some delays to our start due to a variety of unexpected circumstances, but communication was okay and we were able to reach a mutually agreeable solution.

We had Charles install a full, turnkey bathroom, from bare, unfinished floor to final product. I called multiple local services but felt Charles was the most straightforward and he made the most effort to really listen to and understand what we wanted. He was helpful and professional through every step of the process and stuck to everything that he outlined from our initial conversation. We appreciated his willingness to work through our needs, even if it meant some last-minute tweaks while choosing paint, tile, etc. He also lent his expertise for a few questions I had about the rest of our house. We are super happy with the finished product and would love to work with CVRS in the future.

CVRS is wonderful! Charles does amazing work. He remodeled my master bathroom floor and shower. Turned my basic builder-grade flooring and shower/tub insert into an awesome experience! I can't wait to hire them again for my next project.

CVRS renovated an old tub/shower in our master bath into a beautiful new walk-in shower. I feel like I live in a fancy hotel now! They did an awesome job, on time and on budget -- we'll be bringing them back for future work!

Charles just finished up some major renovations to my rental house which was built back in the 1950s. I didn’t have a clue what all I needed to do and I changed my mind constantly and kept adding to the list of what I wanted done. He was very patient and led me in the right direction. He even help me pick out colors fixtures and made suggestions. His expertise was so valuable. Since the house was old and nothing was level or square, he had a lot of challenges, but never complain. I would highly recommend him and will even use him in the future for some upgrades to my house.

We chose CVRS to remodel our 20+ year old kitchen, which included scraping of popcorn ceiling, leveling of the new ceiling, installation of recessed lighting, removal of a laundry closet, removal of soffits, cabinet installation, and a tile backsplash. Charles listened to our ideas and priorities, provided knowledgeable feedback, and collaborated with our kitchen designer. Throughout the process, Charles was professional and clearly communicated that our satisfaction was his priority. He was flexible and demonstrated excellent problem solving when unexpected situations occurred. While our remodel took longer than originally anticipated, we are delighted with our beautiful new kitchen!

Absolutely fantastic job by Charles Grandstaff. I asked Charles to pick the tile and the colors. He handled everything. The bathroom turned out even better than I hoped for.

CVRS just renovated our dated yellow condo bathroom. First, Charles reviewed pictures, and discussed possibilities over the phone. I was impressed with his professionalism and detailed recommendations, so arranged a meeting in person. He took his time discussing ideas, then promptly returned a detailed estimate and contract via email. He listened to my ideas, offered adaptations to those ideas that I hadn’t thought of, and finally incorporated both into the final project. I appreciated his patience and flexibility, and then returning, in the end, to be sure every detail was complete. (We trusted him enough to do the renovation while we were away for two weeks!) We plan to have him do our master bath, as well!

Master bath redo was a must! It is a small space and original to the house (1966). Charles was able to give a fair estimate without any hidden “surprise” costs. He took the bathroom down to stud work and rebuilt it. The hardest part of this process was picking the palette! Jeremy and Riley were great as well. Overall I am extremely pleased and plan to have them back for another bathroom re-do!

Charles did an excellent job remodeling my master bathroom. He communicated with me very well throughout the whole project. He made me aware of where he was in the project constantly and provide valuable information and recommendations to get the most bang for my buck. I would recommend Charles to anyone and for any project. I will have Charles come back to do my other remodeling projects in the future!

Charles and Jeremy renovated a bathroom for my Father. They did an awesome job. My Dad is a senior and Charles took time to listen to what Dad needed and addressed all his concerns. We couldn't be more pleased. The bathroom is beautiful. Thank you, Charles!

Charles and Jeremy did a great job installing a mailbox at our new house. Fast, friendly, and efficient. We look forward to having them do additional projects for us.

We needed our master bath redone from wall to wall. Charles was very friendly and got the job done for a fair price. He was very detail oriented and if anything wasn't up to his standards he was quick to fix it without input from us. The job did take longer than expected but many of the delays were caused by granite or vanity installs that we used other contractors for. Before and after photos below.

Charles and Jeremy were AMAZING every single day they worked on our project! They were like family, we loved having them here with us. So many things were custom made by them in our kitchen and the ideas they came up with were always in line with what we ultimately wanted. Storage/Function/Form in that order. They MORE than delivered on every aspect of our renovation. The custom stain on our butcher countertops are gorgeous! Everyone who sees it want to know where we got them from. I’m so in love with my new kitchen and custom island and awesome pantry and functional laundry area. I’m so happy with all our new storage! I’m just SO HAPPY! We’re saving up to have Charles and Jeremy renovate our guest bathroom next! He even saved me some tile pieces from our kitchen floor so I could have the pleasure of OBLITERATING them while cackling madly! I HATED that tile and LOVE the LVP flooring they put in for me! And look at my Evergreen Fog cabinets! And my custom range hood! SQUEEE!!! Highly recommended! PS: Seamus, Abi, Phantom, and Houdini say HI! They miss you guys like we do!

Charles and Jeremy did exceptional work in a series of renovations we had done to our basement and bathrooms in our 50+ year old house. While I believe the before and after pictures speak for themselves, I want to provide a little more detail about what puts CVRS in the ‘goes above and beyond category.’

Being first-time homeowners, my husband and I knew very little about renovations and repair. Charles was always patient and kind in answering our many, many questions about the various processes. He embodies the attitude of ‘if you’re going to do it, do it right,’ and was honest and fair in explaining how much work something would require and what that would cost. When he encountered the quirks of our old plumbing and crooked walls, he didn’t speed through or ignore them—he took the time to show us what the issue was, why it was a problem, and presented a solution to fix it.

Further, we discovered we had a leak in one of the walls of our sunroom. While the exterior contracting company dragged their feet, Charles took the time to do a flood test and discovered that the windows and had been flashed improperly (something the other people didn’t do, even when we finally got them to come). It’s because of this that we were finally able to get the other company to fix it and save the wall integrity in process. I can’t fully put into words what a relief it was to have someone take our concerns seriously and act on them.

In short, we recommend them with no reservations; in fact, we’re planning to have them do more work going forward. Charles and Jeremy—thank you so much for all your hard work! You’ve really helped make our house a home, and we’re looking forward to having you back soon!

Charles put in a two bedroom two bath laundry and full kitchen in our basement. It turned out beautiful. Charles is honest, reliable and fair priced.

I had Central Virginia Residential Services to remodel a bathroom in a 55+ year old house. They did an outstanding job. They listen to what I wanted and went above and beyond what I expected!! They got the work done in a timely manner. The end product is absolutely beautiful!!! Honest and dependable workers. Love it!!!

Charles is a true professional. Honest, transparent, excellent craftsmanship, superior attention to detail. He completely remodeled our master bathroom, moving plumbing, electric, and walls, created a "wet room" (shower/tub combo), and custom-built our walk-in closet. Results are spectacular. He's easy to talk to, easy to work with, and had some great ideas that made the finished product even more polished. I plan to have him come back later this year for more projects; he's a pleasure to work with and does an outstanding job.

Charles was so detail oriented and precise while installing my kitchen tile backsplash. It looks fantastic and I couldn't be happier. You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows. Charles has been wonderful! We started with small repairs and he quickly gained my trust with his professionalism, work ethic, and craftsmanship. We now have beautiful new flooring, superior trim-custom, and custom built entry trim (I’m so in love with this), a new door, custom built new cabinet faces, and custom island facing. I highly recommend Charles for any home remodeling! I am still scheduling new projects with him. He provides quotes for his services, sticks to his word, and is prompt and honest. I give extra kudos because he cleans up before he leaves! No dust or mess left behind. He has gone above and beyond my expectations. CVRS has earned every bit of 5 stars.

My mother's home repair and remodeling project was handled beautifully by Charles. He was patient, and listened to what she wanted and explained things as each step of the project progressed. If a snag came up he quickly consulted her with several options about how we might handle it. He is honest, hardworking, thorough, professional, and I would highly recommend him to any of my family and friends.

Our home was built in 1950. After working with Lowes (big failure), calling 5 contractors (2 of which said they would do it, none of which returned our call, 4 from the BBB site), we were able to get Charles on the phone. We were ready to give up but Charles was able to get to our house within 48 hours to provide an estimate. We knew we needed a new frame and we wanted a new door of our choice. Charles agreed to do it. The work would involve taking off the storm door, destruction of the old frame, building a new frame and threshold, taking a slab door, drilling all holes, and mounting and putting the storm door back on. Which, by the way, the reason the storm door would never close properly was because Lowes installed the side strips upside down. Charles fixed that. Charles picked up the door, did all the work, all while working under COVID type conditions. He kept us fully informed during the installation, stopping to ask questions along the way, to make sure we were fully satisfied. He even took the door to the paint shop so we would have touch up paint before the door was installed. It took some time, but he got it done. We are so happy with our new door. If you need someone for custom work, this is your man. Craftsman like this are getting harder and harder to find. If your home was built before 1960 you may need some one with his background to work on certain parts of your home which may have been built to an older standard. Of course, Charles does all the regular work required for modern homes. He will be installing another door in our home soon. I highly recommend him if you need remodeling our installation work completed in your home.

Horrible experience. Would never recommend this company to anyone. They don't return calls in a timely matter, in fact we were ignored for almost 48 hours before anyone decided to get in touch with us. We were told our problem would be fixed by Friday evening or worst case by Sat afternoon if the part ordered was late on arrival. Almost a week later and we still have no oven. Supposedly he is on his way here now but he told us Sat after he blew us of that he would be here between 9-10 am. It's 10:20 and still no service technician. It seems this area is in desperate need of a company with a work ethic that is actually helpful and honest to their customers instead of being overwhelmed with the work you do have to the point of horrible customer service and service in general. Hopefully other people will have better luck since we seemed to have gotten the short end of your busy stick and will never use this service again.

I'm updating this because of the owners response and lack of acknowledgement for bad customer service. The work order in question was actually assigned Wednesday. We have the e-mails showing you were assigned to us. We also called you via your cell phone we were provided with that same day. We were ignored. Thursday our property manager is frantically trying to find someone else because she had assumed that you had come to fix it Wednesday or at the very least had contacted us to let us know when you would be coming. We are finally able to get the part ordered from you when you decide to get in touch with us Thursday at lunch time with the assurance that it will be there Friday or at the very least Saturday morning for you to repair it. We had to contact you at the end of the day Friday to find out an ETA on the part. There was no customer service from start to finish. And saying on here that you were assigned to us Friday when we spoke and ordered the part Thursday is just dishonest. I'm sympathetic to the covid issue. My father works in a hospital back home in Seattle. But using that as a delay in your work while forcing people to go out during this time to buy prepared food because I can't make it at home for your lack of work and customer service is sad.

I had a dry wall that was in desperate need of being replaced. Charles fit my project into his busy post-holiday schedule and we are extremely happy with his work. He took the time to explain the process and the total cost of the project with clarity and efficiency. His projected timeline for the project was met and we now have a beautiful looking wall. I would recommend CVRS for any home project.

I have had the pleasure of working with CVRS both as a professional property manager and in my personal home and rental. Charles, the owner, is kind, professional and good at having common sense solutions to your home problems. He is honest and not out to “nickel and dime” homeowners, but will be very up front about the severity or urgency of an issue. His response and turn around time is quick with high quality work to support the speed/effort. Charles has helped me with home appliances as well as handy man jobs for a reasonable and fair price. I highly recommend his company if you are looking for a local business owner who will do a good job and give you a good deal for the workmanship provided.

Charles and his team spent just over a week installing a privacy fence in my yard. The team installing the fence had great attitudes but the job kept getting pushed back because "there were more important jobs" to be completed, causing it to take much longer than expected.

Charles installed the latches for our gates and neglected to install a latch that allows us to get in and out of the yard from either side. His solution was to tie a string and toss it over the fence for us to pull. This resolution quickly failed, as the strings broke and the latches turned out to be installed with screws that were too short, causing them to become misaligned.

He also mentioned that we "got lucky" that we didn't get charged for the hinges like we should have and that he paid for them out of pocket. The hinges that were installed were screwed into nothing and the parts that are screwed in, are causing the wood to splinter around it.

After various calls to Lowe's and Charles to get then back out to fix the issues, he came back and fixed one latch and then went on vacation, according to the corporate office. I've been trying to get them to fix these issues for almost a month now with no resolution.

I don't recommend using Lowe's Contracting Services or CVRS.

Charles replaced my outside door this weekend. He did a great job. The door was an odd size and in a difficult location. It looked great and I am very pleased. I will definitely hire Charles again.

Charles reinforced my wall to hang my 65” Visio tv when no one else would touch it! He is the guy when you need some custom work!
