Bartlett Design and Build

We've used Bartlett Design and Build for a variety of projects, ranging from kitchen work, bathroom work, insulation, flooring, design planning, and even installing a mini-split to supplement the HVAC. It is also worth noting how many things he didn't fix because they turned out not to be necessary. He helped us separate real risks from the ones other technicians might be tempted to exaggerate in order to create more work for themselves. He has a tremendous knowledge base borne from years of experience doing plumbing, framing, roofing, electricity, concrete (and probably more). We used a string of contractors before finding Bartlett who were by comparison more expensive, less transparent, and less reliable. In our experience through each of our projects, Bartlett gets it done on time, the first time, every time.

Some of the things we most appreciate are:

Build Quality: Ben was our tech, and his commitment to excellence, detail, and thoroughness stood apart from previous contractors who cut corners to save themselves time and costs in their race to their next gig. Ben’s conscientiousness and work ethic have created things that will last. Even if Bartlett weren’t so competitively priced (they were still among the cheapest we found), I’d prefer paying more than the bottom-of-the-barrel competitor for the peace of mind and confidence that the job will be done correctly.

Transparency: More than any other contractor we’ve hired over the years, Ben was up-front about every decision and development. He helped us gain a holistic understanding of each project, and how the installation and placement of things would impact other parts of the house. This was particularly appreciated when he helped steer me away from some of my initial (amateur) design decisions which would lead to expensive or difficult to maintain issues down the road.

Teaching: This may sound weird, but we honestly learned a ton about how to take better care of the house just from hearing his explanations. He has a talent for describing concepts in ways that non-experts can understand and apply, and was very patient. We feel like more confident homeowners after his ‘teaching sessions’

Cons:

There were a few times we had to wait for their availability to start a project. This was not a big deal, since we prioritized “good” over “fast”. As they get more clients, it only makes sense for them to have to juggle more and more projects on a finite calendar. For us, it has always been worth the wait!

Ben is such a wealth of knowledge and so customer focused. He made sure we were 100% satisfied and kept us informed every step of the process. He was able to bring the best folks together to complete our project in a short amount of time and exceeded our expectations. We have had work done in our home in the past, but never to this caliber of professionalism nor with this level of excellence. If I could give 10 stars I would. We are so happy with the result!
