The whole AmyWorks team was awesome to work with. They completed a bed/bath/kitchen addition to our home and they were communicative, timely and made a large project feel manageable. They were thoughtful and had creative suggestions when issued came up, which with an older home were expected and inevitable. They were willing to work through issues with the architect and were able to get to a good solution that didn't create a huge delay, and were great with communicating at all steps in the process. They were a joy to work with and even my neighbors commented to us what a great construction team they were! Highly recommended!

We are extremely pleased with the bathroom and mini kitchen remodel that AmyWorks completed for us and recommend them without reservations. They transformed the everyday living experience in our home to one that makes more practical sense and reflects our personal style.

In addition to doing quality work, AmyWorks excelled in these areas that put them on another level:

Communication: Every step of the way we felt connected to Kayla the project manager, as well as the office manager, crew, and subcontractors. From the calendar and daily status postings/in-progress photos on the BuilderTrend portal, to the weekly meetings, to the text messages alerting us to timely information, we knew we could always ask questions and get reassurance when needed. We had never undertaken such a major house project before, so the frequent communication really helped us build trust with AmyWorks.

Creativity: Every remodel of an old house uncovers unexpected issues, and this project was no exception. AmyWorks had the best attitude about this! Stud in the wrong place? No problem, they can figure out a creative solution! Want to re-use existing cabinetry to create a new secret door into your pantry? AmyWorks loved this design challenge and collaborated enthusiastically to make our vision a reality.

Caring: For the entire six-month project we felt that AmyWorks really cared about getting the details right, all while ensuring that we were satisfied with how things were going. Remodeling three rooms of your house while you still live there is always going to be disruptive, but AmyWorks went above and beyond to make the experience as pleasant as it could be. The AmyWorks crew was always friendly and accommodating. Their can-do attitude put us at ease about any extra requests that we had along the way related to dust control, safety of our two cats, and selection of building materials. In addition, it’s clear that AmyWorks cares about its employees. It felt good to support a company that provides professional development and advancement opportunities for its staff, as well as sick and vacation time. AmyWorks is also very well connected to skilled subcontractors who are respectful of women. This was very important to us, and it’s not something that you can easily learn about a company from their online reviews.

Negotiation: When unexpected issues arose during the project related to schedule, weather, and materials, AmyWorks was always very accountable and low-stress to work with. We felt it was easy to negotiate solutions with them from the initial budget discussions to the end of the project—we were able to address any disagreements directly, and choose options that satisfied all parties.

AmyWorks transformed the lower part of my home (garage and laundry room) into a fabulous Mother-in-Law apartment. There was already a very large bedroom and bathroom in that part of the house. Now, in addition to the large bedroom, there is a gorgeous kitchen and laundry area plus a large living room and an unheated storage closet (could be seen as the apartment's basement/garage/storage area.) AND, the bathroom has been enlarged and the substandard shower stall has been replaced by a beautiful walk-in shower with a first class rolling heavy duty glass door (purchased at 2nd Use for a fraction of the cost; if you don't know about 2nd Use, you need to check them out online and then go for visit!!). The AmyWorks crew were very professional and gifted. Kayla, who runs the various remodel/construction crews, is very organized and is an awesome communicator. I had never taken on such a major remodel project and I appreciated her patience and willingness to explain many things and basically help guide me through the remodel. I highly recommend AmyWorks for your remodel/construction project.

I received regular updates with photos along with weekly status meetings. Their team did exceptional work and I always felt well informed. I highly recommend them. My experience couldn’t have been better! Thank you, AmyWorks!

Before hiring AmyWorks I had multiple 'big" company contractors come to the house to get quotes. Each of them quoted me out of my price range and their timeline and availability was limited. After some searching I came across AmyWorks and had them come by the house for a quote.

Immediately they showed an attention to detail and interest in my project that made me feel comfortable and excited to work with them. Also, the quote was a good but lower than what the other contractors had offered.

From start to finish all of the people I interacted with at AmyWorks' were incredibly responsive and understanding. My project lead went to multiple distributors with me in person to select the materials for my project and I think they did a fantastic job of expressing their thoughts, opinions, and expertise on the project while still focusing on and centering my idea and vision.

Once they began construction the workers were respectful of the space and people in the house. They were on time and efficient with their work, wrapping up the project two days ahead of schedule.

I couldn't be happier with the finished project and AmyWorks will definitely be the first company I reach out to for any further projects or my number one recommendation to friends looking for a contractor.

I had a horrible experience working with AmyWorks!

I contacted AmyWorks back in April or May to get an estimate for our kitchen remodel. They sent Susan (I believe) out to do the estimate. Overall she was very pleasant and seemed knowledgeable - that was not the problem. While she was at our home, she gave us a verbal estimate range that was within the ball park we wanted to spend. To proceed, she informed us that we would need to pay them $500 to provide a full detailed quote so we could start towards hiring them. I should have known not to give over any money, but we wanted to hire them. After paying them the money it took a few days from them to come back with the quote and we were astounded to receive a quote that was $18,000 MORE THAN HER ORIGINAL ESTIMATES! My husband and I spent many weeks trying to work with them on the quote (even trying to take out work that we wanted them to do to fit within our budget), but every time we found a way to cut costs they would add in a new line item. It became ridiculous and we had to walk away. I really feel like they tricked us and would never recommend working with them.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
