We’ve been in our new Craig home for a year and a half and are extremely pleased with our house and with Craig. The customer representative who worked with us during the building process was very helpful and patient with all our questions, as was Lindsay in the Design Studio. After move in, Ross Wenger, our project manager, was terrific – friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He and his skilled crew handled every issue that we had promptly and expertly. Even after the warranty period, Ross has kindly answered any questions we have had. Craig builds quality homes, their staff is first-rate, and we highly recommend them.

The entire Craig team was awesome. Ross W managed a great construction team that finished the house on the exact day it was promised. Our neighbors are happy that the construction moved briskly and that the house compliments the beautiful and established neighborhood. The placement of the house on our lot is perfect and was well thought out by the Craig team. The craftsmanship, inside and out, is excellent. We are proud to show our home and host friends and family.

With a background as an engineer who has built two prior architect-designed custom-builder homes, I can say that my current experience working with the Craig building team was equally professional and satisfying. Working with T. J. was a pleasure as he made the Craig semi-custom design system a virtual custom design incorporating my many unique requests. The post-building follow-up by Alan to correct the inevitable new-house glitches has been equally superb. Highly recommended.

At the Design Center, we had the pleasure of working with Lindsey Craft, whose expertise and upbeat approach made decisions around lighting, plumbing, tile, carpeting, and countertops both seamless and enjoyable.

Once construction commenced, Project Manager Ross Wenger became our go-to resource. Ross managed every detail with precision—from coordinating the work of craftsmen and contractors to addressing our many questions and requests. His dedication extended well beyond closing, and his responsiveness and support throughout the process were outstanding.

Having previously built a custom home, we can confidently say this experience far exceeded our expectations. Craig built our house in 2022 and we could not be happier. We closed on the exact date stated in our original contract many months later with no surprises or issues of any kind from start to finish. Alan Witt and T.J. Southmayd were our primary points of contact and I highly recommend working with them as well. Even as a semi-custom home builder, Craig successfully implemented all of our change order requests without hesitation...also the post-closing walk-thru warranty process has been incredibly pleasant. It is clear that reputational value is paramount to Craig, and its customers are treated as people rather than numbers, which shows in every aspect of their service.

Kudos to Craig Builders and their Production Manager, Chase Williams, for their commitment to integrity and quality customer service…and their willingness to stand behind their work. Recently, they were willing to address an issue that arose well after we purchased our home. We are beyond pleased with how quickly they responded to our call and professionally mitigated the issue.

I can't recommend Craig Builders enough! We chose to build a home in a Craig community because of their flexibility and willingness to work with us in terms of customizing the home (semi-custom) within the parameters of what they could do with the model/lot. It was a very smooth process and all the various Craig staff we came in contact with along the way were helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Our rep was Tim, and he's a fantastic resource.

We had a wonderful experience designing and building our home through Craig. First, we really like the look of the Craig Homes. They come with larger windows and many upgraded features compared to production builders.We were able to customize many aspects of our home so that it met our needs. For instance, we easily reconfigured the master bathroom, expanded our patio and even the size of our master closet. We appreciate the quality of the construction as well. We also really liked how many standard quality features were included, and that the design center was not overwhelming (or outrageously expensive) compared to other builders we have dealt with. I don't write many reviews, but after hearing all of the issues our friends and families have had with building a house, I knew I had to write one for CB. To start with, the house they built us was actually finished on the EXACT day they promised! From the initial meetings with TJ and his creative ideas for us, to Lindsay's expert advice and guidance at the design center, we could not have been happier with the whole process. But the most amazing part has been the service we have received from Ross since our house closed. He is friendly, professional and follows through on what he promises. Although our house is very well built, there are always little things that come up and Ross makes us feel like anything we need done is no problem at all. Wow! Of all the people we have worked with in building our home 8 years ago and now maintaining our home, our project manager Alan Witt deserves a special shout out. To this day 8 years in, he still responds to our questions regarding General maintenance issues. He truly is an asset to Craig Builders. As far as Craig Builders is concerned, we could not be more pleased. Craig Builders has been on top of several issues that came up well after the warranty period and completed the repairs at no extra charge. What other builder does that???? None!! As members of Craig Builders have frequently told us, they stand behind their work because without a positive reputation, they have nothing.

We worked with Craig Builders on our dream home and the process could not have gone more smoothly. From the moment we signed the contract the entire Craig Builder's team was dedicated to making sure we felt listened to and taken care of. They answered all of our (many) questions, provided thoughtful and unique solutions to any of our needs and exceeded our expectations in terms of timing, professionalism and quality. We closed on time (to the day!) and on budget. Moreover, the post-closing process has been excellent. Since there are always little things that come up when a home is first built (mostly settling issues like nail pops, etc.) we weren't surprised that we needed some post move-in help. Our project manager, Ross, has been a great partner. Extremely responsive, professional, and just a pleasure to deal with. Could not recommend building with this team enough!

If you're building a home in the Charlottesville area, do yourself a favor and work with Craig Builders. Fantastic family run business that goes above and beyond for their clients.

Having dealt with this builder for over a year now, I am fairly comfortable in writing an accurate review. At first, we were thoroughly impressed with the company. The selling agent was very helpful (one of two reasons they get two stars) in the process and was very thorough in her approach. However, the benefits pretty much stop there. The design studio was incredibly overpriced. Lindsay was FANTASTIC (the second of two reasons they get two stars) in helping us choose our selections, but the items were marked up beyond belief.
The craftsmanship, although touted by so many people, was poor at best. The products were quality- real wood stairs, trim, moulding, high quality finishes. But the installation looked as if it had been done by high schoolers. Trim mismatched, paint splatters all over the floor as the trim had obviously been "painted" after installation, paint lines around hardware, electrical outlets cracked and crooked, the list goes on.
You do get two opportunities to "fix" these items Attempt to fix would be a better way to word that. Items on our list were forgotten, delayed and then forgotten, or done just as poorly as the original installation. One item was in fact brought up upon installation by the plumber who was told "nothing we can do now." I was told a concern for code violation was not a code violation and to not worry about it. We hired our own home inspector just to be sure and was told that was an outright lie. Our pipes froze over the holidays and a window was installed so poorly we had wind and rain leaking into our bedroom. That took over 6 months to fix.
I would be interested to see how many of these people with glowing reviews would change them after a year or two in their homes. For the price they charge for these homes, I expect better.

My first home was a Craig build, and it was a wonderful house that has held up beautifully over time! All my homeowners insurance clients who build with Craig Builders have such positive remarks time and time again! After 2 years, they are still willing to help us with anything we need. I would HIGHLY recommend them and will certainly use them in the future, should we build again.
