Blackburn Chimney was a fantastic experience from start to finish! My consult before the quote with Eddie was very satisfying because he's a straight shooter and very knowledgeable. He even referred me to an unaffiliated professional so that I could get another opinion about my problematic double-sided fireplace. Contracting and deposit payments were all done electronically making things very convenient and they were able to get me scheduled for the work within a couple days of signing the contract. Crew #1 for flue relining came in HOT! Right on time; two trucks, a crew of 4+ guys. They set up their extensive operation in the front yard in the blink of an eye; likewise for prepping my rooms with tarps and tenting (they moved so fast, they tented over my home office desk that I needed to use that afternoon but Mario made sure it was uncovered for me on time). I had a flue lining that had made home inspectors and other contractors gasp in horror! Blackburn's crew was like a machine and got the work done in one day because rain was forecast the following day. Crew #2 for refacing the tile front of the fireplace were true artisans. They managed to remove the existing tile face with no damage to the hearth and the tile cuts were meticulously accurate around the wood mantle. The pattern of my tile choice was a bit intricate but they made it flow perfectly and the grouting (Eddie picked the color) was the perfect color and installed beautifully. Brian came later for finishing work that was just the cherry on top! He painted the inside of the firebox, re-set my gas log set and did a fantastic job "dressing" the log set with rock wool "embers" that look 1,000% better than before. All members of the Blackburn crew including Alexandra in the office communicate well and let you know what to expect each step of the way - and they check in after to make sure you're satisfied. Eddie is outta this world great, and I can’t recommend Blackburn Chimney enough. We had our chimney from 1940s updated for the first time and he advised us every step of the way with solid recommendations and options for us to consider. Whenever Eddie is here, he takes the time to explain and educate us while answering any questions we have. He is so respectful of the home, he’s wonderfully personable, and his work is unrivalled. He has built a clientele that continues to come back due to his pristine work and above and beyond service.

Eddie repaired our chimney and installed a liner so we could start using our insert. Ended up coming back to try and fix the ancient blower that had come with the house free of charge, even though he had nothing to do with it being broken in the first place.

Eddie came out to perform a chimney sweep of a rental we are vacating and not only did a wonderful job of cleaning the chimney- but provided very valuable information on the state of the chimney itself. He walked me through the various operating parts of a chimney and how some parts of the chimney were needing replaced in order to be safely operable. Blackburn Chimney did a great job fixing my chimney. They talked me through the entire process and were responsive to any questions. They left my chimney and roof clean and replaced a few extra bricks without charge as a courtesy.

Blackburn Chimney did a fantastic job installing a flue liner in our chimney. Eddie came out to assess the situation and explained the whole process in detail. The company was pretty booked up for weeks, so they graciously offered to do the installation on a Saturday, only two days after the estimate.

The install team (I believe their names were Mario and Eric) was super professional, efficient, and friendly. They worked carefully and cleanly--there was literally nothing to clean up after they finished. Now we can use our new HVAC system with peace of mind, knowing that our chimney is protected by a properly installed liner. We've used other chimney companies in the past, and none came even close to the quality and professionalism of Blackburn Chimney's work. Highly recommended!

Eddie and team at Blackburn did an outstanding job repairing our chimney, and indoor fireplace. They came out for a free quote and inspection and scheduled us within the month. The team was courteous, professional and did outstanding work over about 2.5 days. Eddie and the rest of the Blackburn team did a GREAT job at our house. We got 3 reviews, one of which said it would take a week, another of which didn't mention something important. The job took one day. Moreover, this is a company you trust quickly - everyone you talk with (Alexandra is the office manager) is so honest and open about what the problems are, how long it will take to fix, and what that will entail. Also extremely knowledgeable, providing photos of what was happening before the work, and what it looked like after. Our chimney is 120 years old and had never been touched. We could not be more pleased. Give them a call!

I cannot recommend Blackburn Chimney enough for their professionalism, beautiful craftmanship and fair and transparent pricing. We called them because we had a leak in the house where the chimney met the roof. Eddie climbed onto the roof and took pictures and video to show us the state of the chimney and that it was indeed what caused the leak. He didn't pressure or upsell me, as other companies did, and even encouraged getting another opinion to make me feel comfortable that the work was what needed to be done. The quote was very fair and transparent, and came in within our budget.
They were able to schedule me in very quickly with a warm stretch of Feb weather. Nelson and his team were professional and did a great job the day of. He was very professional but also a really wonderful craftsman, as the pictures can attest. I was pleasantly surprised with how great it all looked afterwards. I highly recommend the masonry work.

Great service! Our regular chimney sweep went out of business unexpectedly two years ago, and we had some trouble finding a reputable business that provides service in our area. I got a quick response after contacting Blackburn, and was able to easily schedule service. Eddie provided professional service, and even though he found some issues with our chimney, did not pressure us with "scare tactics" (as other companies have) and encouraged us to get a second opinion. I will definitely be calling Blackburn again for chimney service!

I highly recommend Blackburn Chimney for any fireplace or chimney issues. Their staff are flexible, courteous, and professional. I was incredibly impressed with the technical skill used to inspect my 1955-built chimney. Eddie (owner/technician) highlighted and explained the defects in my chimney, and the safety concerns they presented. He was able to examine my chimney systematically through both flues and from the fireplace as well as furnace/ water heater exhaust. After repairing the entire system, Eddie walked me through all the repairs and demonstrated how to properly use the new flue. My house is ready for the winter and I can safely use my fireplace with peace of mind.

Eddie was fast to respond to my inquiry for a quote and explained in detail what was needed to properly install a new chimney liner. Carlos and Guillermo executed expert craftsmanship with the demolition, installation, and finish work. The team properly protected the inside of the house, covering the work area, floors, furniture, and carpeting ensuring the area was clean when they completed the work.

I have owned my home for almost 30 years . In that time I have used all the local chimney companies to clean or repair the chimney . November 7, 2023: Blackburn Chimney is top notch…can’t say enough positive things about Ed Blackburn and the company! You won’t find a more honest businessman and person, and in today’s customer service environment, that is rare. I have requested service from several OTHER Chimney services over the years and the proposals ranged from wood stove and total chimney replacement to chimney cap replacement even though the cap was newly replaced within the same year. In more recent years Blackburn has responded to my service requests with more economical alternatives backed by inspection video, photographs, and logical expert explanations. The result has been a confidant approach to heating production and my family’s safety.

Absolutely first-rate experience with Blackburn Chimney for my yearly chimney/fireplace inspection and cleaning. Eddie, the owner of Blackburn, arrived promptly and explained every detail of the inspection to me and answered all of my questions. He was extremely professional, and my house was left spotless. I was very happy with the entire experience and highly recommend Eddie and Blackburn Chimney.

We had issues with our chimney for years, and Blackburn Chimney noticed the liner was two inches smaller than it should have been. Whoever did the previous liner undersized it to avoid doing the necessary work to put in the right size liner. The Blackburn team was pretty surprised when they tried to remove the old liner and it turned out to be drainage pipe instead of a chimney liner, making the removal of the old liner very difficult. The old terracotta liner was till in there, probably because it took less time to put a smaller liner in rather than doing it right. Blackburn Chimney took out the side of the chimney to get it right, and I believe his price was very fair. The work was exceptional. I appreciate their time, patience and professional work. I spent a lot of time checking to make sure his advice was right, and it was always accurate. I would use this team again for sure. They were great.

* Customer Service: We were looking for a chimney sweep willing to remove a dead animal that had unfortunately found its way inside the fireplace after finding the chimney cap we were surprised was damaged. Alexandra, who handles the company's phone contact, was trying to find someone who could help. We managed to find someone, but that extra touch of service from a company that had not done any work for us impressed us! Alexandra was the main point of contact between the customer and owner/crew, and relayed messages clearly.

* Knowledge: Our fireplace chimney needed repairs, and we decided now was the perfect time. Blackburn Chimney's website was professional and succinctly informative about their service.
We asked them to provide a quote. Eddie (owner) was friendly, courteous, and very knowledgeable about chimneys based on his years of experience working with chimneys. He inspected the fireplace and chimney, showed us the areas that required repairs in addition to the couple spots we knew about, and explained what repair work was needed.

* Estimate: For the number of technicians it would take to repair the chimney and the number of repairs required, the quote was justifiable and affordable.

* Respectability and Professionalism: The repair techs respected our home environment by wearing covers over their shoes, laying out drop clothes and using a vacuum to collect the dust particles from the interior work. We moved our furniture inside; however, Blackburn Chimney would have moved the interior furniture. They removed the furniture out back before beginning exterior chimney work, kept a clean environment out back, and put the furniture back in place before they left. After repairs were done, the head of the repair crew showed us the completed repairs and answered all our questions. The repairs has extended the life of our older chimney. We waited for a day of rain, and there was a little bit of water coming into the hearth; Eddie came out to inspect and identified the location immediately; explained and showed the issue, and scheduled an appointment to come out a couple days later to complete the repair.

* Timeliness: Eddie and the crew phoned ahead prior to their arrivals to confirm they were on their way for the quote and repair appointments. Weather delayed exterior work, but despite that, Blackburn Chimney completed the work on a timely basis.

Eddie and his team replaced the vent piping for our water heater and furnace venting a few weeks ago. After the WSSC inspection failed working with a different contractor, we found them. Requested a chimney inspection/cleaning for our wood burning fire place. Alexandra the office manager responded to our online request right away and accommodated our date and time of service with same week appointment. Eddie called when he was 10 minutes away from our house. He was very nice and took time to explain the service and answer our questions. The service did not take long and he was clean and organized. We will be using Blackburn Chimney next year!

I quoted three places. Blackburn chimney was not the cheapest, but they were the most professional one during the quoting process. The work they did was great. Nelson and the team replaced the B vent pipe, and they also recommended a T connection to contain the condensation, with little to no additional cost. On top of that, they also helped me seal the other pipe with silicone for free. I would highly recommend them for the work.

Eddie with Blackburn Chimney installed a wood stove insert into my fireplace. He and his guys did a great job. Eddie was very knowledgable about the different types of stoves and sizing. He wasn't high pressure sales at all. In fact, Eddie talked me out of a more expensive stove that would have over heated the room. Installation was a breeze. His crew put down tarps and wore shoe protection whenever they were in the house. They were very efficient and a pleasure to work with. I would use Eddie and highly recommend his services.

Eddie gave me a fair price and was responsive to all my questions. Nelson and Jose replaced my chimney and did a great job. They were neat and every thing was cleaned up at the end of the project.

Eddie came over in the same week that we told him we had an issue with our pilot being too high in our fireplace, and he was probably the most honest, kind, and respectful technician we've come across. He didn't force us into any repairs or strongly suggest that we do one thing or another. He just made sure that we were informed about the best options we had, how to operate the fireplace safely despite our pilot light issue, and sent us a fair quote for the repair that would take place (should we choose to repair the system). Had chimney repairs as the old brick Levitt used, from 1969, was spalling badly. Eddie came out, gave an estimate (an amount that I had figured on actually), started early the next week. I called Blackburn Chimney to look at my old broken chimbley. Freddie and Randy were so professional. I hired them to point all my joints and fix my rusty chimbley flute. They worked long and hard, sun rise to sun set. They even waterproofed my shed free of charge ! Will definitely hire again .
