We’ve used the Cedar Roof Specialists in the past to maintain our cedar shake roof and we were pleased….HOWEVER… this past time they serviced our roof we are not pleased at all.
Only one man came to do the job, there should have been 2. He was at our house from 10am til dusk (beginning of May) .. what an atrocious mess. There are pieces of the old shakes everywhere, and when I say that I mean EVERYWHERE… in all the bushes and flower beds, in the driveway, in the lawn. And what was blown off the roof when cleaning is all over all the plants and bushes, the birdbath looked like waste water.
My husband spent the entire day today cleaning up the large debris but the bushes and plants will need to be hosed off…. Hopefully the mess will rinse off.
For this we pay …
There were some odd looking pieces of wood mixed in with the damaged/old shake pieces that were too large to be shakes but I wasn’t able to get an explanation for them??!!
I tried reaching the business both while the work was being done and after the guy left, then again today ( the day after) with no response at all. I feel they are very unprofessional and disrespectful.
We do not recommend this business… considering filing a report with the BBB.

Do not waste your time or money with this company.( you don't want the headache.)
They mix shake with shingles.
The placement and the size of the nails they use will destroy your roof.
They will never call back and send you to collection.
The placement of the nails are left in the open were rain and snow will travel.
That will destroy your roof.
I give them -1000 on all their work.
I give them -1000on customer service.
And there insurance is a joke they sent an insurance rep . He said that I will get a check in two weeks it's been two years.

I discovered Cedar Roof Specialists at the Yakima Home Expo. They have been wonderful to work with. The work was done quickly yet thoroughly and I'm thrilled with the life they've given my unique roof. I'll be calling them again in a couple years to continue their maintenance. It's also worth mentioning that they have a generous payment program for those that struggle with the cost. I just sent in my last payment and wanted to leave this review as a small thank you. You won't regret call them.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
