On May 23, 2025, our 2017 Dodge Ram EcoDiesel was towed to CH Urness Dodge after it was determined a recall issue caused the truck to break down. Despite being in their care for over four weeks, we received no proactive updates and constant missed time lines. We had to chase information ourselves.

The first time the truck was returned to us. The dealership attempted to charge us for fees for charging the battery. The truck was also in limp mode showing the vehicle was never test drove or quality control inspections.” This experience shows a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and disregard for the needs of the customer.

I went here for the convenience of buying maintenance parts for my vehicle. Oil filter, engine, air filter, cabin, air filter, fuel filter, and water separator. Charged me $172 over the price. I can get it from Mopar direct on Amazon. I can definitely understand wanting to make a few dollars on these parts. $20 maybe $30. But $172 is ridiculous. They don’t call them stealerships For no reason. I will definitely take my fleet business somewhere else and I recommend you do the same.

Horrible customer service left on hold to finally get put on with someone who wouldn’t listen to simple thing just arrogantly repeating robot response.

Needed my VW, yes VW Routan mini van checked out. It is essentially a rebadged Chrysler T&C or Dodge Caravan, no mechanical differences they were manufactured by Chrysler. Was told they do not and can not work on VW vehicles as tools are not same, which I totally get and 99% would be right. But not in this case, their mechanics are actually more equipped to look at my vehicle then VW would themselves potentially.

Supposedly even the owner couldn’t take 2 minutes to listen to what was going on, do quick search and see what I was trying to explain. Instead of just hearing VW and shutting me down.

I will prob come on this week or next week to try to talk with a technician show him the vehicle so can see and will know right away what I’m saying. It’ mopar.

**Disappointing Experience with C.H. Urness Motors Company**

After four visits to C.H. Urness Motors Company, we have concluded that their standard of excellence is non-existent. The most frustrating aspect of our experience has been their complete inability to communicate effectively. Their service department personnel seem to change constantly, making it impossible to establish any continuity or accountability.

Each visit has been met with miscommunication, lack of follow-up, and an overall sense that customer service is simply not a priority. We've had to repeat our concerns multiple times, only to receive vague or conflicting answers. Rather than resolving issues efficiently, their disorganized approach seems to create more frustration.

If you’re looking for a dealership that values its customers and upholds a professional standard, we cannot in good conscience recommend C.H. Urness Motors. Save yourself the headache and take your business elsewhere.

Just at this dealership, 2-11-25 to get my 2019 Ram scheduled for service, as a check light just came on. I stopped at this supposedly certified Dodge dealership with a certified Dodge service department. 1st question they asked me, "Did You buy your truck from us" My answer, "No".......Their response > It will be 3 months before we can get it in and take a look at it.......ME > "REALLY"! So I wonder if I had bought it at CH Urness, does that mean I would have gotten it right in? Oh ya not to mention one of the owners was standing right beside me during this conversation and said nothing, and sheepishly walked away quickly! So very frustrated with this interaction, I proceeded to sit in there parking lot, right in front of their showroom with same owner looking at me, and called the first dealership in Vancouver that came up on google search from my phone. Proceeded to call them, and my truck is going in tomorrow.. WOW, you guys really should re-think your business strategy over there. I am going to make a formal complaint about these guys to Ram, BBB and whom ever I can legally reach out too.
Unbelievable what you folks in the gorge have to put up with!
Also should mention to anyone whom is thinking about buying a rig from these guys, and why I haven't, I have boughten 2 brand new Ram 3500 Laramie's, with this 2019 being the second one, and my father had boughten all of his trucks from them, and he swore they were great. So I asked them to quote out both trucks I have boughten to give them a chance to earn my business but I actually got both my trucks right at 10% less from what was quoted at CH Urness versus elsewhere. I even gave them a chance to meet the lower price, and they didn't budge. Just food for thought, don't be loyal to a dealership that really is not that loyal to anyone else, buyer beware! And Yep, buying my next one real soon.
"2-18-24 Update to this post" My 2019 repair is completed and picking up today. If Urness owners and or service department actually looks at this Rant, Stats > took one week for repairs, including having all fluids changed in trany, transfer case, Front and rear differentials, at same time knowing I am paying more then I should for the dealership to do this simple service. They also found that the shifter mechanism should be replaced as it is getting loose, so I had them do that as well. All in all 6k to that dealership for getting it done.
What else, oh ya, bought a brand new 2024 Ram Laramie 3500 DRW fully loaded with a HO cummins not financed! Not sure about CH Urness's bottom line, but in my opinion you just lost a lot of money because "PREVIOUS TRUCK WAS NOT BOUGHT AT CH URNESS"
My advice if at all of value, you shouldn't turn away folks that drive these very expensive trucks, as we generally can afford them and all things pertaining to them, including replacing them as needed.

After some emergency surgeries and an amputation, we suddenly found ourselves unable to get to a critical doctor's appointment in either of our vehicles. Owen at Urness Motors found us a barely-used Honda CRV with a seat height and headroom that was perfect for transferring from a wheelchair, and exactly the right amount of cargo room to easily carry the chair in the back. He was kind enough to volunteer to drive the car all the way up our mountain road more than an hour away, just to see if it would work for us, then found financing that we could afford, too, making sure that we had medical transportation immediately. He went way above and beyond to help us, and words are completely inadequate to express our appreciation!!!

2012 Sahara JKU. 1.5 inch suspension lift.

Third time I have taken a vehicle here and third time I have gotten it back worse than I dropped it off. Paid $2800 to have the oil filter cooler housing replaced, ball joints, and an axle seal leak repaired. Once the work was done they said the jeep needed alignment and that Les Schwab could get it done. I initially asked they take it to Point S as Point S had done new tires and alignment earlier in the year and it drove amazing.

Les Schwab couldn't get the toe aligned - never had this issue - dealer picked it up and called to let me know it's not driving right. Asked for them to take it to Point S next day...they said Point S was closed, but I had just called the shop asking if they had my jeep...they said no. Not closed.

Called the dealership and they said they just spoke with Les Schwab again and they could take it there. I was so frustrated at that point I said okay. Jeep comes back with new tie rod ends on a tie rod that didn't need them. Picked it up on a Friday and it drives like it's on ice skates, steering is a mess, camber and toe way off.

Took it to Point S next morning and they said it's because the dealer installed wrong ball joints....new upper ball joints with 1 degree of camber installed. Since that time I have spent an additional $1900 so far for new upper ball joints, drag link, steering gear box, and alignment...

Should have stuck to my guns when I told them no on the ball joints initially.

Will have the jeep towed to Portland before I bring it back to Urness.

If you like to wait forever and have little to no communication with the service department, then this is the place for you. They had my truck for almost 2 months and kept giving me the runaround when I would call. In the end they very much had a "not my problem" attitude, and I ended up towing my truck to another facility to have them finish the repairs. Not only was this shop communicative, but they were also unprofessional. At one point, they even lost my truck. I would never take another vehicle here!

*** CHRYSLER REFUSED SERVICE AND TOTALLED MY CAR WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT ***
My Chrysler 2015 200's battery began to die overnight, So naturally, I went to the dealership where I bought my car to get it diagnosed, Toyota. I took my car to Toyota, and they recommended me to rather just go to Chrysler so I don't pay their diagnosis fee and OEM parts since they would source them from Chrysler anyway.
I did, The service guy at Chrysler REFUSED service to me because "The repair costs are not worth the cars value". Even though, I was 100% willing to pay their OUTRAGEOUS price of $150/hr and wait months to get it back, The guy kept increasing and increasing the price. Before mentioning my budget he said "Up to $600". I replied that I don't care, he ended up saying "It might take a full day or two" , In other words, $1,500 - $3,000 FOR A DIAGNOSIS... or maybe even more! plus parts! he stated. Again, I said, I don't care. And while I was mentioning some stuff I had read online about maybe a harness, or a system update and whatnot he turned around, left me talking alone like a dumbass and came back out stating "It's not that we don't want your business but you should just total your car"....
My car... That has 114k miles... That is only driven by my wife exactly 1.6miles a day 5 times a week and by me for exactly 4.2 miles the other 2 days to our jobs. The same car I keep immaculate and clean, The car I always keep at 100% mechanically. Holy f... the car still works perfectly amazing! and looks even better! TOTALLED?! WITHOUT EVEN BEING LOOKED AT?! It could be ONE SIMPLE WIRE, ONE HARNESS and he already TOTALLED MY CAR WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT!. HOW ABSURD.

"Not my problem"... That's what you can expect to hear from this franchise.

It's "not their problem" they've had the vehicle of a disabled veteran for OVER 20 weeks - 4.5 months and counting. It appears to be their policy to take advantage of people with limited mobility by keeping them without a vehicle forever, then trying to send the vehicle out as "complete" when work hadn't been done. It's also their policy to NEVER get in touch with customers, and to have ANYONE in management available except once a fortnight.

According to Charlie, it's also "not his job" to listen to consumer complaints, take a message, escalate the fraud, or arrange a courtesy driver to move the vehicle, and Charlie appears related to the owner - expect these standards forever. Also expect to get charged to pick up your vehicle after work has been paid simply "because the manager isn't here".

It's apparently the customer's job - not their employees - to escalate reports of fraudulent, deceptive, and all together shady happenings, so I have. You should too - the Oregon Attorney General Consumer Protection people prefer you file your complaints online.

They have had my truck for 4 months, and they keep saying that they "forgot" about it. It has a service contract, so they will be paid, but for some reason, they are ignoring my vehicle. Terrible runaround, it's not waiting for parts, they are just misleading me. BAD BUSINESS!

This was my first actual business contact after having purchased a used 2017 Dodge Ram Laramie outside of the dealership. I was seeking specific additional parts and service, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and patient with my multiple questions and needs. Both Dave and Kyle exemplify customer service as they were able to both negotiate a very busy schedule to get my vehicle serviced along with some additional needed items to be taken care of. Kyle was equally impressive with his attention to detail and his ability to answer all of my questions and get the needed items not only ordered but also programmed on the same day that I was having my vehicle serviced. This is why I support local, small town business as good customer service and business is where you find it. Guaranteed, I will be doing business with this agency in the future, and I strenuously suggest that anyone requiring service support C.H. Urness Motors, The Dalles. Thank you

I have traveled to The Dalles three times to have service done. Twice the work wasn’t done because of staff shortages. Neither time was the service department apologetic. Just seems to be part of the regular routine. I know that it is important for the service departments to get good reviews but this place doesn’t seem to care.

We had our 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 towed to C H Urness about three weeks ago. Left the warranty information along with the vehicle and was told they would get to it at the end of June. Come July, and we’re in the middle of a move across the country and we’re relying on the truck to have some progress done by the time we came back for trip 2 across the country, in which we need a running truck to complete our move. Suddenly, everything changed and the dealership no longer deals with warranties (company policy, they said). Had we known they wouldn’t honor the warranty, we wouldn’t have wasted our time with this place. Very unprofessional behavior and poor customer service (they wouldn’t return our calls, told us one thing and did another). I don’t recommend C H Urness at all. They give Dodge a bad name, and I’ll be calling the corporate office next to file a complaint, as this has cost us time and money with all the towing and gas costs associated with moving the vehicle to another Dodge dealership that will actually do their job. Avoid this place like the plague.

Purschased my Jeep a few years ago, go back for regular service, they always scheduled my appointments on the date, and time I request, even when they are short staffed they still get my oil change in a timely manner. Front desk staff is super friendly and welcoming.

Service department will not answer or return calls, turns out they're only helpful when you first purchase your vehicle.

I financed a 2016 4Runner from these guys. Only four months later, the brakes start squealing as if it needs new brakes. Now, used certified means it’s been through a thorough inspection and to see if anything needs to be fixed on it. Whoever does the “Certified Inspection” sure missed a spot. I wonder what else has been “inspected” missed. Thanks CH Urness for your honesty. I’ll be taking the 4Runner to an actual professional and I’ll be sure to post what y’all missed. Stay tuned.

This review is pending. My vehicle is currently at CH Urness for service of 2015 WK2 EcoDiesel high pressure fuel pump replacment (under extended factory warranty). The part has along lead time, and was originally quoted 70 days for part arrival with no date confirmed for actual service and replacement. My grandparents and aunt & uncle have been buy Ram, Dodge and Jeep at Urness for over 60 years with no complaints heard from them.

I was in The Dalles this morning, and my van started making a horrible noise. I went in and asked them to look at it. The guys in the service department figured it was a rock in the brakes, so they popped the wheel off and got the rock out for me. Less than 15 minutes, and free of charge. I might just start heading to The Dalles for my service work.

Good and helpful at getting my jeep warranty work done.

Edit went back for more warranty work engine running ruff, runs hot I have see it as high as 244° on the way down, the door lock button locks instead of unlocking.

Get the jeep back they put a steering damper on that I didn't want and told me I was pushing the button wrong need to push it hard on the edge to make it work.

Sorry 44k for a new jeep I shouldn't have to worry if it's going to overheat leave me somewhere and the doors not unlock to let me out.

Took their survey said the same thing, asked if I wanted a call and I answered yes. No call

I know they got the message because I ran into a ex employee and he remembered seeing my email to them and knows who was supposed to call me but never did

I want every one to know how great this place is. I was broke down, and a long long way from home my water pump went out of my Dodge truck. Towing a fifth wheel trailer, the wonderful people in there shop got me back on the road in about two hours. I couldn’t believe it they were so great, I would recommend them to anyone who needs help or needs a new car they would be the place to go. Had a truck there for estimate of repairs. Took 5 days to get estimate. The estimate was 4000 dollars higher than shop we had fix it. My bumper was damaged by them and they refused to accept responsibility or make right. They would not return calls If your looking for a car or need repairs go somewhere else.

This was a poor buying experience for me and my father. Purchased a 2014 Ram 1 Ton from them, within 8 miles I had a turnsignal go out. Drove it on a trip of a few days and tried to replace the bulb in the turn signal. Ended up making a special trip from Boise back to the Dalles to have it repaired. They took the truck into the shop and couldn't figure out what the problem was. Finally on a second 400 mile trip back to the dealership they replaced the wiring harness. Worked fine for about 3 months then both batteries died. Took it to a local dealership when the check engine light came on and found out the turbo had gone out on it and needed the actuator replaced. I called our salesman that basically said "bet you are glad you got the extended warranty". Just a month ago I finally got a dealership to figure out what the gremlin in my lights and turnsignals were....a blown Fuze which the technician I had repair it said was obviously blown and Had been for some time. I don't believe that Urness motors is knowledgeable about the vehicles they are selling and the service department I do not trust. Expect to deal with it on your own if you experience a problem.

Dang! Pulled into a rest area on I-84 just west of The Dalles, Oregon and the water pump in my '09 Dodge Ram gave up the ghost. What to do? Called Urness Chrysler Dodge to see what they could do for me. Scott Jackson, the service manager, said if I could get towed in his mechanic would take care of me. Well, getting the tow sorted wound up taking more time than anyone expected. About 3 minutes before the mechanic was to depart for the day, my truck was delivered to the dealership. Scott and his mechanic met me before the tow driver had dropped my truck. Bless his heart, the mechanic said he would stay and get me back on the road...and he did! Inside of one hour I was back to my 5th-wheel and back on the road. Great people make a great dealership! Thank you all, very much!

Both dealers in or near the east PORTLAND area were very u helpful and two weeks out to look at a check engine light on my two month old truck, Scott got me in the same day and took care of it in 20 min or LESS SERIOUSLY ALL DEALERSHIPS SERVICE SHOULD BE THIS GOOD!!!!

I took my 2014 Ram 3500 in to Urness for a bad actuator on my VGT turbo. I already knew it was the issue ahead of taking it in.
My issue I had was my warranty was getting close to expiring, so I dropped my truck off there in the beginning of May in hopes a cancellation would get it in earlier then its May 15th appointment since warranty expires on the 19th.
No luck getting in earlier but they did diagnosis the issue as described on the 15th. They told me at that time my warranty didn't expire for 12 more days, not sure on how that is since their the ones that told me the 19th originally. Either way, they said they probably couldn't get it done before the expiration. I asked how that could be and they replied they couldn't schedule it till after the expiration date. I told them I was under the impression that it was based on when the service order was opened and they said no, it's when work is complete.
So I forfeited my truck for two weeks just for them to hook it up to computer and tell me what I already knew, and wasted valuable time. That's the bad that I'll happily accept a part of the blame for.
The good part is they suggested taking it to Yakima Chrysler, which I did and they had it done in two days.
The service rep there told me it's based on when service order is open not completion but he was happy to have the work.

My suggestion if your finding yourself in this predicament, call someone else. Dont take their word for it.

I was not happy when I had to tow my vehicle out of there they didn't even put it back together left parts in my front seats and all my spark plugs were left under the hood in a cap loosly I could have lost all those in the towing they charged me to take it apart and notput it back together I took it to them before and was happy must have people working there that know nothing of how I business should be run very unprofessional.

I just dropped off my Boss to pick up his work truck today. We didn't discuss what he had done to it, or even if there was a problem with it. For all I know, he might have just getting some maintenance done on his truck. I DO know the owners of CH Urness though. I grew up with the entire family, although not a close friend of the family. They are All honest and competent people. I've known most all of them for around 40 years or more. Good people, the Urness'.
