The guys at Big Island Off Road are AWESOME! Shawn was every informative, straight forward and honest. The work done to my '98 Tacoma was very cleanly and professionally done. Shawn and Ian gave very good recommendations for suspension options, but it never felt like they trying to push a sale. Thank you guys!!

Had a great experience with these guys. They did a great job installing a new camper shell on my Toyota Tacoma lineup! Couldn’t be happier, first purchase I’ve made in a longtime that I felt great about. Will be working with these gentlemen whenever I need any mods done.

These folks are true masters of their craft. Passionate, experienced, and super knowledgeable. They make sure off-roading is not only a blast but safe!!!

I called the shop and the owner him self answered. Told him what I was looking for and he looked and found it while I was still on the line. Didn't even put me on hold. He set everything up and 3 days later my parts was at my door. On maui. He was super humble and very respectful. I will be call him again for sure. Mahalo Shawn for your help. I really appreciate it

I called the wrong number but got the right people. My 2015 Tacoma had automatic lowering running boards installed 3 years ago at another dealership. They inspected them. and told me i needed a new one the motor had gone kaput. It was 298.00. I paid in advance in March 2024. I was told 6 to 8 weeks, seemed odd to me. After 2 months I went to the shop and was told, the distribution warehouse was in the middle of moving. 2 months went by; I went back and was then told it burned down. And they'd have it in in 6 weeks. I am a 20-year small business owner in Kona. I was really busy and forgot about it till November and went back to the original place of business that I purchased it and had them installed. I was told that they could not even get them now. I got my 298.00 refunded. 2 months prior to this I accidently called Big Island Off Road. Mistakenly thinking it was the original shop. Sean answered and I realized my mistake. and informed him of my situation. He said to come on by if i didn't get resolution. I finally did. But now both sides were not operating. Sean took an initial look see and tested some circuitry. Asked that I bring in it back on Monday. I did. Met Ian and he explained to me, what he will look into. I got a call 4 hours later from Sean, saying it was all fixed. The motors were never bad, but needed a little adjusting etc. I have been a Big Island Resident for almost 50 years now. What Sean & Ian took on was above exceptional service with a fricken Awesome sense of humor as well as professional courtesy. No B.S. here. I am happy I mistakenly called Sean. He and Ian are a great team for all 4x4 off road and accessory needs.

I brought my Chevy Suburban in to get a 6" lift installed. Sean and the team there did exactly what they said they would in the timeframe, even quicker, and for the low end of the price that was roughly quoted. Most importantly to me, they did an excellent job on the lift install, although an older truck, it was level front to back and side to side and ready to look mean as soon as I get some nicer tires, ha!

On top of all that they told me what I needed to replace soon for better performance and safety as well as parts not as urgent for down the road. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place in Kona!

Easily the best automotive experience I've had! Bought a bare-bones Jeep Wrangler Sport. I had some ideas of mods I wanted to make, but no specifics. Meeting with Sean, we agreed on a lift kit, wheels, and tires. Sean guided and educated me every step of the way.
I highly recommend Big Island Off-Road not just for mods but for normal service needs, especially brakes. Sean and Ian are honest, knowledgeable, and most importantly, trustworthy.

Me and Kalani took the 1999 Cherokee in since it was doing a little death rattle when we would hit a pothole. These guys got us in quickly and the work was done super fast. They were great communicators and talked to us about the issue and what was causing the rattle. Loved that they were honest and didn’t try to upsell us on stuff we didn’t need done to the jeep. We recommend 100%!!

Seriously… these guys are the best. Came in after ripping my skid plate off looking for advice on how to make my truck more off road worthy and they hooked it up for me. So much knowledge and passion when it comes to taking your car to the next level. They set up my new lift and new tires and rims and my truck has never been more badass. 10/10 recommend them for any of your off road needs!!!

Trying to find a 4x4 shop on Island is difficult...at least finding a good one. I came from SoCal where they have the best 4x4 shops in the world, so I am a little spoiled. I have a pretty custom rig and a lot of people won't work on it because so much has been done to it, and I am extremely picky who I let touch it. I came in to get my train horn fixed that a shop in SoCal did. They found the issue rather quickly and figured out the shop wired it completely wrong and they fixed the problem. The owner and staff are EXTREMELY friendly and are willing to just talk with you or show you some of their cool projects they have going on in the shop. I was there for about 30 minutes and I saw so many guys just come in to say hi, or show something new on their rigs or just dropping off gifts. They mainly specialize in lifts, but don't let that scare you away, they do A LOT and the owner will be very honest with you if he's able to do it or not. I 100% trust this shop with my rig.

Friendly, helpful, honest, and very pleasant to talk with. Met Sean while sourcing item for son's truck, Sean provided us great input, willingly and without any hesitation. Kona and Big I are lucky to have Big Island Off-Road! Sean showed us his shop too which was great fun.

After having another mechanic snap off 9 studs and telling me they couldn’t fix it Big Island off road was there. They got me parts ordered the same day and actually talked me through why it went wrong which most mechanics don’t. I would recommend these guys anyday of the week mahalos guys

Sean and his team are simple No Ka Oi - the best! What does that mean... its means genuine, friendly, and competent. They helped me fix up my Tundra which needed a whole new brake system, walk me through the process and delivered on time and on budget. We just spoke yesterday about when I can scrap together some fun money, he'll help lift up my Subaru Wilderness...watch out Maks :) Don't mess around, just call Sean he'll take care of you - Big Island style!

Big Island Off-road has been my go to place for all things Jeep. I have gotten automatic steps put on, a new hybrid top installed and even my engine light checked. Seems like they can do it all. Very convenient location too right by Costco. Even one of the guys brought me back lunch from their lunch break while I was waiting. Stellar service!

Recently had another one of vehicles, Lifted by Big and Offroad. We’re always impressed with their professional staff and fast service. They are always our go to guys for any mechanic work we need done on our vehicles. I highly recommend this business!

I have nothing but good things to say! I called up the shop and spoke with bradda Sean to potentially order a lift kit but had some questions. Once we looked into the parts I wanted to order there was some weirdness going on with pictures not matching the parts and the kits having contradicting part numbers etc. etc. but Sean was on top of it and called the manufacturer with me on the phone to get to the bottom of it. All in all could not have been easier and this guy is on top of his business and is always proactive and timely.

Sean was super knowledgeable about the island and spent a lot of time making sure we were informed about our rental . Helped us get to the best spots on the island. Great day exploring & enjoying the beach!

Had an amazing off roaring experience with Sean! He first off is so kind and funny AND is an incredible driver, his jeep is exceptional, and you will feel like you can go over anything in it! Do his off roading experience when on the big island, you will NOT regret it!

With a recent regear and just today, a complete Teraflex Delta brake and rotor install on my ‘21 Gladiator, would give 6 stars if could. Sean goes out of his way to research the parts and options necessary for your offroad investment. His mechanic Ian is very knowledgeable and would trust in any technical application to get the job done correctly. Big thanks and I’ll be back for sure once I save up for my next big Jeep mod!

Big Island Off-Road did an excellent full brake replacement --calipers, pads, rotors, fluid flush, and parking brake adjustment-- in only three hours and at a fairly great price. I highly recommend!

Just found these guys and will keep coming back!! No waiting weeks for parts etc. All work was done in a couple hours. Shaun is honest and a great communicator. Ian is an awesome, thorough mechanic.

From start to finish, Big island of road did an awesome job lifting our Ford f250. Sean ( owner) was very down to earth guy. He called and lets us know of whatever problems need to be change. Just redid my suspension lift on a 2000 Toyota Tacoma going from an outdated trail master to a Fabtech 6inch kit from Big Island Offroad and man I love it. Sean (owner) is very kind, passionate and his love for off-roading is amazing. Ian (mechanic) at shop is one of the most down to earth guys and is very professional and knowledgeable. I had an awesome experience with this shop. Very informative updates and progress along the way and not keeping you in the dark with a surprising bill. Very accommodating with all the additional things I added on last minute. I highly recommend this shop and will definitely continue working with them.

Our work truck was down and Sean was great in getting the part we needed and got it to us within the week. Excellent customer service and extremely helpful in guiding us to what we would need.

I'm very happy with the items I ordered and the service from Big Island Off-Road. I placed an order for a couple items for my son for Christmas. I ordered them late and was concerned about receiving them before Christmas. The owner, Sean, even called me to give an update on the order and shipping. I ordered a 3.5 inch lift kit and wheels from Sean at Big Island Off-Road. Shipping was fast and pricing was fair. Him and his crew installed the lift kit and wheels on my Tacoma and it came out great! I would highly recommend Sean, he is honest and knowledgeable.
