Big Metal Structures LLC is a great place to purchase your next building. I had a great experience with customer service and the installation crew of my new 30x40x12 metal shop. I Highly recommended this company!

Big Metal Structures does not sell metal buildings. Alex is one of dozens of middlemen sales people for a company called NC Carports & Garages. Alex will promise the world to you so that you will sign his non-refundable contract, then his work is done.

Any further correspondence was him making up excuses, pretending to work with the contractor to get us a sooner install-date, and ignoring us for days on end.

My building date was a month later than the “worst case scenario” date Alex gave me. I took the day off, only for the crew to arrive at 6 PM and drop off material but not do any work.

The crew did a very sloppy job assembling this prefabricated building, filled my trash can with scrap material, and left beer bottles + cans that they presumably drank on the job. There’s bent fascia, ill-fitting door trim, loose screws, and damage on the roll-up door where the paint has come off. They arrived with a damaged walk-in door, so they decided not to install one, stating they’d be back next week to install it.

Fast forward a month, and another crew shows up with just a door. No frame for said door. Another day of PTO wasted.

They show up again with the door and frame, this time they creased the wall when pulling it back to install the door. They used touch up paint on the roll up door which looks tacky to say the least.

Ultimately what I’ve ended up with is a building of poor craftsmanship, sold to me by a powerless middle man: Alex at Big Metal Structures.

I’d give 0 stars if given the option.

If after reading this you still want to buy a building from NC Carports, just work with them direct. Cutout the middleman and at least save some money. Big Metal Structures added no value to my purchase.

BUYER BEWARE — the timeframes are completely misrepresented. communication is non-existent and when you are able to speak with someone, they are either incompetent and hostile (or both).

we paid our deposit in April, foundation was fully completed July 5 and we were told it would be 3-7 weeks to install. didn’t hear from anyone for 5 weeks, at which point we asked for a refund or a confirmed install date and were given nothing but excuses.

10 weeks after the foundation was complete, the garage was installed. the contractors they sent filled our garbage receptacle to the brim with construction debris (NOT allowed in our city and can result in a fine) and they left cigarette butts and beer / malt liquor bottles in our yard… why they were *drinking on the job* is beyond me and i am so grateful there was not an accident at my house because of this.

the walk-in door was somehow damaged and the contractors said they would return the following week with a new door to complete the project. when we heard nothing for almost a week, i called to follow up and was met with hostility and a distinct lack of empathy from their rep. i was told they would be in contact when they could get a crew to return to complete the project…that was 2 weeks ago.

i asked if we could have the cost of the walk-in door ($582) refunded and hire someone on our own to complete the project and although she assured me having someone else complete their job would not violate their warranty, we re-read our contract and determined that was not at all true per the contract. it clearly states that altering the structure violates the warranty. so they either willfully misled us regarding their warranty and our contract, or are incompetent and simply didn’t know any better and gave us bad advice.

when will our garage be finished? we have not heard from anyone in 2 weeks! i cannot use the garage because i cannot operate the garage door in my current condition (36 weeks pregnant) and we still do not have a walk-in door!

unless you are a masochist who enjoys paying a premium to be treated like scum, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.

From start to finish, working with Alex and Chris about the build out to the scheduling with Isabel everything was a breeze. The crew got there and finished my 30x40x10 garage in 2 days time; sometimes working as late as 8pm to complete the job. The quality of the materials was top notch since they use 2.5" tube channel vs the smaller stuff. I shopped around also before deciding on this company and they beat every competitors price for this picky, tight-assed Veteran! Saying I'm pleased with the build is an understatement. I highly recommend!

I did a lot of research trying to find the best shop I could buy within my budget. After talking to Cris at Big Metal Structures, I decided to go with them. He was very helpful and worked with me on everything I wanted for my shop. Everything turned out exactly how I hoped it would. I went with a 30x40x12 with vertical paneling and went ahead and did a 30x20 approach for a basketball hoop for the kids.

Great company to deal with. Very professional and very responsive. Communication is great as well. Prices are awesome and on site workers are very professional. Highly recommend.

I received quotes for my 30x40 shop from about 2 dozen companies. Cris with Big Metal Structures was the first one to actually answer my questions without making me feel like I was bothering him. He was in contact with me during the entire process from start to finish. He probably made changes to my layout 30 times before I settled on a design.

Scheduling was a breeze with Isabel. She reviewed my orders 3 times to make sure the dimensions, spacing, and colors were correct.

Today the crew finished the installation of my 30x40x12 shop and a 30x55x12 carport. They were excellent. Always letting me know when they were coming and going. When they had questions or I needed to make a decision like window placement; they were courteous and helpful. They cleaned up after themselves and really knew what they were doing.

Great customer service. Contact me as some as I messaged. Sent me a graphic picture of what my building would look like to the color design. Great guys that put up the building. Showed up at 9:30 and was finished at 7. Cleaned up all trash and any screws that fell on the ground. Highly recommend and they stand by their contract. Very happy customer here

I built a 12x24 pole barn out of wood and Big Metal Structures was quick to help me out with roofing material. They were quick to quote and very quick to deliver once down payment was sent. Quality was great and was significantly cheaper than local big box stores.

With any questions you may have. The installers were very professional and cared about their work. They even blew off the roof when there were done. Big Metal Structures was also the only company I could find that had 4’ center on the trusses which is huge if your planning to sheath the interior. Anyway thank you Big Metal Structures! Very pleased with with building and customer service. Alex was great to work with, and the contractors worked their butts off all day. They came the night before and got everything set up for the next day. Everybody was very professional and easy to work with.

Did a great job helping me design and decide on the size and shape of my building. It is a 40’ x 30’ with 14 ‘ walls and full insulation. What I really like about the structure is the studs that are only 4 feet apart instead of the typical 6 feet. Not only does it make the building stronger, it also provides me with a ton of capability to attach shelves or whatever else I need throughout the building. They just completed it on Friday and it’s exactly what I expected. The installation crew was here on the day they committed to and completed the job on time with no surprises, physical or financial. The crew was courteous, professional, and walked me through each stage of the project as they were building it.

I highly recommend big metal structures. they were awesome from the start to completion. this is a new company but don't let that scare you away from them. the salesman drove 3 hours to my house to talk with me and go over what we were wanting and looking for. he wasn't pushy at all the whole time we talked about everything. he told us that it would be 8 weeks before they could install the building and that wasn't a problem at all. I got a call from the factory in about a week to go over the order and they also send it would be 8 weeks before they would be able to install it. I told them that wasn't a problem. well I was surprised when I got a call in 3 weeks and they were setting up a appointment the next week to come out to install our building. they were here at 7:30am and finished it at 6:30pm that same day. the crew that came out really was awesome and did a awesome job installing our building for us. I highly recommend this company and will be using them again and I will tell everyone I kno to use them.
